Brief highlights of both Champions League Semi Final 2nd Legs.
Transcript
00:00Line-up for the European Cup final in Amsterdam in May, after tonight's semi-final second legs.
00:06The Italians are the hot favourites to lift their second European Cup in just three years.
00:11They had a bit of a scare, though, against Monaco, 4-1 up from the first leg.
00:15They lost 3-2 tonight, but still go through 6-4 on aggregate.
00:19Real Madrid made sure of their place by knocking out the holders, Borussia Dortmund, 2-0 up from the first
00:24leg.
00:25They held the Germans to a 0-0 draw on the night.
00:30It should have been Borussia Dortmund waving the white flag.
00:33The reigning champions were two goals down, but were convinced they'd reached the final.
00:38They were almost dead and buried early on.
00:41Real Madrid's Roberto Carlos hit the bar.
00:45Dortmund thought they'd pulled one goal back.
00:49Chapuisat spotted Tanko, but he was offside.
00:53The two combined again minutes later.
00:57This time Tanko's shot bent inches wide.
01:02Morrientes was just as close with a header for Real, as they looked for the away goal to kill the
01:07tie.
01:09Time was running out for Dortmund.
01:12Stefan Chapuisat set out on a one-man mission to level the scores.
01:15But a wayward header bounced kindly for Ilgner.
01:20And another shot went straight to the Real keeper.
01:24Andy Muller also saw a late effort pushed around the post.
01:29As the Spaniards held on for a record 10th final appearance.
01:34Though it will be their first for 17 years.
01:38Olly Foster, Sky News.
01:41The other semi-final was effectively a dead tie with Juventus.
01:454-1 up on aggregate.
01:465-1 after 14 minutes.
01:49Del Piero's pass turned in by Nicola Amoruso.
01:52Monaco a bit lucky on their equaliser.
01:55Philippe Leonard with the free kick and the deflection, beating Peruzzi.
01:59In the second half, Thierry Henry beat Peruzzi from close range to put Monaco 2-1 up.
02:06But hopes of an unlikely comeback were extinguished when Del Piero's volley, coming up right now,
02:12took a slight deflection but he caught it superbly.
02:16That was the equaliser with a quarter of an hour to go.
02:19Monaco's Robert Spear scored the consolation winner seven minutes from time.
02:23But it's Juventus against Real Madrid.
