00:26and causing terrible internal injuries.
00:29This is leaked CCTV video of what Israeli military police allege was a detainee being sodomized,
00:36as he's hidden from the view of security cameras by riot shields.
00:40They were arrested, taken away to a detention center where there was an enormous outcry,
00:46and there was actually an invasion of the detention center, including politicians, in support of the Israeli soldiers.
01:11In Israel, the reaction is, is it right to sodomize prisoners?
01:16This conversation went on on breakfast television. It's sort of their equivalent in Israel of GMTV.

01:52TV pundits discussing the merits of allowing Palestinian prisoners to be raped.
02:00Many members of the cabinet are justifying it.
02:02Take the example of the Israeli energy minister, Eli Cohen.
02:06Reservists who do holy work and guard the despicable Hamas.
02:12Ismail Ben-Gavir, who is the security minister, went even further.
02:17Take your hands off our reservists like it is in the prison service, so it is in the IDS.
02:22Our fighters deserve full support.
02:25This tells you that something has gone wrong, but it also tells you that something has gone wrong with us.
02:32Have we heard a word of condemnation from the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer?
02:36I haven't heard it.
02:36Nothing from Rishi Sunak, who promised Netanyahu his unequivocal support.
02:41Nothing from the shadow Foreign Secretary, Andrew Mitchell.
02:44Nothing from Britain's Foreign Secretary, David Lamy, who famously said, or no evidence at all,
02:51that Hamas had raped babies.
02:54And we must recognise that Israel is facing a huge existential crisis.
03:011,300 people dead, murdered, babies, raped.
03:06And yet he has not yet said one word of condemnation of the treatment of Palestinians in these, what can
03:18only be called, torture camps run by the Israeli state.
03:21And I think that means that we accept them.
03:24Imagine how we'd be reacting if this was emerging about Putin treating Ukrainian prisoners.
03:29You can imagine the frenzy of outrage.
03:32You don't get it when it's committed by our ally Israel.
03:36And I think that shows that we have done the same as the Israelis.
03:39We cannot see Palestinians as human beings.
03:44To behave in this bestial way towards Palestinians is not regarded by the British media as disgusting and foul and
03:56inhumane.
03:57It's just, to use that code word, it's been normalised not just in Israel, but in Britain as well.
04:04Imagine we learnt of British people tomorrow morning, picked up the papers and discovered that prison officers had been systematically
04:12sodomising inmates in His Majesty's prisons.
04:16It would be a national outcry.
04:19That would be a sense of utter horror.
04:21You know, you get the Sunday Times investigation team would be in there.
04:25The Sun would be having a screaming headline, sort of denouncing the way that it was being handled.
04:30The Prime Minister would have to come on and justify or denounce it.
04:34There'd be questions in the House of Commons.
04:36You can imagine the near total silence by the Western media.
04:41Most Western papers actually invented stories about what was happening on October the 7th.
04:47Papers which went along with the fabrications by Israeli sources, 40 beheaded babies, mass rapes, etc. on October the 7th.
04:57At the same time, they've downplayed or scarcely reported these horrifying reports of sheer barbarity committed by Israel against Palestinian
05:09prisoners.
05:09I am puzzled that there's been so little Western reporting of this.
05:14You've had the United Nations report which says that quite a number of these prisoners have died because they're beaten
05:20to death or just left to die.
05:23But Salem, which is the leading Israeli human rights group, published a devastating report based on the interviews with 50
05:34or more prisoners, which make completely unbearable reading.

07:03smashed up as a result.
07:23There are 9,500 Palestinians held in Israeli jails, approximately 200 of whom are children.
07:33I was part of the human rights vetting process for arms going to Israel, and a charity called Defense of
07:39Children International Palestine drew our attention at the State Department to the sexual assault, actually the rape of a 13
07:45-year-old boy that occurred in an Israeli prison in Moscovia in Jerusalem.
07:49We examined these allegations. We believed they were credible. We put them to the government of Israel.
07:55And do you know what happened the next day? The IDF went into the DCIP offices and removed all their
08:02computers and declared them a terrorist entity.
08:05This is nothing new. It's been going on for a very long time, probably to the origins of the Israeli
08:12state, and then with venomous intensity ever since October the 7th.
08:18In July, I was in Jerusalem and saw this awful tape of a man, Muazzaziz, coming out of the Negev
08:27jail in South Israel.
08:29And he was clearly unable to walk unaided. His right arm was stuck out in front of him, looked broken.
08:36I asked our bureau chief in Jerusalem if we could go and interview him, and she did. She sorted that
08:42out, and we went together.
08:43He had never been charged with anything. I think this is very important. Nobody had accused him of a crime.
08:48He has a pregnant wife and four children. They came in, they smashed everything up, took him away, and basically
08:54he went through nine months of beatings.

09:16In a nearby cell, somebody was beaten to death and left to die.
09:19He said, the prison is still in my head. He was so traumatized by this experience.
09:38The other interesting thing he said was that every other prisoner is getting the same treatment.
09:44The beatings, the torture, the starvation, the barbarity.
09:49You're not treated like human beings.
09:52He said, this is like Guantanamo or Abu Ghraib.
09:55This is what we're talking about, is Israel's Abu Ghraib moment.
09:59What we're talking about here is war crimes, very grave war crimes, the torture and abuse of prisoners.
10:06Why the ICC, despite the mountain of evidence which now exists, has been unable to look for arrest warrants
10:14against the people directing this barbarity, is utterly baffling and completely wrong.
10:20By failing to act in the face of so much evidence, the International Criminal Court is itself sanctioning
10:30this gross abuse, this inhumanity which is going on all the time now.
10:37The evidence of what is happening in Israeli jails, or should we call them torture camps,
10:43shows that Israel has passed through some awful invisible barrier and is now a very sick society.
10:52The silence of mainstream media and most senior Western politicians, I'm afraid, shows that
10:59we too have entered into the same nightmare moral universe as Israel's security minister
11:08Itamar Ben-Gavir and Prime Minister Netanyahu.
