00:57And there was a lot of other little places to play, but Max's was the place. It was the cool

01:03So Max's became a well-known place, plus it was the Warhol crowd, so it was uber-hit.
01:07Max's played a very important part in the golden age of music.
01:12There was an act at Max's Kansas City a few weeks ago, Iggy Pop is his name, who cut himself
01:16on stage and ended up with 16 stitches.
01:19All of these people gathered in the back room of Max's Kansas City.
01:24A new rock group had surfaced at Max's Kansas City and created a sellout.
01:28And we were scheduled to play Max's Kansas City. For six nights in a row, we sold it out.
01:34Culture and fashion do not come out of nowhere.
01:37It was one of the homes of punk, really. That's what it was for us.
01:41This shit was punk rock.
01:44We'd walk down the street and people would say, you know, where the fuck are you going? To a Halloween
01:48party? Or, you know, look at that crazy motherfucker, you know.
01:53And I have been through clubs everywhere. Max's was it.
01:57Of all the places, things could happen there.
02:00They were all high all the time.
02:04Now Max's in the 70s was like, you know, famous. It's going to be like, you know, always remembered. It's
02:10going to be written about and filmed about. Always.
02:12Years later, I heard the various stories about money being manufactured in the basement.
02:19They noticed that American money is all the same size.
02:22So they started bleaching out those ones and printing the hundreds.
02:26And all of a sudden, all the guns went up.
02:29And they figured out how to pass them without getting caught.
02:32They would go to Atlantic City and buy chips.
02:36They were doing something shady. Come on.
02:38They made two mistakes.
02:41This shit was punk rock.
