00:00So let's get more on where we're at in these talks between the U.S. and Iran.
00:04Further talks expected when it comes to Tehran's nuclear program.
00:08While it is raising some hopes that we have had this three-week period of truce,
00:14of course markets have been waiting for a little bit more substantive development
00:20to try and near this war, which is in its fourth month. Take a listen.
00:25The teams have been going back and forth,
00:27and President Trump has made it very clear, he talked about it at the cabinet meeting,
00:31that he has several red lines.
00:35And Iran has to turn over their highly enriched uranium.
00:39They cannot pursue a nuclear weapon.
00:41And the Strait of Hormuz, back to your question on energy,
00:45has to free transit, navigation of the seas has to be free and open as it was before.
00:51So he's not going to take a bad deal.
00:53He's going to make a great deal for the American people.
00:57We're joined now by politics editor Laura Davidson for more.
01:00So Laura, where are we at?
01:02Because for a number of days now, there hasn't been a great deal of substantial development.
01:08Yes, this is really sort of we've had, again, some heat today, but not a lot of light
01:12in that there's a deal that Axios has reported, as well as Bloomberg,
01:15that has been agreed to essentially on the staff level, lower level officials,
01:20that would essentially be a 60-day truce to extend the ceasefire,
01:25as well as, you know, kind of the phased opening of the Strait of Hormuz
01:27and kick the talks about the future of Iran's nuclear program down the line.
01:31The key question is, though, is do the two leaders of the two countries agree?
01:35You know, Trump has not yet signed off on this.
01:37He actually has reported he needs a couple more days to review this.
01:40And, again, the Iranian side has not yet confirmed that they have also gotten full sign-off from their side.
01:45So this, again, appears to be quite stalled.
01:48You know, we had a glimmer of hope last weekend.
01:51Trump came out and said that there would be a deal announced within a couple hours.
01:54He stayed at the White House over the weekend.
01:55He skipped his own son's wedding to hash this out.
01:58Nothing much came of it.
01:59So there was, you know, sort of a flitter of optimism.
02:01We saw that in the markets when this first was announced,
02:04but not clear, you know, if there's actually going to be movement here in the coming hours or days.
