00:01So it's your first trip to Paris and you're short on time?
00:05We'll show you the five most important sites
00:07and give you tips for restaurants, hotels and museums.
00:11VoilĂ ! Bienvenue Ă Paris!
00:15My name is Serena Echenier-Massé and I'm a tour guide for the city of Paris.
00:20Today I'll take you on a tour of the must-see sites
00:23and I'll give you some tips to help you make the most of your vacation in Paris.
00:28Don't miss this architectural masterpiece, the Eiffel Tower.
00:33At night, it lights up every hour.
00:35Of course, it attracts large crowds of visitors so we recommend the following.
00:40Book your tickets in advance if possible because, like most Parisian monuments, it can get very crowded.
00:46And there's only one place to do this, the official Eiffel Tower website.
00:54The next highlight can be found in the artsy quarter and red light district of Montmartre, the Sacré-Cœur Basilica.
01:02You can reach the top by funicular or on foot.
01:06It offers a great view of Paris.
01:12The best times are early in the morning or early evening.
01:17You're more likely to find fewer people and you'll wait less.
01:22Next up, Paris' famous museum, the Louvre.
01:29The highlight is, of course, Leonardo da Vinci's famous Mona Lisa.
01:36When it comes to the Mona Lisa, I would say be patient, since it's the busiest room in the entire
01:42museum, the Salle des Etats.
01:45However, if you book a ticket in advance and come in the morning or during evening opening hours, you can
01:51see it in just a few minutes.
01:52You can enjoy what feels like a private viewing.
01:57And don't miss Notre Dame Cathedral.
02:00After a devastating fire in 2019, it was restored and reopened to the public in 2024.
02:09Entrance to Notre Dame, like all churches in France, is always free, with or without a reservation.
02:15So if you ever come across a website offering to sell you tickets, be wary. It's a scam.
02:23Our fifth highlight is the famous Champs-Elysées Boulevard and the Arc de Triomphe.
02:28Here you'll find lots of shops and boutiques.
02:31From inexpensive to luxurious, there's something for everyone.
02:34However, our shopping recommendation is located about three kilometers away on Boulevard Haussmann, Galerie Lafayette.
02:43A visit to this multi-story department store is worthwhile, even just for its interior design and iconic Art Nouveau
02:50glass dome.
02:54From the roof terrace, you have a great view of the Eiffel Tower and the Opera Garnier.
03:01The fastest way to get from A to B is with the Paris Metro.
03:05You can buy tickets at any metro station, either at the ticket office or from a ticket machine, and of
03:10course via the app.
03:12First you need to buy the Navigo Pass, which you can top up.
03:18You can only get on the metro with a valid ticket.
03:21Trains run every few minutes and are usually quite full, so don't expect to always have a seat.
03:31If you want a little activity and the weather is good, you can also rent a bike.
03:35Paris has many safe bike paths.
03:41Let's move on to the topic of gastronomy.
03:44At the restaurant La Marine in the 10th arrondissement, you can enjoy typical French cuisine served until 2 a.m.
03:51at moderate prices.
03:53To start, try onion soup topped with cheese, followed by a main course of entrecĂ´tes with Bernays sauce and French
04:00fries.
04:00And for dessert, a typical French crème brûlée.
04:06A fee for service is always included in the bill.
04:10However, if you really enjoyed the meal, the service, ambiance or the décor, then you can leave a tip.
04:16The easiest way to calculate it is to either round up to the nearest euro or you just give 5
04:22-10% of the total bill.
04:26Now let's move on to accommodation.
04:29There are plenty of hotels in Paris at a range of prices.
04:33If you want to save money, Serena has a tip.
04:38My advice is to perhaps look outside of the centre and consider the 18th or even the 13th arrondissements, which
04:46are a little further out.
04:47Or even if we want to go to the limit-off cities in Paris.
04:53And that's it for our tips.
04:55Are you interested in taking a trip to Paris?
04:57What would you like to see?
04:59Au revoir et Ă bientĂ´t.
