00:00We will end the one metre plus rule on social distancing and the legal obligation to wear a face covering,
00:09although guidance will suggest where you might choose to do so, especially when cases are rising
00:15and where you come into contact with people you don't normally meet in enclosed spaces,
00:21such as obviously crowded public transport.
00:24It will no longer be necessary for government to instruct people to work from home,
00:30so employers will be able to start planning a safe return to the workplace.
00:37There will be no COVID certificate required as a condition of entry to any venue or event,
00:44although businesses and events can certainly make use of certification,
00:48and the NHS app gives you a COVID pass as one way to show your COVID status.
00:55We are trying to move from a system of very elaborate government rules to one in which we rely on
01:02people
01:03to exercise personal responsibility, to follow guidance, mindful that, as I say, this pandemic is far from over.
01:12And recognising the protection afforded by two doses of vaccine,
01:18we will work with the travel industry towards removing the need for fully vaccinated arrivals
01:24to isolate on return from an amber country,
01:27and the Transport Secretary will provide a further update later this week.
