00:00It's showtime in Canterbury with the annual KTV Film Festival taking place on the University
00:05of Kent campus. The event is a way of highlighting all the different kind of creatives that get
00:10involved in a film and celebrates the hard work that goes into a production.
00:14I'm here on the red carpet of the Gulbenkian Theatre at the University of Kent and there
00:18are all sorts of people here from directors to costume designers and everything in between.
00:23But what do the attendees think of the film festivities?
00:27I remember the last two festivals last year how much it meant for me because they were
00:30my first festivals, my first red carpet, first awards. It was sort of like my first step into
00:34this whole world after doing the score for film in first year and I remember how much winning my
00:40first award meant for me so I'm just really excited to be able to give that to a bunch of
00:43new filmmakers.
00:45I feel like there's quite a nice community here at the Uni of Kent and especially with KTV.
00:49A lot of people have worked on these films all a part of the film course and who I know
00:54through my
00:54of course and KTV itself it's quite nice for everyone to come together and just sort of
00:59celebrate the films they've worked on it's quite special.
01:02It was lovely to see everyone supporting every single film you know everyone got some great
01:05applause everyone had the moment to speak and be thanked for you know that hard work because at
01:11the end of the day you know this there was eight long films of you know so many different
01:15passing through going into it and so you know it's lovely to see it.
01:18There are eight films up for a variety of awards with a committee getting the decision
01:23of the title of Best Picture so let's find out who was the star of the show.
01:29And the winner of Best Picture for the KTV Film Festival 2026 is She Won't Fight.
01:36Thanks for all the support before the film festival as well I've had people coming up to me and saying
01:41they're
01:41excited for the film and that's just obviously it's made my year I've had so much fun it's my favorite
01:46project I've ever worked on. I feel amazing yeah I really owe it to my crew genuinely like I said
01:52it
01:52in my speeches but they made the film so much better than it could have been if like just from
01:58the
01:58screenplay um I'm so thankful to them they really shocked me every day on set and post-production
02:04it's just been so amazing. And that's a wrap for the KTV 2026 film festival. From what we've heard
02:11today it's clear that the event is a way for newcomers to enter the film world and feature their work.
02:16It can be difficult for students to find the right opportunities but this ceremony is a direct way
02:20into the spotlight. Josh Colombell for KMTV in Canterbury.
