07:39Sous-titrage ST' 502
10:27As we come under the bridge, we're hit with the energy and the noise of the crowd.
10:32This is one of the most famous sections in cross-country racing.
10:35There are thousands of people here.
10:37It is the most technical part, the widest part and the most physical.
10:41Once you deal with that energy, you've got the rest of the climb to get stuck into.
10:45Momentum is your friend in maintaining your speed and power in the most technical climb of the course.
10:59Well, as we come back onto the start straight, all of our favorite sections of Nova Mesto are in fine
11:05form.
11:06We cannot wait for the racing.
11:07In the meantime, I'm going to go and play with my brand new GoPro and we'll see you trackside.
11:13Well, it's nearly time for the women's XCO race.
11:16Will Sina Fry, the winner in South Korea, be able to pull off another win?
11:20Or will Puck Peters, the 2023 winner here, rise to the top of the podium?
11:24There's a lot of suspense and there's a lot to be seen here in Nova Mesto Namorave.
11:31And we are off, we are away.
11:32The elite women's race, they're off the line.
11:35And it's Jenny Isved who leads, I think, in between, sharing there with Puck Peters close on her rear wheel.
11:43There's no start loop today.
11:45So the riders will need to make the most of that first asphalt climb before the tight single track.
11:52Well, Ronna Blocklinger here is off to a great start.
11:56Trying to build some serious speed, but Rischved stays in the lead.
12:02Peters and Fry are also in there.
12:04A few meters behind is the Laura Stiger group.
12:09And speaking of, Blocklinger, this is so far a really, really good run from her.
12:15She's taken the lead of the race.
12:18Powering her way through.
12:21And so far,
12:25she's done an absolutely superb job.
12:31It's a nine-second lead here between Puck Peters, Laura Stiger and Ronna Blocklinger.
12:37The chase group starting to really get going.
12:41She's having to look behind her shoulder.
12:44Well, we've got the five riders at the front.
12:46Rischved, Stiger, Koller, Blocklinger and Fry.
12:49Peters appears to be struggling.
12:51And from nowhere, Laura Stiger has opened up an eight-second gap here.
12:55As we head into the downhill section,
12:58the Austrian putting in an exceptional show.
13:01Laura Stiger now needs nine seconds ahead of the four-rider group
13:06of Rischved, Koller, Fry and Blocklinger.
13:13And it's starting to pay off the growing of that lead.
13:17It's 14 seconds now between the leader and the rest.
13:25Well, Laura Stiger still leads here.
13:27It's eight seconds between the group behind, which is Blocklinger.
13:31Flying her way through the technical sessions.
13:36This is a really, really impressive race so far from the Austrian rider.
13:41And Evie Richards goes down there.
13:43Disappointing for her.
13:44She was leading that group.
13:47And she's going to have to try and reduce that gap back to third now.
13:52The distance, 35 seconds to the race leader, Stiger.
13:58Disappointing for the second time that that's happened to her, unfortunately.
14:02Also had a crash in South Korea.
14:06Well, Laura Stiger looks absolutely unbeatable here.
14:09Anything can happen at Nobemisto.
14:10For now, she seems to have it all wrapped up.
14:14Well, quite the fight going on here for second place.
14:18Sina Fry, Ginny Rischved and Nicole Kuller all pushing together.
14:24Laura Stiger is racing towards victory here.
14:27The super display.
14:28And it's looking like Kuller might lose her place to the pair of Frey and Rischveds who are picking up
14:34the pace.
14:38We go there.
14:39Laura Stiger wins the 2026 Nobemisto XC World Cup.
14:43She has plenty of time to celebrate.
14:4647 seconds, to be precise.
14:48And she secured her third elite women's UCI XCO World Cup victory.
14:53And her first on European soil.
14:56Rischveds versus Frey.
14:58Who will finish second?
14:59It is Rischveds.
15:01Tina Fry follows up her great result in Switzerland with a third place.
15:05I have honestly no words for this one.
15:09I just went my pace, followed my feeling.
15:13And it's just amazing to have such a crowd behind one.
15:19And pushing you through all those roots and rocks.
15:23It feels so good.
15:24And first European World Cup win for me.
15:28It sounds crazy.
15:30Well, what a result for Laura Stiger.
15:33Behind her, Rischveds was able to come back and take second place.
15:37Securing the podium for the specialised was Sina Frey following her round one victory.
15:43Sadly, Evie Richards, who was in the running for a top spot, was only able to complete the race.
15:55Well, here we go.
15:57After two rounds, Frey still leads the overall standings.
15:59While specialised factory racing strengthened its position at the top of the team rankings.
16:04Following a dominant performance across both races.
16:08Well, who's going to take it home for the men's race?
16:11Last year, Christophe Blevins triumphed here in Novemesto Namorave.
16:15But there's no sign of the American today.
16:17Will it be Piddock or will it be someone else?
16:20Well, the men's race is away here.
16:22And Martin Kosman seems to be leading his way.
16:25He's pulled off an impressive start.
16:27As the pack makes its way round the first corner.
16:32It is Kosman and he does lead.
16:36Can he keep it up?
16:38Dario Lillo now, first round winner, takes the lead.
16:42It's definitely a very promising rider in that young man.
16:47Well, Luca Martin has broken up from the front and he's pulled away from Tom Piddock.
16:51Three, six second lead.
16:56Can I have Luca Martin hold on to it?
16:58We're going to find out.
17:03Piddock takes back control.
17:06This is the moment we've waited for.
17:10He unleashes another attack and is absolutely crucial to his race and how he races.
17:20And it's looking like Piddock's day might finally come.
17:24If only we could see the future.
17:28As they head up at the end of lap two.
17:32And some bad news here for Charlie Aldridge.
17:41Piddock here.
17:42He's so strong in the middle part.
17:50If you watch Luca and Tom come through here, it's like they're floating.
17:54This rider's right hand line is proving to be the fastest, but it can go wrong so quickly.
17:59There's so many sharp edges laced within the middle of this line.
18:02As we get into this next pack, there's a few more lines at play.
18:05Martin Badura goes to the right side, but the Scott guys are all going this outside and funneling it back
18:10across.
18:11Adrian Boishee.
18:12You can see the difference in the road cyclists compared to the mountain bike riders.
18:16Adrian, not quite as smooth and comfortable, whereas Dario and the other riders from Scott, you can see they lean
18:21back a little bit more.
18:22Let the bike come towards them.
18:24This is something that Adrian's going to have to really pay attention to.
18:26When Tom came through, you can see the same thing.
18:28He's a little bit too far forward on these rocks, but he's trying to be as delicate as he can.
18:34Piddock still leads behind his Luca Martin.
18:36There's a 12-second gap between those two riders behind the chase group of Fabio Poutiner, Bjorn Riley and Martin
18:44Kosman.
18:4530 seconds or so behind the race leader.
18:48And Piddock seems in complete control.
18:52Well, Luca Martin's done well to reduce that gap.
18:56Gap is still sitting at around 20 seconds, despite what we thought was a really promising first part of this
19:02lap.
19:03The other chase group, about 44 seconds behind the race leader.
19:09And Piddock has done superbly here.
19:11It's a 12-second advantage for him as he enters the sixth lap of this race.
19:15Martin chases, but I don't think he'll get close today.
19:23Well, Kosman now trying to pick his way through this downhill.
19:27Oh, and a serious...
19:28Oh, very nearly.
19:30Nearly lost it completely.
19:31He's done well to right that.
19:34Could have gone very badly for Kosman.
19:39But he's managed to stay on his bike.
19:47And Luca Martin is about five seconds behind the Olympic champion here.
19:51He could be about to lose his advantage in lap six.
19:54It looked so easy for him a few moments ago, but now Martin is peddling and he is getting closer.
20:02Well, Piddock switched back on the afterburners here.
20:04He really is such a joy to watch when he is in full flow.
20:08Luca Martin might have thought he was getting close.
20:10Not anymore.
20:14Well, here's third place.
20:16Filippo Colombo.
20:1849 seconds behind race leader Piddock.
20:27Well, Luca Martin is 19 seconds on the seventh lap behind race leader Tom Piddock.
20:33And it'll be disappointing for him, but he's still put in a really good performance.
20:37And he really does have such an impressive attitude with how he races.
20:45As we onto the last lap, the Brit seems in complete control.
20:51Absolute nightmare here for Bjorn Reilly, whose rear tyre seems to come off the rim.
20:57This will tell us, I think.
20:59It has.
21:00He was pushing for a podium place, so that will hurt.
21:05And that's always a serious disappointment for Bjorn Reilly and anyone who's hit by that sort of nightmare.
21:12Well, here goes Piddock.
21:14He really has done superbly.
21:16And his lead now is nearly 20 seconds ahead of Luca Martin.
21:24Now, the last lap here.
21:28Tom Piddock begins this final lap with an 18-second lead over Luca Martin.
21:34If Piddock can maintain it, he will continue his superb record at Novemesto.
21:45Well, Luca Martin seems to have Tom Piddock in his sights.
21:49But the Brit seems to be a bit too far ahead.
21:52It's just too much of an ask.
21:55And here we go.
21:57It's a super, super moment for Tom Piddock.
22:00Look, he's done absolutely brilliantly.
22:04And he maintains his unbeaten record here in Cecilia at Novemesto.
22:09What a moment for him.
22:13And look at what it means to him and the crowd.
22:17Luca Martin there coming in second.
22:21He raced well.
22:22He'll be disappointed, but he can be proud.
22:29And our third place is finished off with Filippo Colombo.
22:34He'll be happy to be on the podium.
22:39I think that was the hardest one I've done.
22:41I didn't make it easy for myself.
22:43I had a really good start, and I was probably a bit too keen in the first laps.
22:49Luca was pushing me all the way.
22:50He's coming close, and I had to kick again a few times.
22:53A bit rusty, but also really wanted to make sure I didn't have any punctures or anything.
23:00But, yeah, that was a tough one.
23:07Tom Piddock reigns supreme in Novemesto once again after a second place in the other event.
23:13There was no worrying about it as he moved his way through the pack.
23:17And what a win it was, even with a bit of stress from Luca Martin and the rest of the
23:22pack.
23:22There we go.
23:48And then we'll see you next time.
23:51We'll be right back.
