Short filmTranscript
00:05This time, on highway through hell, a Herculean lift, as Jamie and Jazz airing up, a logging
00:19crew's hopes, hang on Rob's hook, and a trailblazing rescue takes reliable way off-road.
00:42Spring has arrived, in British Columbia's interior.
00:49I hate the snow, I hate the cold weather, spring has sprung and the sunshine and I'm happy
00:56for that.
00:59Charging down the Coquihalla Highway, the newest addition, to Jamie Davis's fleet, Hercules,
01:12a railway wrecker with a 150-ton lift capacity, triple the power of a 50-ton rotator.
01:25As far as roadway wrecks are concerned, Hercules is about the most massive machine you can get
01:32on wheels.
01:34We're going to do this job today, another company called us out for this to give them
01:39a hand.
01:40Big truck coming down here.
01:42I'm very proud of this machine, and I'm looking forward to finding out what it can do.
01:48Live at large.
01:58Just ahead of Jamie, in the 50-ton wrecker, HR 100.
02:04Oh man.
02:07Mitch Mahood.
02:09It's my second time using the 50-ton.
02:12I'm excited to be able to show Jamie what I've learned up to this point.
02:18Wow.
02:24Oh, there's a truck on the side here.
02:34Damn.
02:36Looking at it, it's a nasty wreck.
02:40Oh, it's pretty bowed out, eh?
02:42The front's actually broken open.
02:44The customer wants it brought up intact.
02:47So we're going to attempt to do that.
02:50I have mixed feelings about this job.
02:53I think it's a 50-50 deal here.
02:56Having all the muscle you can have on this job, you can lift whatever you want to lift,
03:01but this thing will tear up or rip up.
03:05No, that's not good.
03:06No, that's not good.
03:09Oh, that's not good.
03:12No.
03:12No.
03:30What happened on the Cope?
03:32It's a semi-rollover.
03:3430 kilometers south of Kamloops.
03:37Oh, the truck went in the ditch?
03:39Jamie's brought out his biggest iron.
03:43It's a big job here.
03:45For a heavy recovery.
03:47What are you doing on my job, boy?
03:50But it's not even his.
03:53How are you doing?
03:54Good, good. How are you doing?
03:55Good.
03:56The job belongs to 21-year-old Jasran and his company,
04:01Coquihalla Towing.
04:03Jamie helped me out right when I was starting out.
04:07Since then, we've been pretty good friends.
04:09I've learned a lot from him.
04:11Ten tons, big winch.
04:12Well, that's all we need.
04:14I bought Mighty Moe from Jamie.
04:17But I'm running my 16-ton today just because Mighty Moe is in the shop.
04:23Jas and his brother, Armand Saran,
04:27have been running their tow business for two years
04:30with support from their dad to Jinder Paul.
04:35Jas is learning and figuring things out,
04:38and he's got such a good personality.
04:41This is going to be a really tough job.
04:44Yeah.
04:48Early yesterday morning, the transport lost the road,
04:54coming to a rest on a head-down angle
04:57with its roof lower than its wheels.
05:04It's going to be, uh, iffy.
05:07We've got a head-down wreck here.
05:11This thing's 20 degrees below the level line.
05:17It makes everything a lot harder.
05:19And the cargo...
05:21It's loaded with bread,
05:22and the customer really wants it done fast.
05:24...has a time limit.
05:26If we start unloading this,
05:28we are going to be here for days,
05:30and I doubt the cargo will be able to be salvaged.
05:34This is bad because of the load, right?
05:36It's a load of bread.
05:37We have a limited time to save that load.
05:40But to recover it loaded...
05:43These trailers are very weak.
05:45...is impossible with wreckers alone.
05:48The load would go through the side of the trailer.
05:50The only way to do this is with airbags.
05:54So we'll just start with the airbags.
05:57Bringing in the specialized inflatables,
06:00Jamie's new utility truck, HU88.
06:06Driven by his younger brother...
06:08Hang on.
06:10...Kelly Davis.
06:12Sometimes the wrecks are so big,
06:14you need extra people.
06:15Do we have guys for this?
06:18We enjoy working together.
06:20We always have.
06:22Well, the airbags are up here.
06:27Yeah, bring two guys up.
06:29This utility truck that Jamie has...
06:32How do you say it again?
06:33Audio.
06:35It's a pretty cool little unit.
06:40Yeah, pull them up.
06:42Two guys lift.
06:43Yeah.
06:50Nice.
06:50I want that thing too.
06:54As the crew unloads the airbags...
06:56Middle of the trailer.
06:58...Jamie sets up the inflation system.
07:06Get a couple of guys on shovels.
07:08...and digs in to the dirty work.
07:10Okay.
07:12We need some gap for these starter bags to fit under.
07:16Oh, it's hard, eh?
07:17Usually we're dealing with snow, but in the dirt,
07:21it's going to mean some brutally hard work.
07:23It's a lot more than we thought.
07:25It's holding up everything.
07:27While space is dug out for the first airbags...
07:31Let's get setting up so we're not wasting no time.
07:34The team...
07:35The pocket, maybe?
07:37Probably around the rear end.
07:39...rigs up.
07:40You got a shackle?
07:41Right there.
07:43And the wreckers...
07:45...get into position for the pole.
07:49We want to be able to get the recovery strap around the back end
07:52and then look for other places where we can put some more bags under.
08:04That's good.
08:07Hercules will cradle the trailer with a strap
08:10and tall on the middle with its deck winch
08:15while H.R. 100 puts lines to the tractor and trailer
08:21and Jazz's 16-ton takes the back end.
08:27Everything good?
08:28Yeah.
08:29Jamie's ready on the highway side.
08:32How we making out?
08:33But first...
08:34Well, that's enough.
08:35Now we can get under, right?
08:37We'll get the airbags going and get this thing happening.
08:40Here, why don't you put that one just under here?
08:43Close as you can.
08:50There you go.
08:51Okay.
08:55Going up now?
08:57I have no experience with airbags.
08:59They're completely different from all other jobs that we do.
09:04Stay back, stay back.
09:05If that pops out, it'll take us right out.
09:07Be careful.
09:08You can blow apart.
09:11Jamie is the airbag master here,
09:13and I'm just going to kind of follow what he says.
09:16As the airbags lift...
09:20Whoa!
09:22The trailer is feeling the strain.
09:25I don't know if she's going to hang together.
09:27If that load is towards the roof, it may break open.
09:31More bags.
09:32Another one here.
09:34Right there.
09:35Yeah.
09:36It's a hard job, this one.
09:37Oh, yeah.
09:38Because it's head down, you know?
09:41We're below the flat line.
09:43We're negative degrees here.
09:45So, just getting it from negative to flat is a big job.
09:50So, let's go tighten our stuff up on the other side.
09:55Jamie...
09:56Okay, wind her up.
09:57Decides to take an unusual step.
10:00A little bit.
10:05Okay, stop.
10:05And I only want to take the slack and stop.
10:08Most of the time, we want to let the airbags just do the job.
10:12Hang on.
10:14But here is a kind of an anomaly.
10:16They actually are needing extra lift from the machinery.
10:21Good enough.
10:22Because this thing is so head down.
10:25But despite the added lift...
10:27The more weight seems to be in here.
10:30Yeah.
10:31The load inside...
10:34I can feel the airbag struggling to lift it up.
10:37...is proving heavier than anyone expected.
10:40So, it's not bread.
10:42It's those pita wraps.
10:45That would explain why it's so heavy.
10:48When we were told 20,000 pounds total,
10:51I think we're dealing with a lot more weight.
10:55A load of pita bread could be maximum weight.
10:5842,000 pounds.
11:00To help with the extra weight,
11:02the crew starts to rig a second strap.
11:05Okay.
11:06Hang on. Hang on.
11:08But Jamie quickly calls it off.
11:11I've decided not to use it.
11:13Because it's going to ply that force against the trailer.
11:16Now let it hang there.
11:19The wall could crack open and your load's sitting on the ground.
11:23Let's just do our airbags.
11:26Once the bags are actually in there properly,
11:28it'll be much better, right?
11:30Yeah.
11:31They have to be down a foot at least.
11:33The airbags are tricky,
11:35but we're just going to get her done.
11:39Staying the course.
11:41They're still working away.
11:48The team.
11:50A little of my way a bit.
11:52Hustles.
11:54Get out, get out, get out.
11:57To get the bags.
11:59Now we're getting somewhere.
12:00Completely under the trailer.
12:03That's what you want, right there.
12:08It's been a lot of hard work.
12:10We're kind of at about the halfway mark.
12:12What are you thinking?
12:13Maybe tighten up on that slowly as well, eh?
12:16Not a bad idea.
12:17Jazz is developing and learning and pretty sharp.
12:21Yeah, at least taking up the slack a little bit.
12:23But it's very important now not to overwinch it.
12:27Okay.
12:27The bags will blow up.
12:28Okay.
12:30As the airbags lift the trailer,
12:33the wreckers will help take the weight
12:38until the trailer is high enough
12:41for their winches to take over.
12:49Good to go?
12:50Okay.
12:53Mitch!
12:55Either side, Mitch.
12:58Round one.
12:59We're trying to be gentle and take up the slack.
13:02Kelly!
13:04You want the weight to be on the bags
13:06or they'll blow out.
13:11Okay.
13:12Stop, stop!
13:13Move!
13:14Move!
13:18What's the word on the coke?
13:20Jimmy Davis, do you want to recover?
13:2330 kilometers south of Kamloops.
13:26Stop, stop!
13:28Go!
13:29Jamie faces off.
13:31Move!
13:31With a formidable airbag job.
13:35I want to keep pulling.
13:36But with airbags,
13:38if you don't lay off those controls,
13:40you're going to destroy the whole job.
13:43Okay.
13:43Okay.
13:44That's good.
13:46Early yesterday morning,
13:48the transport lost the road
13:53and landed with its roof lower than its wheels.
13:59Now, Jamie...
14:01Now do yours.
14:01Do yours, Jazz.
14:02And Jazz
14:04are fighting the negative angle.
14:08This thing's so heavy,
14:09so head down.
14:10It's taking the bags
14:12and the machinery
14:13to lift this thing.
14:15How much you got on?
14:16Just keep the slack, right?
14:18Yeah.
14:20We're just letting the airbags do the work
14:22and we're kind of just helping them up a little bit.
14:25Okay, I'm going to lift a bit.
14:28Jamie climbs into Hercules
14:32and takes control
14:35of 150 tons of lifting power.
14:39Doing this first recovery with this unit,
14:42I'm learning here.
14:43You have to be the gentle giant.
14:46Having the ability to lift 300,000 pounds
14:49at a touch of the fingertip,
14:52I could boom up
14:53and just tear that thing apart.
14:57Jazz keeps an eye on the other side.
15:01Even if one of these airbags pop out,
15:04the trailer can be ripped
15:05and it could be a mess
15:06that we're cleaning up here for days.
15:08Are they coming up okay?
15:10Yeah.
15:13As the airbags inflate,
15:16lifting up to 50,000 pounds
15:19of fully loaded trailer...
15:22I'm going to go up a bit.
15:26The heavy wreckers...
15:27Give me a little kelp.
15:28Keep pace.
15:31The bags...
15:32They're doing their job
15:34and we just keep going inch by inch.
15:40But as the bags reach full height...
15:46What?
15:47One of the bags is out!
15:48At the bottom!
15:59The bags lift 96 inches.
16:01They're out of lift.
16:03As this goes up,
16:04it comes out.
16:05Yeah.
16:05But if you get them down more,
16:06they'll push more.
16:07Okay.
16:09As the trailer comes up,
16:11the load is sliding down low
16:13against the wall.
16:15Let's shuffle these bags in.
16:17These bags need to be positioned
16:19as deep in as they can be.
16:22Try not to be under the load, okay?
16:26Dangerous.
16:28When we're going to move it in,
16:29go under the trailer then
16:31for the moment, right?
16:32Okay.
16:33We have to really, really
16:34work these bags
16:36to their best ability
16:37to get them in
16:38where they need to be.
16:39And if we don't do that,
16:41we could have a fail.
16:42Careful, careful!
16:44Two guys, that's it.
16:44Two guys.
16:45Two guys, hey, be careful!
16:47You know, danger, right?
16:48I'm kind of getting nervous.
16:50They do not want
16:51the trailer to rip.
16:53Keep going!
16:54Quick, quick!
17:12Still snowing out there.
17:15500 kilometers north.
17:17Warming up good.
17:18Melt this stuff.
17:19Near Quenelle.
17:21On the Barkerville Highway,
17:39is our main industry.
17:54He keeps all the guys working.
17:56So they get us coming
17:58as quick as they can.
17:59Hopefully help them
18:00get out of there.
18:03Here comes the towed drinking.
18:08Rob arrives
18:10to find the logging company crew
18:14with a picker truck.
18:16He was here pretty quick.
18:20Unloading the wreck.
18:21Picker truck.
18:23It's a self-loading logging truck
18:26with a grapple
18:27that can lift up the logs.
18:30And then he can take
18:31all the wood
18:32to its sawmill.
18:34I'm on my way.
18:40With its valuable load removed.
18:43Look to see how much damage there is.
18:48For what it did
18:50and moving some trees
18:52doesn't look too bad really.
18:56Losing a logging truck
18:57is hard
18:58because they can't
19:00replace the truck
19:00overnight.
19:02If I can get it out
19:03without hurting it
19:04maybe they can fix it
19:06and get them back to work.
19:07But pulling it out
19:09unscathed
19:10That one tree
19:11I don't like that.
19:13is easier said
19:14than done.
19:15I just don't want it
19:16to get caught up in there
19:17and bugger things up.
19:19That can be unpleasant.
19:27Five and a half hours south.
19:29There you go.
19:30Jamie's airbags
19:31have run out of lift.
19:34I'll blow that one up
19:35and we'll do the ball.
19:38We're repositioning the bags
19:39one last time
19:40just to make sure
19:41we get the height we need.
19:45Jazz and his team
19:47Good enough.
19:48Let's go.
19:49are in a risky spot.
19:51I'm worried about
19:52this thing hanging here.
19:54It's big weight.
19:55You know it's dangerous.
19:56Let's just get it in there.
19:58Okay.
19:59We want to get this done
20:00as quick as possible.
20:05With the last of the airbags
20:07They're almost there, eh?
20:09moved in under the load.
20:10There's not even too much weight
20:12on this wall anymore.
20:13The recovery
20:14has reached a turning point.
20:17It's time to do wreckers.
20:19We're at that point.
20:21Once we've got them down
20:22where they need to be,
20:23then it's on.
20:25Mitch!
20:25Kelly!
20:26Let's get on the wrecker.
20:29With Mitch in the front,
20:31Jazz at the back,
20:32and Kelly
20:34on Hercules'
20:3545,000-pound deck winch,
20:39Jamie climbs back
20:40into the railway wrecker
20:42You ready to go?
20:43to lead the charge.
20:46The point where the wreckers
20:47are taking over
20:48from the airbags,
20:49that's the most crucial
20:51part of a lift.
20:53Get her!
20:55This is the most nervous point
20:58in a recovery for me.
21:00Pull!
21:01Pull! Pull!
21:02Point of no return.
21:07Move!
21:09That's the moment
21:10it could go bad.
21:15All right,
21:16backs are out!
21:19Y'all get her!
21:25Oh!
21:26Oh my god!
21:29Oh my,
21:30man, look at this.
21:32Crazy, man!
21:34On the Coquihalla,
21:35south of Kamloops,
21:37Get her!
21:40Whoa!
21:41Jamie
21:41Oh my god!
21:43and Jazz
21:44Pull it!
21:45have lost
21:46a winch line
21:47at a crucial moment.
21:50Next thing you know,
21:52the chain's off.
21:53That's when things
21:54can go wrong.
21:55Airbags are out!
21:57Nothing is supporting up.
21:59The airbags are out
22:00and now it's all up to us.
22:02Hook it back up for me,
22:04will you?
22:04Hook it back in the wheel.
22:06Yeah!
22:07We don't want to be too slow
22:09because we don't want
22:11that thing to tip back over.
22:13That's good!
22:15Second up.
22:16With the deck winch
22:17re-hooked...
22:19All kill!
22:27...the trailer...
22:30...whoo!
22:32He's coming in.
22:33...is brought down.
22:36Good!
22:37We've got the unit upright,
22:39but it still has
22:41a terrible lean to it.
22:42Let's get Mitch unhooked now.
22:47We've got to get him
22:48hooked up on the front.
22:52The 50-ton gets in position
22:55to pull the wreck ahead.
22:57Good there!
22:58But as they hook up
23:00to the tractor...
23:01I don't think this thing
23:02is strong enough.
23:03No.
23:04I think we're going to have
23:05to take the whole bumper off.
23:07This is going to take time.
23:10We just have to work at it,
23:12keep going at it
23:13until we get it off.
23:14I won't feel good
23:15until the unit's
23:17on the pavement.
23:20It's in there, Pete.
23:21To the north,
23:2345 minutes outside Quenelle...
23:25That one tree...
23:27Rob's logging truck recovery
23:29is held up by a tree.
23:32Service truck got a chainsaw?
23:35So Rob recruits
23:36one of the loggers...
23:41We'll have to cut it down
23:42so it doesn't hurt
23:43the truck anymore
23:43coming out.
23:50With his work
23:51cut out for him.
23:53I'm going to block
23:54a whole thing for you, man.
23:56Copy.
23:58Rob brings in the iron.
24:04I'll put a line on it.
24:07Give it a little tug.
24:10So I'm going to hook on to the hitch
24:12that pulls the trailer.
24:19The cab is torqued
24:21towards the ground.
24:22I think it'll stand up.
24:24We hope.
24:25So Rob uses the twist
24:27to his advantage.
24:34Hopefully I'll pull it backwards
24:36and the truck will roll over
24:37and fall back on his feet.
24:45That was easy enough, eh?
24:49Now on its wheels.
24:51If someone wants to hop in there
24:52and steer it.
24:54Rob must drag the wreck
24:57up the bank
25:03through three feet
25:05of wet snow.
25:06The brakes are on.
25:08That snow, it's warm out.
25:11It's even heavier.
25:12It could double the pull.
25:18But as the tractor crests the shoulder...
25:25Yeah, that's not good.
25:27Rob spots a pressure point.
25:30Dragging a bit.
25:31We could rip tanks off.
25:33The tanks on these logging trucks,
25:35they kind of hang off
25:36the bottom of the truck.
25:37They tear off really easy.
25:40Can we get someone to watch that?
25:43Raising his boom for more lift.
25:47We'll keep the tanks up high.
25:51Those tanks in there
25:52coming okay?
25:55They can be okay.
25:59The fuel and air tanks
26:02glide over the snow.
26:07It worked well.
26:09The air tanks,
26:10they come out nice.
26:12With the wreck out of the woods...
26:14I'm just going to drive ahead.
26:16I'm going to drag it up
26:16off the road.
26:20Rob moves quick
26:21to reopen the highway.
26:25A little traffic, go.
26:26We can single-lane it again.
26:31Traffic started moving now.
26:36And his customers...
26:38Not a broken window?
26:41...will soon be back to logging.
26:46Pretty amazing.
26:48I'm just happy
26:50we got out of the trees
26:51without doing any more damage.
26:53We can get loaded
26:54and get out of here.
26:56So I'll haul it down
26:57to a shop to fix it
26:59before it can go back to work.
27:00It's a smooth finish...
27:02Okay.
27:03...to a busy season
27:04for Team Auto.
27:08It was just kind of nice
27:09and comfy
27:10and everybody was happy.
27:12Overall,
27:13we had a fairly decent winter.
27:26back down south
27:27on the coke.
27:29Here I go.
27:30This,
27:30if it'll be better.
27:31Yeah, yeah.
27:33Jazz and Jamie's team...
27:35Yeah, there you go.
27:37...are removing the bumper...
27:40It's coming!
27:41...to pull the wreck forward.
27:44A rabbit bumper.
27:45It's just for small animals
27:48or anything on the highway.
27:49The hooks,
27:50they're just so weak
27:51and you can't even
27:52do a hill pole with them.
27:54We're good now.
27:55We got it.
27:55With Mitch hooked up,
27:58Jazz climbs in
27:59to steer the truck.
28:00Ready?
28:01Yeah!
28:03And Jamie returns
28:05to the railway wrecker...
28:07We want to make sure
28:08it doesn't flip over.
28:09...to hold the leaning trailer.
28:12We all have to work
28:13in sync with each other
28:14in order that we have
28:16this working out okay.
28:18Mitch begins
28:20to winch out
28:21the nearly 75,000 pound wreck
28:25as Jamie keeps pace
28:27with her killies.
28:30I have to swing
28:32with the load
28:33as it gets pulled out.
28:34Slow and steady.
28:37If I pull too much
28:39and he's too far back
28:40with his boom,
28:41I could tip back over.
28:44Wobbly.
28:45It's doing very bad.
28:47Oh.
28:50It's still working.
28:51Stayed in there for a while.
28:53On the Coquihalla
28:54south of Kamloops...
28:57It's wobbly.
28:58It's doing very bad.
28:59A fully loaded
29:01tractor-trailer...
29:03Oh.
29:04...threatens
29:05to tip back
29:06into the ditch.
29:08Is he winching it ahead
29:09or what?
29:12Mitch...
29:13You want to turn
29:14the wheel a little bit
29:15to the left?
29:16Yeah!
29:17...gets Jazz
29:17to steer toward the road.
29:20I'm going to do
29:20a little swing, okay?
29:22...while Jamie
29:23maintains tension
29:24with a railway wrecker.
29:26The Hercules truck
29:28has to ensure
29:29that trailer
29:29can't flip over again.
29:31We're almost there.
29:33He's almost got her up.
29:36If I can just drive it out...
29:39Briggs!
29:40After seven hours of work...
29:43We make it look too easy.
29:45...the wreck
29:46is finally out.
29:48Nothing the boss man
29:48can't handle.
29:49That was a hard job.
29:51That wasn't an easy one.
29:53Feels great
29:54that the unit's
29:54out of the ditch.
29:55The trailer's
29:56not broken in half.
29:57The load's not
29:58sitting on the ground.
29:59And the airbags
30:00have done their job.
30:03All right.
30:05All that's left here
30:06is for the customer
30:07to deliver the load.
30:09It's because
30:09they're showing the road here.
30:11And Jamie's
30:12new railway wrecker...
30:14This truck worked
30:15like a charm.
30:16...has lived up
30:17to its name.
30:18I'm going to look forward
30:19to doing more recovery
30:20work with Hercules.
30:21It's just such
30:22a powerful machine.
30:25After a long day's work...
30:27Have some pizza.
30:28...the two companies
30:29share a moment
30:30to refuel.
30:32What do you got?
30:32All right.
30:33The red number.
30:33All meat?
30:34Yeah, I'll take that.
30:37Jazz and his crew
30:38did a great job.
30:40Okay.
30:40It was cool
30:41working with Jamie.
30:44Crazy to see
30:45machinery this big.
30:47That's it!
30:48I enjoy working
30:49with Jazz.
30:50I see hard work
30:51ethic in him.
30:52I'm ready to roll.
30:54Makes me want
30:55to help him along.
30:59I think having
31:00community and being
31:01able to help each other
31:02is a big deal.
31:05All right.
31:06We're out of here.
31:11Drive it in, guys.
31:31265 kilometers
31:32southwest
31:35on a Fraser Valley
31:37logging road.
31:41Reliable Towing's
31:42military rotator
31:44hits the backcountry
31:48with Andy Cullen
31:49It's always fun
31:51to go off-road.
31:55And Ethan Boyd.
31:57These jobs can be
31:58very fun,
31:58but you never really
32:00know what you're
32:00getting into.
32:02Should be pretty
32:03interesting in this
32:04truck.
32:04The military truck.
32:06It's a solid unit.
32:07I have no doubt
32:08that it'll handle
32:09any situation
32:10that comes its way.
32:13At an off-roading
32:14trailhead.
32:16How's it going?
32:17Thanks for coming.
32:19No problem.
32:19I'm Andy.
32:20Wayne.
32:21They meet
32:21Wayne Bell.
32:22How far up are you?
32:23It's two and a half
32:25to three kilometers
32:26down a side-by-side trail.
32:28Who needs help
32:29with a stranded
32:30all-terrain vehicle?
32:32Okay.
32:34Andy is familiar
32:35with side-by-sides.
32:36As an active member
32:38of a local
32:39off-roading club.
32:41It's always good
32:42to get out in nature
32:43and let everything go.
32:45Woo!
32:48See what we can do.
32:51Today, Andy...
32:52You know how rough
32:53this ride's about to be.
32:54You gonna come up
32:55with us then?
32:56Yeah.
32:56Okay.
32:58We'll take on
32:59the trail
32:59Let's get her done.
33:01With a six-by-six
33:03military truck.
33:07It's pretty rough.
33:09Being six-wheel drive
33:12will really help out
33:13with some of the more
33:14difficult parts of this trail.
33:17But soon...
33:22Side-by-side is a little smaller.
33:25...meets the overgrown forest.
33:28Ooh, eaty cow.
33:31A narrow trail
33:32and a big white truck
33:33like this.
33:35Whoa.
33:37There could be
33:38some challenging points.
33:40One kilometer in...
33:42Yeah, this is
33:43a gnarly spot.
33:44...is the most
33:45difficult section.
33:47I'm gonna go
33:47check out
33:48what we're doing.
33:52A dried-up
33:54creek crossing...
33:55Well, we got this
33:55big boulder right here.
33:57...will be
33:58a tight squeeze.
33:59Keep the left tire
34:01up here.
34:02I'm gonna stand up
34:03over there
34:03so I can see you.
34:05Sounds good.
34:07That's the most
34:08challenging part
34:08of this trail.
34:10Rock obstacles.
34:11And fitting such
34:12a large truck
34:13through them.
34:16They ready?
34:18Andy...
34:19...has to steer
34:20the 30-foot wrecker...
34:22I don't know
34:23about this.
34:24This might be
34:25too tight.
34:25...through the
34:26narrow corner.
34:28How far am I
34:28from there?
34:29Rock on here, son.
34:30Should have enough
34:31room.
34:32If you can clear
34:32that tree,
34:33we might just
34:34scrape this rock.
34:37We're out
34:38in the wilderness.
34:39We get stuck
34:40out here today,
34:41it's a very big deal.
34:44Yeah, we're still
34:45good.
34:45On this side.
34:54Straight!
34:55Go straight!
35:00We're on the rock.
35:0935 kilometers
35:10into the bush
35:11north of mission.
35:14Reliable
35:15six by six.
35:16We're on the rock.
35:18Is in a tight spot.
35:21It's definitely
35:22a dangerous place
35:22to be
35:23if something happens.
35:24You're out there,
35:25you're stuck.
35:26With some
35:27precise maneuvering...
35:29Just keep it
35:30that way.
35:33We're good?
35:34Andy...
35:35We're okay.
35:37...gets the
35:38eight-foot-wide truck...
35:39You're clear of the boulder.
35:41...through the conflict.
35:44You got it, Andy.
35:45Woo!
35:46Nicely done.
35:54That's driving
35:55at its finest, Andy.
36:01I got into
36:03towing
36:03from being
36:03an avid
36:04outdoor
36:05enthusiast.
36:07Woo!
36:08Good job!
36:09I'm pretty
36:10comfortable
36:10to be up here.
36:17But with the road
36:18ahead
36:19only getting
36:20tighter...
36:21Push your turn
36:22around in this
36:23open spot.
36:25The six by six...
36:27It's gonna be tight.
36:28...will have to
36:29complete the approach
36:32in reverse.
36:34Woo!
36:38Woo!
36:39Woo!
36:40Woo!
36:40Woo!
36:41Woo!
36:41Woo!
36:41Hey, we made it!
36:47It's not too
36:48damaged.
36:49Looks like
36:50it's pretty
36:50repairable.
36:52We'll hook her up
36:54and drag it
36:55back out.
36:56Go through there?
36:57Yeah.
36:58With the
36:59side-by-side
37:00rigged...
37:03...Andy
37:03climbs
37:04into the
37:05turret...
37:08...and
37:09extends
37:09the 18-foot
37:11boom.
37:13We don't
37:14want it to
37:14hit the
37:14truck as
37:15we pull
37:15it away.
37:17To prevent
37:18further
37:18damage,
37:19Andy
37:20has an
37:21idea.
37:21Ride in
37:22there and
37:22drag the
37:22brake so it
37:23doesn't smash
37:24his light
37:24bar or his
37:24roof or
37:25anything.
37:26I'm going
37:27to ride in
37:27the side-by-side
37:29to brake
37:30and accelerate
37:31if needed.
37:34Alright,
37:34let's boogie.
37:36Cross our
37:36fingers that
37:37this goes
37:37smooth.
37:40With
37:40Ethan on
37:41board,
37:45the rough
37:46three-kilometer
37:47journey
37:49kicks off.
37:51It goes
37:52slack,
37:52then it goes
37:53up.
37:53Slack's like
37:54riding a
37:54Bronco.
37:55hole.
37:59Ah!
38:01Holy
38:01crap.
38:04Getting
38:04tossed around
38:05like crazy.
38:06I'm going to get
38:07my head taken
38:07off out here.
38:10Up ahead.
38:12That's it.
38:13They need
38:14to cross
38:14back over
38:16the creek
38:16bed.
38:19Oh,
38:20man.
38:22Alright.
38:24Let's do
38:24this.
38:27With
38:28Ethan
38:28inside,
38:29it's a little
38:30crazy.
38:31I don't know
38:32if this was a
38:33good idea
38:33or not.
38:37I'm driving
38:38it without
38:38being able
38:39to steer.
38:40Completely
38:40relying on
38:41Andy.
38:44Come on,
38:45baby.
38:45Get up
38:45there.
38:49This is
38:50super
38:50sketchy.
38:56It's really
38:56steep.
38:57Almost.
38:58Lots of
38:59loose rocks.
39:00It's hard
39:00to get it
39:00to bite.
39:05Oh,
39:06there we
39:06go.
39:08Whoa.
39:09I'm at
39:10risk of
39:10rolling.
39:12It's intense.
39:13He's right
39:14at the edge
39:15of it.
39:16Keep going,
39:16Andy.
39:17We can't
39:18turn back.
39:19Whoa.
39:22Almost.
39:24There's the rock.
39:26North of
39:26Mission.
39:27There we go.
39:28Reliables Riverbed
39:30Rescue.
39:31Whoa.
39:32Has Ethan.
39:33I'm right at the
39:34tipping point.
39:35along for a
39:36wild ride.
39:37I lean the
39:38opposite way
39:39so I don't
39:39end up on
39:40my lid.
39:42Hey,
39:43Ethan.
39:43It's
39:44Wayne.
39:44The owner.
39:45Can you put it
39:46in drive and drive
39:47it forward just a
39:48little bit?
39:49Tells Ethan
39:50to give it
39:51some gas.
39:55I'm giving it
39:56throttle
39:57to make it over
39:58some of these
39:59obstacles.
40:02There we go.
40:03Perfect.
40:06Whoa.
40:09Oh, we
40:10should have
40:10this.
40:16Having overcome
40:17the tricky
40:18crossing,
40:19go have a look
40:19at this.
40:22Andy checks
40:23in on his
40:23passenger.
40:26Holy cow.
40:27I was like
40:28this.
40:29No, I saw
40:29you sitting
40:30like this.
40:31Nothing I
40:32could do.
40:34The adrenaline
40:35is just,
40:36it's unmatched
40:37right now.
40:38We're good
40:39to go.
40:46But they
40:47still have a
40:48kilometer of
40:49overgrown trail.
40:53Whoa.
40:57Oh, my
40:58goodness.
41:02This short
41:03little trip,
41:04pretty smooth
41:04sailing now
41:05that we're on
41:06that main
41:06road.
41:07It's a lot
41:07of fun.
41:11Arriving
41:11back at the
41:12trailhead.
41:14It's a good
41:14adventure.
41:16The injured
41:17side-by-side
41:18is loaded
41:19onto the
41:20owner's
41:20trailer.
41:23That's good.
41:24Okay.
41:25Wayne's happy
41:26we got his
41:26machine out
41:27without any
41:27further damage.
41:31Nice, guys.
41:31Couldn't have
41:32done it without
41:32you.
41:33Yeah, anytime.
41:34Appreciate it.
41:34It was fun
41:35seeing you get
41:35around that
41:36corner.
41:37Yeah, we get
41:38things placed
41:39as most people
41:39don't want to
41:40try.
41:41Good day,
41:41successful day.
41:43It's time to
41:44clear out and get
41:44out of here.
41:45That's it.
41:46All right,
41:47let's rock and
41:47roll.
41:55With the
41:55people we
41:56have, the
41:57different
41:57experiences we
41:58have, I'm so
41:59impressed with
42:00the ability to
42:01get the jobs
42:01done.
42:02That's a great
42:03feeling, so I'm
42:04impressed.
42:05I think the
42:05future's really
42:06bright for this
42:06company.
42:13Nice and
42:14warm.
42:15In hope,
42:16it's almost
42:17like summer.
42:18From Jamie's
42:19yard, it's
42:21just a stone's
42:22throw to
42:24Silver Creek.
42:28It's kind of
42:29our little secret
42:30swimming hole.
42:32This is where I
42:33come and hang
42:34out, enjoy
42:36nature.
42:39It's a changing
42:40world.
42:43The economy,
42:45global warming,
42:46the industry
42:47itself, pretty
42:49unpredictable,
42:51lots of
42:52competition.
42:55I think the
42:56secret right now
42:56is to be
42:57diversified.
42:58Different
42:58equipment that
42:59we have for
43:00different clients
43:02in different
43:03industries, not
43:04just transport.
43:06Things will
43:07work out.
43:09Sometimes you
43:10just got to let
43:10the river run.
43:13Take care,
43:13be safe.
43:15Thank you,
43:16driver.
