The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro boasts impressive specs like a titanium body and 10-day battery life for almost half the price of an Apple Watch Ultra. But there's a catch. Watch our full review to see how it performs and if it's available in your country.

00:00Don't want to spend big on an Apple Watch? This is an Apple Watch Ultra and this is the much
00:05cheaper
00:05Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro. It's almost half the price, very accurate during my testing and the battery
00:12lasts ages. But there's a catch. Huawei Telecom's devices still aren't available in the US at the
00:18moment due to the ongoing ban, but they are available in the UK and Europe. People in the US
00:23could be missing out on perhaps one of the best running watches I've tested this year so far.
00:28The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is a titanium alloy watch with a 1.92 inch screen capable of 3
00:35,000 nits of
00:35brightness, the same as the Apple Watch Ultra 3. Its battery life can last up to an impressive 10 days
00:41or 25 hours in GPS mode. It's thinner than the Apple Watch Ultra series, as you can see, but retains
00:47that
00:47distinctive side bump that protects the digital crown. It works with iOS and Android, although you
00:53do need to sideload apps like Huawei Health via your internet browser so it won't work seamlessly with
00:59apps and experiences like Maps or Wallet, and it uses its own proprietary versions like Petal Maps
01:04and Curve Pay. It also needs a third-party Spotify controller app, and you get WhatsApp via the usual
01:11notifications, not a dedicated app. This can be a pain point for some people, but it can sync with apps
01:17like Komoot and Strava, so you're not totally left in the lurch. It's also very accurate. I tested the
01:24Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro at the watch's launch event in Paris against the biggest, baddest watch I could
01:29find, the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro, which cleaves very closely to the Apple Watch Ultra series during my
01:35testing. Here's how I got on.
01:37Alright, as you can probably tell, I'm running in Paris, testing the Huawei Watch Fit against the
01:44Garmin Fenix 8 Pro, which I've got on the other wrist. We're gonna dive into the stats when I get
01:49back to see if the
01:51heart rate, distance and GPS of the much cheaper Watch Fit 5 Pro match up with the
01:59much more expensive and well-tested Garmin Fenix 8 Pro, which I use as a litmus test. We'll dive into
02:07the
02:07stats later. See you after the run.
02:18Back in the studio, and you can see there wasn't much statistical difference between the recorded
02:23workouts between the two watches, either by distance, pace or average heart rate. I make that a great
02:29result. Huawei consistently make pretty good watches, and if you're on a Huawei phone, or you can ignore
02:35having a different ecosystem between your phone and your watch, they're generally a great buy. Obviously,
02:41US folks are unfortunately out of luck, but if you're in the UK or Europe, you can get the Huawei
02:47Watch Fit 5 Pro
02:48from today.
