Hezbollah has released FPV drone footage from a May 23, 2026 nighttime strike targeting Israeli soldiers in Bayyada, southern Lebanon. The Hezbollah FPV drone uses onboard thermal imaging to locate and engage a group of dismounted IDF troops under cover of darkness. The platform is a commercial-derived quadcopter, most likely fiber-optic guided — making it resistant to Israeli electronic warfare and radio-frequency jamming. This Hezbollah FPV strike is part of an escalating low-cost drone campaign that has compelled the IDF to restrict movement, increase dispersion, and adapt counter-drone tactics across the Lebanon border zone since March 2026.

Expert Insight:
When a fiber-optic cable renders a $300 drone unjammable, the technological advantage of one of the world's most capable armies becomes irrelevant at the squad level.
