00:00I wish I could speak about unity today, but unfortunately we are going through times when not only is violence
00:08rearing its head, but alongside it on the fringes of our magnificent Israeli society, a terrible process is creeping in.
00:17I say this with great pain, a terrible process of brutalization. It is a slow and worrying process that threatens
00:25to enter the mainstream of Israeli society and we will not let it. There are parts of us that are
00:31hardly shocked by violence anymore.
00:34Other parts make light of it. Hardly a day goes by without a murder in Arab society, and there is
00:40no one left who is shocked or surprised. There are parts on the fringes of our society that have normalized
00:46violence, and unfortunately there are those who go even further and even celebrate it, taking pride in it.
00:56We are witnessing a terrible wave of violence carried out by an anarchist mob in Judea and Samaria, acts that
01:04defile our home and deviate from every basic norm, whether moral, legal or Jewish.
01:11I have recently heard from a group of senior commanders in Judea and Samaria who are currently thwarting terrorism in
01:19the sector with great success, that there are indeed days when they are forced to spend the vast majority of
01:24their time dealing with these violent criminal anarchists.
01:28We are being exposed to the disgraceful and ugly behavior of extremists against Christians and Muslims living among us, as
01:37if there were no meaning to basic human morality or the commandments in the Torah of Israel to love the
01:42stranger living by our side.
01:44And we are exposed to the savage actions of a handful of people who think that detainees under interrogation or
01:52suspects have no human rights at all.
01:57Beloved is man, for he was created in the image of God. It is said in our sources, I stand
02:03here and say with one voice, unity begins with humanity.
02:07Maintaining human dignity, the divine image within is a fundamental condition for everything we are building, even in the most
02:15just of all wars.
02:17Yes, in this most just of wars, we must preserve the divine image in us and in everyone living among
02:26us or at our side.
02:27Our nation is truly magnificent, possessing immense strength, but to use that power, we must set clear red lines for
02:36ourselves.
02:38Abuse in detainees is forbidden, no matter how despicable they may be, taking the law into one's own hands is
02:44forbidden, harming members of other religions and their symbols is forbidden, and we must not tolerate this brutalization that emerges
02:51from the fringes of society and threatens us all.
