00:00To keep from starving to death, a boy snaps off a piece of a plant's root.
00:03He shoves it in his mouth and starts chewing like crazy.
00:06But surprisingly, the taste isn't half bad.
00:08So next, he tries eating some of the wild grass on the ground.
00:11And as it turns out, that grass is just as sweet and fresh.
00:14So, feeling a bit bolder now, he starts slowly making his way deeper into the island.
00:18But then, out of nowhere, this crazy chattering noise erupts all around him.
00:22The boy takes a closer look and sees a ton of meerkats standing right in the middle of a pond.
00:27They're all staring at this giant creature that just showed up.
00:29And weirdly enough, they don't look scared at all.
00:32But Pi couldn't care less about these little guys.
00:34All he wants is to finally take a good, proper bath.
00:38After Pi shoos them all away, he doesn't hesitate for a second and just jumps right into the water.
00:43Feeling that fresh coolness again after so long, he can't help but splash around and swim.
00:47But right after his bath, as he's about to find a spot to crash, that tiger suddenly shows up here
00:52too.
00:52It's already chowing down on meerkats.
00:54And here's the strange part.
00:55These meerkats clearly see a predator right in front of them, but they don't even try to run.
00:59Pi's laughing on the outside, but inside, he's totally confused.
01:03Then, fast forward to evening.
01:04All of a sudden, the meerkats start freaking out and scattering in every direction.
01:08Pi has no clue what's going on.
01:10Even the tiger panics and bolts back to the boat.
01:12But when late night hits, and he sees every single meerkat scrambling to the highest branches,
01:16that's when Pi finally realizes something's seriously off.
01:19And then, out of nowhere, this blinding light erupts from the pond.
01:22At the same time, a bunch of dead fish float up to the surface.
01:26But what's even weirder, it looks like something completely dissolved their bodies,
01:30leaving nothing but bare skeletons behind.
01:32Pi is totally lost.
01:33He can't figure out what dark secret this island is hiding.
01:36Even the tiger, usually so fierce, is just lying quietly on the boat right now,
01:40not daring to step foot back on the island.
01:42Then, curiosity gets the better of him.
01:44Pi picks this strangely shaped flower from a tree.
01:46He pries open the petals to take a look.
01:48And hidden inside is a human tooth.
01:50Pi can't believe his own eyes, because this island might actually be a man-eater.
01:54He knows without a doubt, he has to get out of here, now.
01:57So the very next morning, at first light, Pi loads up some food onto the boat.
02:00And most of that food is just more of those roots from that plant.
02:03Sure, it's not a ton of supplies, but he knows he has to leave this island immediately.
02:07Then, drifting along out on the open sea for a while,
02:09he finally runs out of every last bit of food on the boat.
02:12All Pi can do now is pray, every single day, just to stay alive,
02:16and hope that somehow, something out there will send him a meal.
02:19But then, lucky for him, it turns out his prayers are actually answered.
02:22Because he happens to hit the exact season when the flying fish migrate.
02:26Out of nowhere, countless fish start launching at them like a living rainstorm.
02:29So many that it almost feels like they're about to be buried alive.
02:32Pi has to use both hands just to shield his body,
02:35trying not to get pummeled by all those flying fish.
02:37The tiger, though, he doesn't care at all.
02:39He's just too busy stuffing his face.
02:40Finally, he gets to eat until he's full again.
