00:00:00Oh, what a goal!
00:00:02Oh, look at that!
00:00:03Absolutely phenomenal!
00:00:05Rooney O'Hall!
00:00:07Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:55Chelsea's misery is well and truly complete.
00:00:59That fall numb.
00:01:00That was unacceptable.
00:01:01It's as simple as that.
00:01:03Liam Rossini has been sacked by Chelsea after just over three months in charge.
00:01:07Defeat at Brighton on Tuesday night plus the final straw.
00:01:10Two teams who have found form at just the right time of the year.
00:01:15What a way to save a point!
00:01:18An absolute cracker.
00:01:20Here are the vitality.
00:01:22A key rendezvous in the Premier League season.
00:01:27Burnley are relegated but the title race takes another twist.
00:01:31Manchester City are ahead of Arsenal.
00:01:36Evening.
00:01:36So much still on the line as we get to the business end of the Premier League season.
00:01:41Steph Horton and Martin Keown are with us.
00:01:44So, with goals scored separating the top two and Manchester City in today's FA Cup semi-final,
00:01:50Arsenal had the chance to go back above Pep Guardiola's side.
00:01:54Guy Mowbray was at the Emirates.
00:01:58Nine days ago, the football world was stunned to learn of the death of Alex Manninger, aged just 48,
00:02:04with the news felt most keenly in this country, here at Arsenal.
00:02:09The Austrian goalkeeper played 64 games for the Gunners over four seasons
00:02:12and was a League and Cup double winner in 1998.
00:02:20On this weekend especially, it's worth noting that the Premier League is a marathon, not a sprint,
00:02:26until you're near the end.
00:02:27And in the next two games, Arsenal have the chance to kick on
00:02:30and once again create some distance from their only race rival.
00:02:34They start today with a team showing one change from last week's defeat at Manchester City,
00:02:39with Ben White recalled at right back in place of Christian Mosquera.
00:02:43And big news on the bench, with Bakayo Saka back in the squad after five games out injured.
00:02:48For Newcastle, and right now struggling Newcastle, five differences from last week at home to Bournemouth,
00:02:54a fourth defeat in a row.
00:02:56The main headlines are Bruno Gimaraes starting for the first time since the 10th of February,
00:03:00and Nick Pope regains his place in goal from Aaron Ramsdale.
00:03:08Arsenal kick off a Premier League game off the top for the first time since the start of October.
00:03:15We've got the chance today to immediately return to the summit,
00:03:18and it's a chance that you would think they simply have to take.
00:03:24And it is Newcastle who are getting into forward gear first and earliest,
00:03:28only for Willos Sula to miss his kick completely.
00:03:32That was a chance.
00:03:34Sula seemed to be struggling to properly find his stride as he looked to get his composure right for the
00:03:40finish.
00:03:41He never did.
00:03:45Here's Zubi Mendy.
00:03:47He's been dispossessed there, and here's Tonali.
00:03:50Tonali to Bruno Gimaraes. Bruno's got a chance here.
00:03:53If anything, he's hit it too hard.
00:03:58Newcastle are battling.
00:03:59They have made the brightest start to this evening's game.
00:04:03Showing that they've got some scrap left in them after what was threatening and what is still threatening to be.
00:04:09Another dismal end to a season that promised so much.
00:04:12There's Madweke, that's a good ball in.
00:04:15In the corner for Arsenal.
00:04:17Spells danger for Newcastle.
00:04:20Noni Madweke to deliver.
00:04:23To Martin Odegaard, who makes himself available short.
00:04:28Odegaard to Eze, it might work.
00:04:30Eze, not bad.
00:04:31Not bad, but not close enough.
00:04:33Not as close as his wonderful curling effort at the Etihad last week,
00:04:37which struck the inside of a post.
00:04:39But it's a sight-up for Eber Eze.
00:04:444-4 Madweke.
00:04:48Madweke is going to get onto that ahead of Dortmund.
00:04:52Super recovery challenge from Malik Chao.
00:04:55Puts it behind for another Arsenal corner.
00:04:57They keep on coming now.
00:04:59The sacrifice again, if needed.
00:05:06Something different from Arsenal.
00:05:08Havertz.
00:05:09Eze!
00:05:10Brilliant!
00:05:14What a strike that is!
00:05:16Well, there we go.
00:05:17That first one was a sight-up.
00:05:20What a routine.
00:05:22Drag Newcastle all over the place.
00:05:25Odegaard with the late run.
00:05:27Newcastle thought the same thing was happening again.
00:05:29But look at Havertz.
00:05:30Who kept his cool to tee up Eze.
00:05:33Still a lot to do.
00:05:35An awful lot to do.
00:05:37But that's how to do it.
00:05:39That will settle any Arsenal nerves that might have lingered from six days ago in Manchester.
00:05:45Arsenal 1, Newcastle 0.
00:05:48Last things stand.
00:05:49Arsenal have gone three points back above Manchester City with a one better goal difference.
00:05:54Michael Arteta once won the title in Scotland as a player with Rangers in 2003.
00:06:00On goal difference.
00:06:01A 6-1 win on the final day against Dunfermline.
00:06:04And it was Arteta who scored the late late penalty.
00:06:08The one goal that made the difference.
00:06:12Willock against Saliba.
00:06:14Newcastle corner.
00:06:21He's making his presence felt more or less on the goal line.
00:06:24Raya won't go for that one.
00:06:26It wouldn't fall for a Newcastle player.
00:06:28Ramsey hooks it back in.
00:06:31To Rice.
00:06:33To Nali.
00:06:34To Nali from distance.
00:06:36Nearly caught Raya out.
00:06:38Brilliant reactions from the Arsenal goalkeeper.
00:06:41It's the speed of the movement of the feet that's most impressive there.
00:06:45Good save, big save.
00:06:47Kai Havertz is needing some treatment.
00:06:51What a horrible time of it in general Kai Havertz has had this season.
00:06:55Out from August to December with a knee injury.
00:06:57Only really just starting to get back in as a regular and find some sort of rhythm.
00:07:03But I think his day's done.
00:07:09So Newcastle just battling Arsenal there.
00:07:12They're battling history.
00:07:13Only one win in their last 21 Premier League games away to the Gunners.
00:07:18And that was back in 2010.
00:07:20No win in their last 13.
00:07:22Taking only a point and scoring only one goal.
00:07:25And an Arsenal problem again.
00:07:27Everett Giezer.
00:07:28Looks as though it might be more serious than Eze's initial expression suggests.
00:07:33And Thomas Tuchel's worried.
00:07:35There's a player he wouldn't want to miss out on in the summer.
00:07:42Bruno Guimaraes.
00:07:43Wisser.
00:07:45Maybe a pass too many and it's Arsenal's turn to get forward.
00:07:48Jocheres will be confronted by Pope.
00:07:50And Pope's missed it.
00:07:52And he's bumped into Jocheres as well.
00:07:55It's going to be at least yellow for Nick Pope.
00:07:59Has he denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity?
00:08:03Maybe not.
00:08:04Not that wide.
00:08:05But he definitely, undoubtedly, without question, impeded Jocheres.
00:08:12Oh dear.
00:08:13And the arm going up, well you can see how deliberate it was.
00:08:16There's an argument to be made for sure.
00:08:20I think the check's over.
00:08:22It'll stay yellow for Nick Pope.
00:08:25He spent the build up to the game, watching his old club York City clinch promotion back to the Football
00:08:28League.
00:08:29In very dramatic circumstances.
00:08:32Just involved in a bit of drama of his own.
00:08:34One!
00:08:36One!
00:08:37One!
00:08:39One!
00:08:40One!
00:08:40One!
00:08:41One!
00:08:41One!
00:08:41One!
00:08:42One!
00:08:43One!
00:08:48One!
00:08:49absolutely won't get better than that for newcastle today the two subs bought to score goals but
00:08:55haven't got nearly enough of them should have combined a score one there no blame attached of
00:09:01ultimada but wissa really must do better a huge let off for those arsenal fans and that arsenal
00:09:08boss if they do draw themselves level goodness the mood here will sink it will plummet
00:09:18arsenal fans are doing the very best that they can to keep their team on top but here's harvey
00:09:23barnes and dan burns up there the header is straight at raya
00:09:29the warning bells are ringing out loud for arsenal
00:09:39he's got a whole lifetime of this ahead of him take it from me today it gets worse
00:09:48second
00:09:54murder guard top gets down to palmit behind
00:10:02i don't think i've heard many more elongated cries of shoot from a crowd
00:10:07murder guard was never going to do anything different and it was going in
00:10:14the agony of being an arsenal fan right now before the ecstasy that will grip the final whistle
00:10:22and that is it and that's what it means arsenal started the game off the top for the first time
00:10:32since the start of october the end the evening back on top of the table arsenal one newcastle united nil
00:10:42so what's the last week been like from the start it looked as though no damage done absolutely no
00:10:46damage done to mentality it was a huge reset it was so clear and i sense the energy in the
00:10:51dressing room
00:10:52in manchester already after the game that something clicked something changed that they were even more
00:10:56convinced and it's all good game one uh we had it in front of us in our hands we've done
00:11:02it we have
00:11:02done what we had to do and then yeah we had openings to to kill the game um in my
00:11:07opinion again it's a
00:11:09red card it's as simple as that the ball is closer to the striker and there is nobody on the
00:11:14goal but
00:11:15no surprise because uh i guess manchester city a week ago kajabert goes through cousin of steps in
00:11:20he makes a foul one one is a red card and it doesn't show so hopefully that needs to change
00:11:26today
00:11:28i think will be i hope uh turning of the corner for us in terms of a shoot upwards because
00:11:33i think
00:11:34we're close to getting results um easy to say uh of course now we need to deliver we got to
00:11:39this point
00:11:39for a reason you know we know how to deal with it um that's why we play the game that's
00:11:42why we're the
00:11:43professionals um you know there's always going to be noise from from home fans away fans people
00:11:49outside it's just about blocking it out staying focused and um believing in um what we can do and
00:11:54that's just winning football matches so we'll continue to do that we'll add to that noise in
00:11:59a little while when we come on to the title but as far as the game itself is concerned look
00:12:03back to
00:12:04the old set pieces discussion but these were slightly different and newcastle didn't react yeah i think we
00:12:10all know how dominant arsenal are on set pieces 17 goals scored already but previously only took six short
00:12:16corners and that was the difference today that got them the winning goal and i think for me it was
00:12:20so
00:12:20interesting chappers in terms of newcastle's set up 11 players in the box physical profiles they're
00:12:26very strong on set pieces but arsenal test them with a short corner with odegaard havert white and
00:12:32eze doesn't really come off this one but eze is free on the edge of the box a little bit
00:12:36of a warning
00:12:37side for newcastle still the same setup odegaard makes the same run white and havert occupy the same
00:12:43spaces but it gives ben botman a real real problem of who to go to the ball goes to havert
00:12:48he can't
00:12:49get there in time and you've got eze who's so prolific on the edge of the box and from this
00:12:54angle this is a brilliant finish i think he's scored the most goals outside the box since 2022 and
00:12:59you can just see his quality and i think newcastle were very slow to react but that's a really well
00:13:03worked corner from arsenal's point of view is that is that this is how we've been told to defend at
00:13:08corners we're not we're not going to react to what we're seeing a little bit because there
00:13:12was a couple of warnings we didn't show all of them and and eze is sitting on the edge of
00:13:16the box
00:13:16and went and this is quite a prolific player by the way to give him that time and space and
00:13:21there
00:13:21was two deliveries before um he's handling the expectation of being at that big club perfectly
00:13:28beautifully he's loving the moment and his quality his technique and execution there was first
00:13:35class in a difficult moment for arsenal he he went off and havertz went off both muscle injuries that
00:13:41are going to be reassessed is is what we were told they looked okay post-match the positive is that
00:13:47they
00:13:48had saka back look they haven't had that much consistency amongst their front four even in
00:13:52their midfield three sometimes but if they get saka and odegaard back that's a key for you saka is
00:13:58really really important and there's been lots of changes in that front four lots of changes in the
00:14:02ten the right-hand side of the pitch has disappeared to an extent but saka coming back is good news
00:14:07for
00:14:07the team madewaki he's at a good level but this guy i think is at another level he's been injured
00:14:13for
00:14:13large periods straightaways on the pitch i think odegaard martinelli they they switched on to him he
00:14:18comes inside first action he's got an end product he's testing the goalkeeper set piece again look that
00:14:25they want to find him in the pockets and then odegaard is joining in as well suddenly his radar's there
00:14:32there's another corner and they connect really well and i think it's difficult when you keep making
00:14:36these changes enforced but there's odegaard now look joining his mate joining the party in that
00:14:42little pocket and he's merely scoring from there so saka great news that he's back it's unfortunate
00:14:48you lose two players habits looks like he's going to be out maybe as is not as bad i mean
00:14:53that last
00:14:54one is the standard arsenal move that isn't it saka that's been the signature isn't it so many years
00:14:58down that right hand side uh no timber of course no califuri on the left hand side but you need
00:15:04to
00:15:04get these players back do you the most important thing is to win and i feel like i asked exactly
00:15:09the same questions after manchester city won one nil at burnley on on wednesday just win but we're now
00:15:15in this situation where goal difference goal scored could play a part yeah the main thing is to win and
00:15:21get points but you look at the likes of man city against burnley could they added more goals could
00:15:25them maybe apply a little bit more pressure but arsenal have done their job today they've got
00:15:28three points ahead potential of six points ahead before city play everton on bank holiday monday so
00:15:34this title race is going to go down to the wire let's look at let's look at those fishes because
00:15:38maybe that is the most important thing at the moment city made the cup final today so that means that
00:15:43bournemouth game will wait for a date for as well palace has to be rearranged but what we do know
00:15:48is
00:15:48arsenal play again before city play that six point gap if they beat fulham they've got to make that count
00:15:54now that's about that's the psychological advantage again well it has to be and it's this is like this
00:15:59pressure is not exclusive to arsenal it'll be on these man city players obviously it's a wonderful
00:16:04finish for them arsenal got champions league games in among that so that's why i'm saying the squad has
00:16:08to be beefed up it has to people have to be ready but i think today was a really the
00:16:13one cut final out
00:16:14the way and a way to recovery from an arsenal point of view do you think they looked more i
00:16:18mean
00:16:19arteta said he saw in the dressing room straight after manchester city do you think they looked
00:16:23a bit more relaxed today not necessarily the crowd i wasn't discouraged i was encouraged by
00:16:28the man city performance i think they took that into this game there's still a nervousness there
00:16:32but when they go forward and pass the ball forward you know when you go back it's when the crowd
00:16:38get
00:16:38on their back a little bit so play forward as much as you can there was a nervousness in the
00:16:42office
00:16:42from someone i was going to say it was this afternoon to be honest we got there in the end
00:16:45though we got there in the end we're not all together to the bottom now we'll show you nottingham
00:16:51forest thrashing sunderland last night a little bit later on west ham and tottenham both played at
00:16:56three o'clock today so we'll start with everton's visit to the london stadium commentary comes from
00:17:02simon brotherton forest's five star showing at sundland seemingly leaves west ham in a two horse
00:17:09race with tottenham to stay up five to go and everything to play for which is also the case
00:17:14for everton who have genuine european ambitions west hammer unchanged tatty castellanos scored twice
00:17:21in the last home match a four nil win over wolves jared bowen scored both the last time they beat
00:17:26everton at home three years ago and captains the team today a hamstring injury sidelines jared
00:17:32brathwaite and concussion forces beto to the sidelines for everton michael keane returns at the back and
00:17:39tieno barry leads the attack big match for both teams this one both at the bottom for west ham and
00:17:47further up the table for everton who are in a tightly packed group of teams chasing european football for
00:17:54next season somerville with that trademark burst of pace is away from idris a gay he's challenged by
00:18:01james garner and it was right under steward atwell's nose somerville was away and garner came across
00:18:08and west ham have a free kick in a reasonable attacking position is this going to be a first
00:18:14test for pickford as just sent it across and the header just loops over the top of the crossbar from
00:18:21tomas socek who's always a threat in the air from set plays got up well but on this occasion not
00:18:27close
00:18:27to adding to the five goals that he scored this season
00:18:33and fernandez was caught napping and away comes dewsbury hall he's got mcneill to his left barry to his
00:18:40right dwight mcneill with the chance to send it over to tiemma barry
00:18:47an untidy end to a promising attack
00:18:51with the cross coming over just behind him tiemma barry had to go for the spectacular
00:18:58david sullivan watching on as ever but uh no karen brady of course today for the first time in a
00:19:05long
00:19:05time baroness brady stepping down this week after 16 years
00:19:11well won back by james garner here's tiano barry brings the save from her munson
00:19:20i think it really had the pace to seriously trouble the west ham goalkeeper
00:19:27is there one last first half opportunity here for west ham in the closing seconds before the break
00:19:34somerville tries to bring the game to life finding his captain bowen who whips it across
00:19:40and somerville can't get on the end of it suddenly a flurry from west ham
00:19:47somerville initially look at the space there afforded to bowen the pass out of reach for for somerville
00:20:02somerville tracked by jake o'brien nicely done here's a chance castellanos can't finish it all
00:20:10pickford makes the save castellanos goes down and gets an earful from the everton goalkeeper
00:20:15in the process and as castellanos goes for goal the save is made by jordan pickford
00:20:24it will be reviewed as to whether it should be a penalty kick or not
00:20:28it's not going to be a penalty they are confirming the on-field decision of play on
00:20:34pretty congested there in front of the everton goalkeeper
00:20:39and it's in and west ham have the lead thomas subject at the near post an eruption of joy
00:20:49for those in claret and blue
00:20:55well west ham needed that
00:20:59in a match of hardly any chances at all so far early in the second half it's a big big
00:21:07goal from the
00:21:08check so check at the near post just getting the flick ahead of the defender past pickford
00:21:23to sassy under pressure from barry
00:21:27a little bit of confusion there at the back
00:21:31and de sassy look to have that under control
00:21:36and west ham now with some defending to do
00:21:40and it comes from jewsbury hall never away by maverick panos
00:21:45tim eric boon and collecting
00:21:49just again into eric boon and once more here's an opportunity and it's cleared away
00:21:55great work on the goal line initially by thomas socheck the goal scorer at the other end and dis sassy
00:22:01clears it for west ham well it looked for a moment there as though everton were about to equalize
00:22:07encouragement for them 15 minutes to go nerves might start jangling a little bit for west ham
00:22:14as the the minutes tick by good challenge by jeff corner
00:22:24but and unsurprisingly keen to get on with it garner going short jewsbury hall back out to eric boonham
00:22:33this is george nicely flighted but jeno barry how did that not end up in the back of the net
00:22:39still an opportunity eric boonham's effort blocked by axel de sassy
00:22:44as the cross came over and again it was socheck on the line to preserve west ham's lead
00:22:53nicolinko sending it over and jeff i think just was
00:22:56making doubly sure there i think he was aware that iliman ajai wasn't too far away
00:23:10barry held up by fernandez they're all appealing for a handball
00:23:15which inevitably will be checked and double checked
00:23:19matthias fernandez pleading his innocence there let's have a look at this
00:23:26oh he did touch his hand but it has not been given as a penalty the video assistant referee
00:23:33michael salisbury said it's a grappling motion with the attacker and a total accident even though
00:23:39it is a handball so it will not be given as a penalty and west ham have dodged one there
00:23:47the rest time haven't conceded a goal for almost three matches now
00:23:51got a few more minutes to survive in this one tyric george keeping walker peters busy
00:24:03the header down and dewsbury hall equalizes and just a minute or two
00:24:10after being denied a penalty that they thought they should have had
00:24:14everton are on level terms bit of disappointment late on for west ham united
00:24:21but everton level it up west ham were looking good at one nil and now it's back to square one
00:24:34walker peters looking for the run of bowen west ham looking for a sprinkling of something special late
00:24:41on here but michael keane is there to deny them back out to walker peters
00:24:47here's juif needs to be a good delivery it's a pretty good one it's a great chance and
00:24:53calum wilson's done it he's scored against everton yet again it's his speciality
00:25:01in added time and the mood changes and the bubbles are in the sky again for west ham
00:25:10just when it looked as though everton had snagged a point west ham come roaring back
00:25:17and calum wilson has now scored eight goals in his last nine league appearances
00:25:24against everton juif's delivery the header down and wilson a striker of quality and experience
00:25:34kept his head and guided it home and how big might that goal prove to be
00:25:42that's a very big three points indeed for nuno espirito santo and west ham united and it has come
00:25:50courtesy of a late winner from calum wilson dramatic afternoon in the sunshine it's finished west ham
00:25:58united two everton one we knew how it was going to be tough um till the end but important that
00:26:06we
00:26:06keep believing the boys keep keep fighting till the last minute i think it's something that we
00:26:10already have in our character and that's really positive for us a big moment towards the end at
00:26:16one nil a handball which didn't lead to a penalty kick i think the var are saying grappling well the
00:26:24center forward wasn't grappling it was the boy marking him was grappling also put his his two hands
00:26:29around him and he put his hand towards the ball he didn't it wasn't as if his hand was there
00:26:33and the
00:26:33ball came up and hit it he reacted and he punched the ball so i'm i'm amazed that they've not
00:26:38they've not
00:26:39given a penalty kick for it it's a fantastic fan base i knew that when i joined the club and
00:26:42our home games are going to be really important and we're going to need them every match um to be
00:26:47the 12th man and there was that today especially when we went one one so late on they were getting
00:26:52behind us they were cheering to try and get us going again and then like i say it was nice
00:26:56to reward them
00:26:57with a goal because they've been through some tough times and hopefully better times ahead with uh with
00:27:01staying up this season first and foremost there's a real resilience about them at the moment isn't
00:27:07there and and that has hasn't been well certainly wasn't there for the first half no i was there on
00:27:13the 6th of january when forest beat them 2-1 and they were seven points behind and i thought they
00:27:17were
00:27:18gone and there was it was fractious to say to say the least the atmosphere now it's a complete change
00:27:25the the the work rate of the team the performance the atmosphere in the stadium uh the desire from
00:27:31the players i mean i think de sassi i mean maverick partners has done well as well but de sassi
00:27:35is in that bomb squad at chelsea and this is a west ham fan on the pitch this is early
00:27:41on
00:27:41he's saying to barry i'm in charge here look at the response from the fans sucek another one another
00:27:46giant of a man gets to it first really important role that he plays in the club and it's you
00:27:52see it
00:27:52time and time again look at this authority in the way that you play look get away that's my ball
00:27:57and then the way that he responds afterwards it's like come on you know give me more of this
00:28:02and sucek i mean some of the defending as well they're pretty put it on the like every one of
00:28:06them
00:28:07jufe the whole lot look at sucek again then de sassi getting rid of it and then they're spinning to
00:28:12one another the whole time come on let's do it they're giving everything on that pitch i i love it
00:28:17i love watching it um how did that stay out it's it's inspired defending and you just keep doing it
00:28:24throughout and you can see them pulling it off now i never thought they would uh but it's all come
00:28:29from
00:28:29the manager and credible transfer unity in that stadium it's they go away the west ham fans now
00:28:34feeling they've got hope jared bowen there say it's a step in the right direction and if you have
00:28:40a goal scorer and callum wilson is a goal scorer you might not be able to do a full 90
00:28:45minutes as much
00:28:45anymore but you have a chance don't you yeah definitely i think uh callum wilson very experienced
00:28:51striker coming off the bench you want your subs to have impacts and he certainly does that and it's
00:28:56such an important game and i think for me it's about strikers knowing where to be and at this time
00:29:01he's in the right position the ball isn't the greatest ball it gets cleared but i think as a
00:29:05striker it's about what's next where can i be how can i read the flight of the ball and he
00:29:09is a perfect
00:29:10example of never ever standing still and from this angle you notice how he kind of gambled
00:29:15goals and also the instincts of a striker is just to hit it into the ground and get it in
00:29:20there
00:29:20carl walker peters does an amazing job to get out of the way but for calum wilson he loves scoring
00:29:25against everton and how important that goal can be for west ham um david moore said he was surprised
00:29:32that this wasn't given as a penalty the fernandez handball are you surprised that it wasn't even looked
00:29:37at the two of you i think that's the biggest thing that we thought was that there wasn't really a
00:29:41check
00:29:42from vr i personally think it's a penalty i think we've seen some of them being given you assume
00:29:46they're checking everything though chappers don't you really well they are doing aren't they i mean
00:29:50they have to be i mean it's not like he went out for a cup of coffee and missed it
00:29:53they are checking
00:29:54it i think he's lucky to get away with that because he's grappling with his opponent he's got his arms
00:29:58around him and if his hand does hit the ball you're taking risk being that tight to the player anyway
00:30:03so
00:30:03but i think their movement towards the ball probably i understand why david moyes is upset because i
00:30:08think referee's got a good view of it though it seems at the moment via doesn't really want it
00:30:12to fear with the referee's decision but and david moyes is i suppose right that the hand whether he
00:30:17knew it was he was doing that or not i suppose it's a flick action from the from the hand
00:30:22so you
00:30:23know you have to consider yourself to be lucky to get away with it let's just go go back to
00:30:26your point
00:30:26about when you saw them against forest and and they lost and that came off the back actually of them
00:30:31being thrashed at wolves as well when alan shearer sat where steph was and said he thought they were they
00:30:36were
00:30:36down the the form i mean that's where they are they're only behind the two manchester clubs
00:30:42arsenal liverpool and bournemouth for the points gained since they came back after those two defeats
00:30:47yeah i mean martin mentioned a lot of it the resilience the wanting to win and i think you've
00:30:52seen a real turn in west ham and i think for me i think the game plan is simple and
00:30:56players are really
00:30:57applying themselves you look at somerville he's been really productive jared born and when it's mattered
00:31:01then players have really stood up but also from a defensive point of view they do get you the points
00:31:06in west ham and really really good form at this moment in time but on to spurs's trip now to
00:31:12already relegated wolves steve bauer was at mollingham
00:31:19it's 118 days since spurs last won a premier league game never has must win been more of an
00:31:26understatement in terms of preserving their top flight status wolves know their eight-year stay is
00:31:32definitely coming to an end and rob edwards makes five changes today as doherty returns against his
00:31:38former club there are opportunities for mane lima and rodrigo gomez jose sa is back in goal
00:31:45just the one in force change for spurs as jed spence replaces the injured udogi javi simons has three goals
00:31:54in his last two starts
00:32:01and away by totti for walls
00:32:06danzo is always going to be down strong in the air and that is a spurs free kick for the
00:32:11foul on gallagher
00:32:13and that was cheryl gomez the offender
00:32:19just caught gallagher in the face
00:32:26pedro poro to deliver this free header for danzo and all across the face solanke tried his best
00:32:33to get on the end of it it was appealing that he was uh pushed in the back i don't
00:32:39think he was
00:32:40danzo was totally unmarked as he headed that back across
00:32:45there's a little bit of concern here about dominic solanke he's holding his left hamstring
00:32:55so that's a blow but their top scorer is ready richarlison
00:33:02he is on in his place
00:33:10the finger nails have gone early and unfortunately with five games to go
00:33:15now in that territory
00:33:22so
00:33:27to simons is this a bit of positivity
00:33:33it was deflected over for a corner
00:33:35i don't know what anthony taylor's actually changed his mind
00:33:42there wasn't a touch
00:33:46kinski's keen to try and set simons away
00:33:56and it's excellent defending you have to say from hugo bueno
00:34:15and that's a worrying sight for xavi simons
00:34:24and paulina is coming on for
00:34:27the sumer
00:34:34that's in towards richarlison
00:34:36santiago bueno with the header
00:34:37bergfell pick the pocket of xiao gomez though
00:34:42and santiago bueno
00:34:45with a huge clearance upfield danzo's got to see armstrong coming here
00:34:50brilliant from kinski but mané's onto it
00:34:54benton core knows what's coming next but spurs will take a yellow card out of that because it could have
00:35:00been a lot worse
00:35:04watch kevin danzo here sluggish took his eye off the ball he couldn't see armstrong coming
00:35:10but kinski thankfully did in the tottenham goal and benton core then did what he needed to do
00:35:21tell he's got power away to his right again if he needs him matthias tell
00:35:25and that's deflected off santiago bueno and that's a tottenham corner threw himself at that
00:35:33the uruguayan
00:35:37plenty of options here for the spaniard in from porra
00:35:42next one of the brilliant save from sar benton core's powerful header
00:35:51flag is up afterwards
00:35:57and benton core got plenty of power behind that who can cut the tension with a knife
00:36:08now porra spurs need bodies in the box richarlison
00:36:15still alive with spence
00:36:22spence once more now side flags now
00:36:25i don't know whether doherty got a touch and that just deceived richarlison
00:36:32just brushes off his head and that was enough
00:36:37tell
00:36:39ugo bueno will see this out or will he tells them well
00:36:44and he's round bueno and he's got tottenham a corner
00:36:49off totti
00:36:53what can spurs produce from this
00:36:59paro's delivering
00:37:01well where's the second ball going richarlison is steered in
00:37:06by paulina
00:37:12the substitute
00:37:15with what could be an enormous goal for spurs
00:37:22his six for the club and there will not be a more important one to date
00:37:30tottenham just seem to react quicker to the second ball the pope from richarlison
00:37:34and the stretch from paulina
00:37:39and who knows just how important and critical that goal could be
00:37:49a raccadar is flick
00:37:52mana
00:37:54foul by danzo yellow card for the austrian
00:37:58and in the 97th minute Wolves will have a free kick
00:38:04all of the Tottenham away end go silent and nervous
00:38:10because this will be the last action of the game
00:38:15and he will hope for the second weekend running it isn't decisive action
00:38:21here it comes, oh it's a brilliant save
00:38:26he's had nothing to do but one save all day Anton Kinski
00:38:34and he pulled one out there because that was going in
00:38:39here comes the corner Spurs defended and there's the full-time whistle
00:38:45and for the first time since the 28th of December
00:38:49Tottenham Hotspur have won a Premier League game
00:38:53and it could be absolutely critical
00:38:57we didn't play well but today was very important three points
00:39:05for the head no for the mentality is important this game
00:39:09because when you don't win a game for a long time
00:39:13like us he become a problem
00:39:17coming up against a Tottenham team at the moment now
00:39:20obviously fighting for their lives so their motivation is going to be incredibly high
00:39:23new manager he's got loads of intensity so and we match that
00:39:28we more than match that second half we look stronger we were pushing
00:39:32and yeah got done with the goal so it's a difficult one to take but
00:39:36we have to dust ourselves down and we have to be able to go again
00:39:38my goal it has the same importance that that the Kinski safe at the last minute you know for me
00:39:46it's the
00:39:47the same of course we have responsibility in the position that we are and for sure it's not the
00:39:52the position that the Tottenham belong in any way and and yeah we just have four finals until the end
00:40:00of the season
00:40:02uh and we will do it everything that we can
00:40:04uh we'll look at the Kinski save in just a moment but we have a Spurs fan as part of
00:40:09the analysis team
00:40:10and he's smiling for the first time in 2026 and he gave you about 112 clips to look at
00:40:16yeah we would have been here till tomorrow but yeah first win in 15 matches for Spurs and i think
00:40:23you can see that deserve he is putting his stamp on this team i think in terms of a structure
00:40:29in terms of the team cohesion even simple movements like running off the ball from
00:40:33Porro and that connection on the right hand side that was a lot more evident today even this instances
00:40:39here i think if this wasn't four five six games ago this ball would have probably went back to
00:40:44the keeper and went forward but that composure just to get on the ball under pressure and kind
00:40:48of relieve the pressure and find that spare play which was siemens for a lot of today for Spurs
00:40:53i think for me one thing that Spurs need to really improve on is that final pass when they get
00:40:58to the
00:40:58final third what do they do and i think this boy here Mateus Tell i think he could have potentially
00:41:03started ahead of Mwani i think he was more impactful he was more aggressive he liked to run forward and
00:41:08i think simple things like deserve he likes to switch the ball can Spurs do it quickly against a
00:41:13Wolves side that's been relegated you've still got to do it and Siemens was at the heart of that
00:41:18great block by Dougherty and in this instance here Spurs were so aggressive they were closer they were
00:41:23more connected and this ball from Gallagher to Richarlison can you compose yourself don't make rash
00:41:28decisions and that's something if Spurs are going to stay up they need to improve on is that decision
00:41:32making and Tell really mixed up his game he really caused Wolves defenders a lot of problems and he never
00:41:38ever gave up and that's something that we haven't seen from Spurs for a while he really creates
00:41:43carnage and it creates a corner which is going to lead to the goal and when you need someone
00:41:48planer having that little bit of impact on the bench and getting that all-important first three
00:41:53points for deserve you can see he's so happy but you can see that the Spurs team are really improving
00:41:58under him i suppose if you're a bit grumpy and miserable you could say well
00:42:04are they only signs and it signs against an already relegated side but then if you're a bit more
00:42:09positive you you would say well they've got to start somewhere yeah you have to start somewhere
00:42:14and i think if you're a fan of Spurs you can see they're a lot more organized never gave away
00:42:18too
00:42:19many chances and you've got a team that's a little bit more settled is it too late we don't know
00:42:23yet
00:42:24but i think it gives them a real big steer in the next four games it's going to be tough
00:42:28but they've got
00:42:28to try and win as many as they can and you'd have to have a heart of stone wouldn't you
00:42:32or support
00:42:33forest west ham or leeds not to be pleased for kinski oh yeah without doubt because it's late
00:42:39in the game and pollinio said it's just as important as the goal they score so i mean it's a
00:42:44fantastic
00:42:45save and you think what he went through in the atletico madrid team manager puts him in deserve
00:42:50he's giving him an opportunity and that's what you keep us there for you know he's quite brave there
00:42:54gets it out and he's growing in confidence and they're going to need him that's for sure between
00:42:58now and the end of the season if people's opinions change on the title race from game to game they're
00:43:04surely going to be doing the same here on the relegation battle let's show you the table first
00:43:10of all and then we'll look at the remaining fixtures because forest and we'll show you their goals later
00:43:16would have thought last night amazing what what a signal we've sent out well now west ham and spurs have
00:43:21done the same yeah they've both reacted which i think when you get them three points on the board it's
00:43:25up to the rest of the teams and west ham and tottenham have done that but yeah chappers these
00:43:30four teams i think for me personally i do feel that leads and forest are out of the equation but
00:43:36you can
00:43:36never say what's going to happen with west ham and spurs when they're winning multiple games forest won
00:43:41three of the last four it's a shootout and spurs now are just joining the party it might be too
00:43:47late
00:43:47for spurs but that leads game looks huge doesn't it on the length of may but the next game is
00:43:53the one
00:43:53you're thinking about you that because that sets you up for the one after that you you've really
00:43:57got to get three points are you saying that you think that sort of leads and forest and west ham
00:44:03have maybe hit their run sooner and that might leave spurs too much to do well to win two games
00:44:09uh
00:44:10leads to go to bournemouth and get something there i mean that's that's like a win so you know that
00:44:16you're
00:44:16looking at all these games but it's how you deal with it in the moment spurs though this will give
00:44:20them a bit of energy and let's see because and they need some players to come back from injury
00:44:23it's been a nightmare for spurs that feels like the first positive for spurs a while the the other
00:44:28three we've had more positives about in the last two or three weeks yeah definitely i think there was
00:44:33no way that spurs were not going to win this game of course they left it a little bit late
00:44:37but i think
00:44:37for me for this running for spurs they have to have solanke and simon's available if they can get
00:44:42them fit it gives them the better chance to stand up uh right you can watch highlights of the fa
00:44:47cup

00:45:54and now crystal palace have beaten liverpool in the community shield the league cup and the
00:45:58premier league already this season ahead of the sides meeting at anfield mark scott at this one
00:46:05a perfect record against the reds this season and palaces four wins here across the last 11 seasons
00:46:12is the most premier league victories at anfield of any away team in that time as well having made his
00:46:19league debut for liverpool from the bench at everton former palace academy player freddie woodman starts
00:46:25today mac alistair for gravenberg is their other change palace have adam warton back from injury while
00:46:32kamada meteta and sar who've all given a breather against west ham come in too sar really loves playing
00:46:39liverpool he scored five goals in his last four games against them
00:46:49walton under pressure oh magic from walton well won back by jones
00:46:56brennan johnson's down here for palace
00:47:01a free kicks awarded here for a careless use of the arm from curtis jones
00:47:09wharton short to johnson
00:47:11now floated in richards up there mac alistair half away
00:47:15munoz not what he intended vietz now
00:47:22slightly behind salo but he might still make it work
00:47:27and that's a penalty
00:47:31well brennan johnson saying that they need to have a closer look at this
00:47:35but then again any player that's been penalized would say that salah here darting forwards
00:47:43there's a touch from brennan johnson which is why this is going to be overturned i think
00:47:49no penalty and on the slot who feels that they've been on the wrong side of a number of
00:47:54var calls this season might well add that to his notebook
00:48:01canate
00:48:04mac alistair early pass for salah
00:48:07you can't speed away from cambo now and salah still going looking for isaac
00:48:15mac alistair and isaac it's in alexander isaac gives liverpool the lead
00:48:26his first goal since december for the recently returned alexander isaac
00:48:35not the sweetest of hits from the swede but it will feel very sweet for him to be back amongst
00:48:42the
00:48:43goals liverpool have just been starting to turn it up a bit and they now have their reward isaac with
00:48:51a
00:48:51terrific piece of control and then the hooked finish beyond henderson and in liverpool one palace nil
00:49:04jones has lost it mateta blocked by woodman and curtis jones immediately apologizing to his teammates for
00:49:12nearly giving palace a leveler
00:49:16mateta tight angle and woodman made himself big enough to block
00:49:21liverpool in front but they have been a bit sloppy at times five to go until the break
00:49:26palace corner sar was trying to get out of the way of that walton back in walton's gone over
00:49:33his commander that's a great ball mateta what a save from woodman
00:49:46and now it's robertson andy robertson
00:49:512-0
00:49:55liverpool are flying now after the flying block from freddie woodman initially kept palace at bay
00:50:04straight down the other end and straight into the net from robertson
00:50:11woodman reacted really well there and then liverpool sped forwards
00:50:17hits with the turn and pass jones then saw the run of the fullback and slipped him in perfectly
00:50:25and if you're talking about perfect that's certainly what the finish was from robertson
00:50:30on the run across henderson and just inside the post
00:50:36liverpool have upped it in the last 10 minutes or so
00:50:39and now have a buffer between themselves and palace
00:50:48mitchell speeding up there and keeping the ball in
00:50:53behind from canate
00:51:03palace corner as we go into four added minutes
00:51:07and headed off the post i think lacroix tries to send it back in and munoz over the top
00:51:17slapped away by woodman from just inside the post
00:51:21the boyhood palace fan having a good half against the eagles
00:51:28so boss light now it's salah
00:51:36mo salah
00:51:38so boss lies salad going over but andy madley says no foul
00:51:44well mo salah is down here and is holding his left hamstring
00:51:52that's where salah might have done the damage to himself you can see him hold his hamstring as
00:51:58soon as he went down
00:52:00well you never know how many more times mo salah will be turning out at anfield
00:52:06and it doesn't look too serious a hamstring injury but he's taking it all in just in case
00:52:13it doesn't look too serious a hamstring injury but he's taking it all in just in the middle of the
00:52:18gatpo skips away from wharton
00:52:21henderson should win that race
00:52:26stran larsen back here for pino
00:52:32oh stran larsen lets it run so great save woodman again
00:52:39and the ball's in and palace are back in the game well liverpool wanted the game stopped
00:52:48because of an injury to freddie woodman but palace continued and the deficit is halved
00:52:56well there's a disagreement on the touchline now between arna slott and oliver glasner
00:53:03ismail assar blocked by woodman who then is obviously stricken and stays down and daniel munoz
00:53:10clips it over him and into the net and you can understand why liverpool are fuming here
00:53:16well the check is complete the goal is going to stand that was a game that was
00:53:24meandering towards three points for liverpool but now the deficit's just one and there's a real
00:53:29edge to the game
00:53:34richards is so boss lie and there's no foul there wharton carries stran larsen looked offside
00:53:42and has hit the post and it's now flagged as offside
00:53:48well he'll be hoping that he was off otherwise that's a big miss and oliver glasner's on his knees
00:53:55liverpool would have been had he slotted that in and been onside but got a suspicion that he did make
00:54:01his
00:54:01run just a touch too early looks it to me doesn't he
00:54:16so boss light it's a handy pass it's chasing and ensuring cambo has to put it out
00:54:34oh good try that'll do it florian verts wraps it up for liverpool
00:54:42the german grabs his first goal since january as liverpool wrap up all three points
00:54:51gomez with the throw and it's really good hold-up play by alexis macalister with wharton all over him
00:54:59and this with the inch perfect strike liverpool three palace one three straight league wins
00:55:08sees liverpool strengthen their grip on a top five place
00:55:13the rule is clear if you get hit on your head reverts just have has to stop immediately on the
00:55:21other side
00:55:21just let's say play it for the future if the keeper makes a save and he always stays on the
00:55:28grass that
00:55:28means you never get the second shot because the referee has to stop and and he also could continue
00:55:34the game until the end maybe in that moment he felt a little bit of pain but i think it
00:55:38was not that
00:55:39we have to stop the game and especially danny munas didn't see it some players would maybe stop some
00:55:43players would score i don't blame him for for that as much as i blame or blame as much as
00:55:50i would
00:55:51wanted the referee to stop the game mo went off what's the early prognosis yeah what's the prognosis
00:55:56that's too early to say but uh we all know mo how hard uh um it is for him to
00:56:02leave the pitch
00:56:03uh if we're 6-0 up and i take him out two minutes before the end he's still like
00:56:07i could have scored two more so for mo to for mo to leave the pitch that tells you something
00:56:12but we
00:56:12have to wait and see how bad it is word about freddy as well started today some great saves
00:56:17thought he was outstanding thought he was so good um you know maybe people out with
00:56:22the changing room when they seen the team line and things maybe you know our third choice goalie
00:56:25maybe a bit inexperienced in the premier league but the lads the coaching staff everyone behind
00:56:29him you know had so much faith in him because we see him day in day out he's such a
00:56:33good goalkeeper
00:56:33credit goes to him we're just gutted that he can't keep the clean cheeks i think he's
00:56:36saves definitely deserved it and then but yeah um he's a fantastic goalkeeper well he may be the
00:56:41third choice goalkeeper but he had a good and eventful afternoon didn't he freddy woodman he
00:56:46really did and he played his part in liverpool's back-to-back wins anfield um i think for someone
00:56:51that's making their first premier league start he was really really impressive and especially against
00:56:56crystal palace because they throw all different sorts of problems you've got mateta that's coming
00:57:01back into a bit of form and without a doubt this is the save of the game and i think
00:57:05in terms of
00:57:06importance it leads to liverpool's goal i think being able to parry it out into an area and allowing
00:57:12liverpool to go and attack with the intensity and andy robertson how fitting it is to go and score
00:57:17at anfield after he's announced that he's leaving at the end of the season but this save here i think
00:57:22from six yards out to get a really good hand on it and allow players to and his mate alison
00:57:27becker is
00:57:27really happy with it as well but i think overall he was when he was needed and when he needs
00:57:32to be
00:57:32counted on he really did well and i think in terms of being 29 making your first premier league start
00:57:38you've got to be ready with all the training that you do and of course there's going to be questions
00:57:42about this um in terms of for me personally i think palace did the right thing in terms of what
00:57:47a great
00:57:47finish i think maybe van dyke and can i can react a little bit better don't stop until the whistle's
00:57:53gone but overall i do think he had a great performance has a big influence on this little
00:57:58pill win today and there's a really bright future ahead of them well i think we're mainly of the
00:58:03opinion with as gladstone said that he might not have seen that the goalkeeper was down is that are
00:58:08we or not i don't know but i think for me i'm saying that i've definitely tried to shoot there
00:58:13and
00:58:13and it's a great finish from munoz if i'm being honest i just liverpool were really slow to react
00:58:18but i think from a palace point of view um they got really dominated by liverpool today just quickly
00:58:23the one thing that probably shouldn't be lost there is that that i was alexander isak's first
00:58:27premier league goal at anfield for liverpool quite remarkable you know expensive goals
00:58:31there's only four this season 125 million but great pace about him he can have a good finish
00:58:36to the season and maybe a good world cup but it's been disappointing for him uh right unai emery has
00:58:42faced fulham eight times as a manager and won all eight his aston middle side headed to craven cottage
00:58:47looking to climb back up to third in the table jonathan jonathan pierce your commentator
00:58:54a ninth win in nine for unai emery against fulham will all but guarantee champions league football
00:58:59for aston villa who've won five of their last six but also have the europa league in midweek in mind
00:59:05fulham's lack of goals is threatening to unhinge their euro ambitions they failed to score in four of
00:59:10their last five league games as many as in their previous 25 and so bring back jimenez for muniz
00:59:16burger replaces kearney and gigwezi comes in for the injured iwobi who will be badly missed
00:59:21betlano starts his 146th consecutive premier league game only five players have ever had longer runs
00:59:27bonnie watkins has six goals in nine games against fulham he starts in the middle side showing four
00:59:33changes pao torres for mings dinia for matson voguard for the injured onana and guandia for barclay
00:59:43fulham all in white don't expect whiz bang from them from the start since the beginning of 2026 no
00:59:50team has scored fewer first half premier league goals than fulham they've only netted four
01:00:00that's he cuts that out roscoe's bow gone they can't get hold of it here he's that offside smith row
01:00:06made it back into the middle no muscle okay that's the villa cup open there
01:00:16he's played on isn't he emil smith row would have counted
01:00:31it's a big chance for him he would have been offside anyway
01:00:42cons up he's teamens the pressure on him again whips it long over the top looking for rogers watkins in
01:00:50the
01:00:51middle flag stays down for the minute rogers into the penalty area past one past two opens up a gap
01:00:57puts you white confident run by rogers in front of the watching thomas tukul
01:01:04the shot with the wrong side of the post not by much
01:01:11cash
01:01:13direct up to watkins anderson hands-on literally oh lovely turn barley watkins
01:01:20again it's not far off target
01:01:23aston villa beginning to fur fashions his chance himself with that uh
01:01:27joe bit wide will he be on the plane to the usa was understudy to harry k
01:01:33only he will know what's in his plans
01:01:39it's long for session you'll hit it first time blocked by torres and then the return
01:01:45i wouldn't account it anyway offside
01:01:48he's offside as the ball is pumped long he meant it
01:01:51and it came back into the middle the flag had already been raised so that wouldn't account it but
01:01:55lovely run by session
01:02:04he should ways in opens things out finds castaña
01:02:10rawson is on the touch line then's a lovely cross in splendid say
01:02:16and the rebound is rocketed in by sasino
01:02:19and fulham lee and the lovely save by martinez comes to nothing
01:02:29genuine quality on the cross
01:02:31did well to get in there to follow it up but it's all about the quality of the cross in
01:02:35the first
01:02:35place
01:02:36now stanja with the cross headed on in there by lukic
01:02:42really strong save but he could only parry it away to sasino
01:03:02and he could have played left to ral jimenez
01:03:07this is a big opportunity for fulham
01:03:11genius stumbles wilson's away
01:03:15and drag the shot wide well wide when fulham attack either burger or lukic or both drop back
01:03:22to supplement the defense and wilson has gone almost into a right wing back position because
01:03:27sani can come in narrower often when they don't have the ball they have a back five
01:03:31they're under pressure here now and that's a big chance ollie watkins
01:03:38the manager fumes who worked it well maybe rushed the shot got too far underneath it sliced it wide
01:03:48lots of time here for sanderberger to pick out emil smith rowe aston villa back peddling smith rowe
01:03:53nearly goes all the way and it's deflected away off torres i believe
01:03:58villa flagging there
01:04:02now to carry a long long way
01:04:08chigwezi goes near post jimenez peels away from his markers and towards that far post area it's two
01:04:15horrible defending but the referee's seen something and blown his whistle
01:04:19foul on the goalkeeper martinez i think sanderberger was the closest man to him
01:04:26really poor defending by aston villa but they've got away with it big question here how much did burger
01:04:32their half of martinez and how much of burger did martinez have who was holding home
01:04:45cash mainly awaits doesn't fancy that option concept luis cuts it through to rogers
01:04:53to douglas luis abraham back to goal first to get in does get in can't finish
01:05:02that's the second really big chance they've had in the second half first to walk in second to his
01:05:07substitute timey abraham did really well to get beyond the film captain anderson lovely bit of skill
01:05:13here look and then horrible finish full of one after villa nil was a must-win game for us against
01:05:22the top
01:05:22top top side um they are incredibly good in some moments they are capable always against any side that
01:05:28they play in premier league or in the world they are always capable to find one or two moments to
01:05:32to score the way they build through the spine of the teams they had one or two moments this afternoon
01:05:38too but our work was incredible good and we are two points from the sixth position and it's going to
01:05:43be
01:05:43a big fight until the end you have nottingham this week don't you not even for us in the europa
01:05:47league
01:05:47was that at the back of their mind you think were they thinking about that today was it deflecting focus
01:05:51if they are thinking in the match on thursday is a huge error we must focus this match but i
01:06:00think
01:06:00we are doing it because my message is completely 100 percent each match and today premier league and
01:06:05this is the priority is the priority how important was this to put you back in the mix yeah we're
01:06:10back
01:06:10in it again we need to stay humble keep going um it's just one game four more to go and
01:06:15we've got another
01:06:15tough one next week they are back in that yeah mix for the european places you're impressed with
01:06:21their structure today yeah determination they're really well drilled uh good in the duels um we're
01:06:28just going to have a look at their structure the way they set up two center half split nice and
01:06:31wide
01:06:32edge of the box two full backs just in front castania session on they're going to now end up on
01:06:38the
01:06:38attack here a little bit of movement inside from the midfield player that's the cue then session on
01:06:43the full back on the left he'll run without the ball castania runs with the ball they fix the
01:06:48full back on on the right hand side and just whip it in and then look there he is session
01:06:53on putting
01:06:54the ball away and they were great in that first half second half what they did with wilson is big
01:06:58i think he scored 10 goals this year his most productive premier league they've sacrificed him
01:07:03went to a five at the back the two midfield players are really important i'm just going to
01:07:07highlight the two center halves the distance between because the midfield players tuck in
01:07:12really nicely into those areas burger's brilliant at this and this takes good concentration good
01:07:20determination to see the job through session you're on getting back went off with a hamstring
01:07:24which was a worry but wilson again luca dean down that left-hand seat castania then is the fullback
01:07:31so he can come on to pick up when dear and they like to do this but they like to
01:07:35put those players in
01:07:36pockets and that's how they dealt with it and it was really really um impressive the way they kept
01:07:42their structure they kept their shape midfield never too far away they get pressure on the ball
01:07:47half the pitch but there's always a midfield player dropping in between and the two central defenders
01:07:51never too far apart so anderson can get his head on things he doesn't get pulled out of that middle
01:07:58and villa just couldn't find a way through and they kept them out of the box that was the important
01:08:02thing kept them away they had a couple of good opportunities villa but you see how dogged they were
01:08:08um session you're on again in the jewels and then look midfield player in that pocket clears the ball
01:08:14and i think that marco silva what five years now hasn't yet signed his deal um wilson not signed
01:08:20here's maybe that's linked to the manager they need to sort their future out quickly yeah and
01:08:25do you think they need to do it before the end of the season look they are in the mix
01:08:29for european
01:08:30places that's the positive they could have their best season ever under silver and yet you look at
01:08:35how bournemouth have dealt with their old are going they already have their new man in place and they're
01:08:40they're set the the uncertainty isn't nice when you're a part of football club where you don't know what
01:08:45the manager is going to be you've also got what martin mentioned in terms of harry wilson a real real
01:08:49key player and i feel as though fulham can really take it to that next level of marco silver signs
01:08:54he's done a great job so far and to get into them european places i think he needs to really
01:08:58stay
01:08:59now to that forest thrashing of sunderland vicky sparks was at the stadium of light
01:09:06forest finding form in the nick of time to give a big boost to their survival bid
01:09:11no such scrapping for sunderland this season what a return to the top flight it's been and they
01:09:17still have a shot at europe back from a hamstring injury dan ballard makes his first start since
01:09:23mid-march trey hume also comes in reynaldo mandava and luco nine dropped to the bench
01:09:27fito pereira's formation switch worked wonders in forest's comeback win over burnley so no surprise to
01:09:34see jesus starting replacing backward with kunya in for the injured murillo
01:09:43gives white
01:09:46here's hutchinson
01:09:52still going hutchinson deflection
01:10:06hutchinson short back from anderson now in from hutchinson and it's in
01:10:14igor jesus at the far post gives nottingham forest the lead at the stadium of lights
01:10:23and a shake of the head from trey hume
01:10:26he might have played a part in that as well and it is an own goal of trey hume
01:10:33no chance for robin roofs sunland nil nottingham forest one and he was asked about their prospects
01:10:42of qualifying for europe before this game reduced liberties you never know he said we're getting
01:10:46stronger and stronger so it's possible to achieve something first and foremost you need to find a way
01:10:52back into this one
01:10:57all risky from roofs and gives white to woods
01:11:032-0 nottingham forest
01:11:06and another sunderland slip at the back proving so costly well they invite pressure sunderland
01:11:15and that time they couldn't play through it woods first premier league goal since bagging a
01:11:22brace against brentford on the opening weekend he's been such a miss this season through injury
01:11:29ah his side taking another big step towards safety this evening they lead sunderland 2-0
01:11:40oh lovely by hutchinson look at the confidence with rich forest are playing
01:11:44another slip from sunderland this time from ballard hutchinson's delivery it's gibbs white
01:11:50it's another forest corner and sunderland are all over the place
01:11:55that slip from ballard almost proving costly and mukhi eli in the end across to deny gives white
01:12:04williams plays it short stadium alight
01:12:08alerting their players to that look at the space that chase is out and gives white
01:12:17forest a running riot before half time and sunderland quite simply have fallen apart
01:12:26and i'm not sure they're all heading for a half time pie all of a sudden something looks so nervy
01:12:36where's the marking where's the pressure there's the composure from gibbs white
01:12:43here's hutchinson brought down by siddiqui nottingham for his free kick
01:12:51and sunderland need to get a grip of this
01:12:57anderson touches it off to hutchinson and einer now blocked away and in from jesus
01:13:09this is unbelievable delirium for those nottingham forest fans well it doesn't get much better than
01:13:19this for nottingham forest fine as effort blocked and jesus again with the calmness and the composure
01:13:29that his side have been showing when these chances have fallen to them
01:13:40and this is where sunderland might be caught renylda mandava in free kick
01:13:48and the yellow cast is out for eagle jesus
01:13:56jacques delivery oh if it's a teasing one and it's in
01:14:03to have ballard get sunderland on the score sheet
01:14:08ballard's joy and sunderland's joy might be cut short here they're looking at whether
01:14:15mukhi eli in sliding into matt cells commits a foul final decision is a disallowed goal and a free kick
01:14:25and sunderland's efforts does not bear fruit
01:14:37is our knee
01:14:40looks hungry
01:14:41looks hungry nets anderson wants it the deflection means he doesn't get it but again sunderland stretched
01:14:49it's our knee it's anderson
01:14:54five star nottingham forest rounds off a fabulous evening for them and those forest fans at the
01:15:03stadium of light and elliot anderson takes the congratulations of his teammates and in memory
01:15:11of his mom helen who passed away earlier this month sunderland nil nottingham forest five
01:15:20five goals clean sheet very happy for my team for the players very happy for the supporters for the club
01:15:29um for the staff how good does it feel to be back amongst the goals after that lengthy injury absence
01:15:36look yeah it's really nice um i know morges and i have a good good connection and he always tries
01:15:41to
01:15:41look for me which is fantastic um but yeah it's nice to be back on the score sheet it's been
01:15:44a been
01:15:45a long season for me and a tough season mentally um but it's nice to be back and scoring it
01:15:49hurts
01:15:51to concede a big defeat at home like this at the end it's about our standards when
01:15:56um you are not at the level this league is so demanding you get punished really quickly and
01:16:01was the case today you're on 39 points does it feel like you're almost there it doesn't enough
01:16:07it doesn't enough we need more points we need to win more games and we need to keep our mentality
01:16:13there were a goal down at home to burnley last weekend evita perera made the change to go with two
01:16:18up front and then morgan gibbs wider morgan gibbs white a little wider they scored four in the
01:16:24second half there he kept the same thing that sunderland and they scored five it's working
01:16:27yeah it definitely is and i think from a sunderland's point of view it was really uncharacteristic from
01:16:32the team to concede that many goals but i think a lot of it was down to this front four
01:16:36of gibbs white
01:16:37wood jesus and hutchinson i feel as though from a defensive point of view they were really really at
01:16:43every time any of the back four from sullen or the keeper they really wanted to press and be
01:16:47aggressive and the most important thing is that they went together and that trigger of the
01:16:52center half's getting the ball and algeretti and ballard wood carrying big distances trying to put
01:16:57the pressure on causing someone to make mistakes and when you've got four players like that they
01:17:02all they want to do is go and score goals and create problems and forrest did that all night long
01:17:07against some and scoring five but a lot of it was down to the hard work and that team unity
01:17:12and
01:17:13no matter who it was anderson here is probably taking gibbs white's place and he's doing the job that
01:17:18he was supposed to do trying to run trying to get into attacking positions and getting a free kick for
01:17:23forest and they really really were relentless and i think wood had a really really difficult season
01:17:29and and he got his goal that deserved and that's what they've been doing all night was putting sullen
01:17:33under pressure and allowing them to make mistakes and being in the right position and what a fantastic
