01:16...
01:21Just having played
01:23very hyped of matches both on Ash
01:25and on Chatrier, I wonder if you could
01:28compare for me the experience of
01:29playing matches in those two places. Obviously
01:31you get a lot of support in both places, but
01:33it's a little bit different inside
01:35of Ash.
01:40You said Ash
01:41versus Chatrier? You know I didn't play
01:43on Chatrier today?
01:44I know that.
01:48Yeah, Ash is my favorite
01:50court in tennis. There's a buzz
01:52about that tournament that's
01:56different from everywhere else.
01:59Chatrier was
01:59quite the experience and
02:02certainly quickly became one of my
02:04favorite courts in tennis. It's massive.
02:07Looking all the way up to the top
02:08even just the court size
02:10is massive.
02:14To be able to play
02:15and a court like
02:18that that has so much history
02:21is
02:23really cool. I've been
02:24lucky. I've played on many
02:26times on center court at all the slams
02:28except for Wimbledon. Wimbledon's the only
02:30tournament that I haven't played on center court.
02:34I'm kind of pissed
02:34about that. But they're
02:37they're all great.
02:40You mentioned the size of
02:42Chatrier. Yeah.
02:45There's all different dimensions
02:46it seems on these courts
02:48and these grounds. I'm sort of curious
02:50do you factor that into
02:52how you play? How much space there is
02:54in the back, on the sides? What
02:56shots are you going to be using?
02:58And if
02:58no? No, I was going to say yeah.
03:00Yeah. Oh, okay. If so, how?
03:01Yeah, 100%. I mean, you know, you play
03:04out on like court seven
03:05the guy can't return from 20 feet
03:07behind the baseline.
03:09There's just not as much space.
03:13So, you know, for me
03:14I know that using rising serves
03:16heavier serves
03:17they're going to struggle with a lot more
03:18because they can't
03:19go back far enough
03:20that the ball is going to
03:21going to drop.
03:23At the same time
03:24those outside courts
03:25I feel are a little bit quicker
03:27and more slippery.
03:29you can move a little bit better
03:31on the
03:32courts
03:32that are inside the stadiums
03:34and it slows down
03:37a little bit
03:38which
03:38on a day like today
03:39I actually like
03:40you know, having a little bit more clay
03:42playing a little bit slower
03:44and being able to control the ball.
03:47But
03:49on clay
03:50there's so many different factors
03:51depending on
03:52you know
03:52the day, the weather
03:55the type of clay
03:56like you said
03:57and actually Langland
03:59is pretty small
04:00compared to Chatrier
04:01the court dimension
04:01felt like
04:03some of the sliced serves
04:04that I hit
04:04I had a guy on the side fence
04:06and there's not quite as much room
04:08behind the baseline
04:09so
04:09I really like playing on that court.
04:13Hello Ben
04:14congratulations
04:15in the second round
04:17you're going to play
04:17a Belgian player
04:19Raphael Collignon
04:20do you know anything about him?
04:22Yeah, I think he's a
04:23he's a great player
04:25you know, I feel like he made
04:26a big breakthrough
04:27kind of last year
04:29the year before
04:31I honestly haven't watched
04:32him play a bunch
04:35but I've seen
04:36you know, a lot of
04:36the results that he's had
04:38and
04:38he's beat some great players
04:40over the last year
04:41year and a half
04:43obviously a big guy
04:44serves well
04:45and
04:46looking forward to
04:47the first mashup with him.
04:49And I'm not sure
04:50how big of a basketball fan
04:52you are
04:52are you following?
04:53Yeah, I follow him.
04:55I've been just speaking
04:56some of the players
04:56about Wemby
04:57what he's been able to do
04:59do you wake up
04:59and look at the highlights
05:00and the stuff he's been able
05:01to do especially
05:02in this series
05:03and yeah
05:04just
05:04what are your thoughts
05:05on what he's doing?
05:08Yeah, I have a lot
05:10of thoughts
05:10I think he's
05:11I think he's
05:12a ridiculous basketball player
05:14I think
05:17he's probably
05:17the best player
05:18in the world right now
05:20in my opinion
05:22I mean the guy
05:23seven foot six
05:24pulling up from the logo
05:25like
05:25he's doing some of the
05:27most ridiculous stuff
05:28I've ever seen
05:29in my life
05:31I think that
05:32they're going to win
05:33to be honest
05:35and I'm cheering
05:36for them
05:38I'd love to see the Spurs
05:39get a title this year
05:41I think that
05:42you know
05:43they have a certain edge
05:44to their team
05:45that I like
05:46like I enjoy watching
05:48we're talking about
05:48this morning
05:49they're probably
05:50the most fun team
05:51to watch
05:51that's still in
05:52but yeah
05:53I follow a good bit
05:55Of the most outrageous
05:56things he's done
05:57because every day
05:59there's some things
05:59is there anything
06:00that sticks to your mind
06:01that kind of blew your mind
06:02like some highlights
06:03are ridiculous
06:04No, I mean
06:04in that one game
06:06where it was like
06:07game on the line
06:08the guy pulls up
06:10from 40 feet
06:10like he's Curry
06:11from the exact spot
06:12that Curry hit a shot
06:14game on the line
06:14in the conference finals
06:18and like I said
06:19he's 7 foot 6
06:23Ben
06:24you guys put
06:25the American men
06:26that is
06:26put 3 in the round
06:27of 16 last year
06:28that was a huge performance
06:292 more in the quarters
06:31the general consensus
06:33I've gotten
06:33from Francis
06:34and Alex
06:35and even people
06:35in the media
06:36is that these conditions
06:37this heat
06:38faster playing court
06:39is good for all you guys
06:40as a group
06:41but you just seem
06:41to have your own
06:42specifications on that
06:43where you like it
06:44a little slow
06:44but I just wondered
06:45in general
06:45if you think
06:46this heat
06:46is good
06:47for the American men
06:48yeah
06:48I mean
06:49it's
06:51every guy
06:52is different
06:53you know
06:54I think
06:54that in general
06:55yes
06:55I think
06:56that we're
06:56just more
06:57used to
06:58dealing with it
06:58all of us
06:59live in Florida
07:01so that physical
07:02part becomes
07:03less of a factor
07:03and yeah
07:04most of us
07:05do play
07:05play well
07:06on fast courts
07:08but I think
07:09that it's just
07:09the stage
07:10that we're playing
07:11on
07:11one it's a slam
07:12you know
07:12it's covered
07:13by TNT
07:14Bleacher Report
07:14and all the
07:15you know
07:16especially for me
07:17and Francis
07:17like
07:19those are like
07:20where we watch
07:21all our NBA
07:22highlights
07:23so it's cool
07:24to see that
07:25they picked up
07:26this tournament
07:27and there's so much
07:28hype
07:28in the U.S.
07:30around this tournament
07:31now
07:31I think that that
07:32plays a big role
07:34in the improvement
07:35and results
07:37in my opinion
07:38I think that
07:40the heat
07:40is a factor
07:41as well
07:42and is going
07:42to help us
07:43but
07:44I expect
07:46you know
07:46good things
07:49from this U.S.
07:50group
07:50that we have
07:50this tournament
07:53your favorite
07:54grounds
07:55probably
07:55the hard court
07:56but how did
07:57you adapt
07:57your game
07:58to be better
07:59on clay
07:59or to be
08:00more comfortable
08:01and maybe
08:02the sliding
08:02you train
08:03a lot about
08:03on the sliding
08:06yeah
08:06train a little
08:07bit of sliding
08:11and I think
08:13that you know
08:13with my game
08:14style
08:14you have
08:14a little bit
08:15more time
08:16I think
08:16putting an
08:17emphasis
08:17on being
08:18able to find
08:19a lot of
08:19forehands
08:20dictate with
08:20my forehand
08:21is really
08:22important
08:23but yeah
08:23the movement
08:24is the most
08:25important piece
08:26last question
08:27Nick Fenn here
08:29for be careful
08:31they look good
08:31too
08:32they look good
08:33too
08:34do you think
08:35tennis is going
08:35to have to
08:35make some
08:37courts bigger
08:37the way
08:38golf has
08:39expanded holes
08:41the way
08:42you guys
08:42are all
08:42playing
08:45I feel like
08:46they're already
08:47massive
08:47you know
08:48I do feel
08:49that there's
08:49certain tournaments
08:50that it's like
08:52for the size
08:54of tournament
08:54it is
08:55or being on
08:55clay
08:56like for example
08:57Rome center court
08:58is very small
09:00you know
09:00compared to
09:01like the center
09:01courts here
09:02there's no
09:02space there
09:04it's tight
09:04and I
09:07this is really
09:08like my first
09:09time hitting
09:09on it
09:09this year
09:10and I
09:10expected it
09:11to be
09:11bigger
09:12I don't
09:13think that
09:13Chatier
09:14or Ash
09:15or you know
09:16the Wimbledon
09:17center court
09:18stadiums need
09:19to be any
09:20bigger
09:20but I
09:20could see
09:24tournaments
09:25making some
09:26of the outside
09:26courts a
09:27little bigger
09:28just to have
09:28have a more
09:29standardized
09:30field of
09:31play
09:31so it's
09:32not such
09:32a shock
09:34you know
09:34like you're
09:35playing
09:35US Open
09:36outside court
09:37and you feel
09:39like your
09:39back's against
09:39the wall
09:40and the guy's
09:41serving a thousand
09:41miles an hour
09:42and then
09:43you know
09:43you're in Ash
09:44and you're
09:4445 feet behind
09:45the baseline
09:45but I
