00:00Mercedes are going to meet somewhere in the middle here, sprint race, Montreal lights out, away we go, and Russell
00:05does get away well, Antonelli may be a little bit slower, but he's covered off Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri,
00:11and under pressure there, the McLaren with Lewis Hamilton going around the outside of Piastri, and now trying to get
00:16on terms with Norris, Piastri will fight that back, as Russell leads from Antonelli, the McLaren has been passed by
00:23Lewis Hamilton, Oscar Piastri has dropped a place already, we see a few skirmishes at the back,
00:29but they're all clean and through, overtake going on, this is Nikhil HĂĽlkenberg earlier on in the lap, I think
00:35that was Pierre Gasly trying to make an overtake a little bit earlier, and HĂĽlkenberg with the Alpine on his
00:41right-hand side, forced off into the grass, that had been Colin Pinto that he was battling with, new Audi
00:47engine for this year, new Honda engine for this year, and the Audi power accelerating HĂĽlkenberg past, a very good
00:54getaway there, Martin, from George Russell.
00:56What a turnaround, Russell had the best start of anybody in the top ten there.
01:01Antonelli, for one moment, thought he might have been a bit under pressure, certainly Lando Norris was under pressure, and
01:07very much Oscar Piastri as Hamilton swoops past.
01:10Yeah, Hamilton knew where to place his car, he's been around here enough times, we're not going to see that.
01:16So yeah, they get away, they're really fine-tuning this, they're almost in unison, weren't they?
01:21So now Hamilton's got the inside line for one, and is then able to try to overlap Norris, and get
01:28good drive, because he ends up on the outside of turn three, and that's enough for better traction, and a
01:33position.
01:34On board with Alex Albon, further down the pecking order, the car ahead of him is Valtteri Bottas at the
01:41Cavalier, kind of on his own now, in 11th place.
01:45Ah, engine problem.
01:47Ah, ****.
01:48Okay, we're investigating.
01:50I didn't want to say too much too soon, but he's definitely lost touch with those ahead of him.
01:55Keeping it a little bit wide in the hairpin, that makes you slow off the corner, and he's put Antonelli
02:00right onto his gearbox.
02:01It's as close as Antonelli has been in this race so far, and he pulls out the triangle wheel-to
02:06-wheel through that chicane.
02:07George Russell manages to fend him off, but can he fend him off now down this main straight?
02:13This could be a perfect opportunity for Antonelli to try and strike.
02:16Into the first corner we go, and on the inside, Antonelli gets ahead, forces, and now goes off the track.
02:24George Russell manages to keep that lead, but that was to Mercedes, getting way too close.
02:29And for comfort, as far as the team are concerned.
02:32This is the point I'm trying to make.
02:33He might be better in second place towards the end of this race.
02:36So here's Antonelli now, who's looking at the inside, switches to the outside, and then has to go off.
02:43And off again, Antonelli!
02:45And that one was an awful lot worse and a lot bumpier.
02:48And that's going to slow him down.
02:49And he's going to lose a place to Lando Norris.
02:51And the skirmish is going on, and that has really affected Kimi Antonelli's race.
03:01So let's just keep it cool.
03:04Let's just get this back under control, Kimi.
03:06Focus on Norris.
03:07Focus on the driving.
03:08Yeah, I don't care.
03:08He put me off.
03:10He put me off.
03:11Under guidance, Kimi Antonelli, and getting a little bit more irritated.
03:16Concentrate on the driving, please, and not on the radio morning.
03:19Wow, Toto Wolff getting involved on lap eight here to keep his young charge just a little bit cooler than
03:27he is at the moment.
03:28Isaac Hadjar out of the race.
03:30We heard engine problems and the loss of power, and he's been retired by Red Bull from this sprint race,
03:36which is hotting up.
03:37Keeping George Russell honest here as Isaac Hadjar comes back out into the race again.
03:44So whatever they found with the engine, a quick control or delete might have sorted the problem.
03:50He's looking in his mirrors and thinking, right, when do I keep out of the way here?
03:53And they didn't quite catch the back marker before that chicane, which will be good news if you're Lando Norris,
03:59and not so good news, I think, if you're George Russell.
04:01That's how he's doing it.
04:02It's just a bit of a roach.
04:04Yeah, I don't think Alex was unduly kind there, to be honest.
04:08I think he could have eased off down that, halfway down that straight, and let them through.
04:12But Lando Norris with a wild rear slide.
04:16Let's have a look as Piastri's attacking.
04:18And Lewis then probably took a bit more speed in than he ideally wanted.
04:22Bang.
04:22Yeah, that was more than a touch, wasn't it?
04:26Picking up a couple of points.
04:27Starting seventh, about to finish seventh.
04:29Hamilton says the car looks good.
04:30He needs to look at his mirrors, too, because here comes Oscar Piastri down towards turn one, and the McLaren
04:36right behind the Ferrari here.
04:38As I said, this bodes really well for tomorrow's race.
04:42So down to the hairpin.
04:44Once more, graining issues on George Russell's car.
04:47Lando locked up on the way in.
04:49That's put him under pressure.
04:50Put him under pressure from the other Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli.
04:54And he's got electrical power to try and get him on terms.
04:57And he goes through that final chicane.
05:00About two car lengths behind Lando might just have gone away with that lockup, that slight lockup, into the hairpin.
05:06But it has certainly cost him in terms of trying to get into the lead as Antonelli makes the move,
05:11but overshoots the corner.
05:13He'll have to give the place back.
05:15Piastri overtook Hamilton as well in all of this.
05:18But, yeah, he has to give that place back.
05:20Antonelli has given that place back.
05:23And Piastri up to four.
05:24Starting from pole, thinking, right, now's my opportunity to make a mark here.
05:28My teammates had all the momentum recently in this sprint race.
05:32I'm going to make it mine, and he has made it his.
05:35George Russell, for the second year here in Montreal, crosses the line, breaches the flag, and wins.
05:40This time it is the sprint.
05:42Lando Norris ahead of Kimi Antonelli to take second place with Antonelli third.
05:47And then Piastri to the line under pressure from Charles Leclerc.
05:51And just a car length in it, as he takes fourth ahead of Leclerc in fifth and Hamilton in sixth.
05:57Verstappen will finish seventh.
05:59Horsley was out.
06:00Good job.
06:01Lando was quick there.
06:04Yeah, good job.
06:08Let's check the flag.
06:10Yeah, if we need to race like this, then good enough.
06:13Kimi, now it's the first time to talk about this.
06:15We talk about this internally and not on the radio, okay?
