00:11getting chills thinking about it if you don't know me i'm quite the vr's man and i think vr works

00:31really a horror game but you essentially go into this big abandoned house trying to solve a mystery
00:38so you just walk into the forest you go into the house everything seems fine until things start
00:43getting a little bit spooky so you're just walking around you're picking up like objects seeing what
00:48has happened here you've got like sort of notes and things like that that are very like of the
00:55horror genre and once you've spent a good 10 minutes in this house nothing's really happened
00:58it's a little bit boring and then the music box will start playing by itself and that is your cue
01:04this is when stuff starts getting a little bit spooky so yeah you continue like investigating and
01:10all that and what i remember doing is turning the music box off then you go down the corridor and
01:15you go into a room and the the music box starts playing again and this is when you start thinking
01:20okay things aren't necessarily going to be that great here and then i'll just remember this bit
01:27very distinctly a picture frame on the wall falls off and it's like because you're so like immersed in
01:34it it's like oh my god that's when i start getting scared then you turn around and a door like
01:39slams
01:39shut so it's like okay i'm gonna go and try and open that door it doesn't open so then you
01:44turn
01:44around again and you hear this or that door down the corridor open itself so you slowly walk towards
01:50this door bam this sort of figure just runs past you and oh my goodness when i was playing this

01:57i got the fright of my life and like literally talking about it now it's so weird because it's
02:03such a jump scare moment which doesn't usually get me but like all of the stuff prior to this when
02:09you're walking around the house and just the atmosphere that this game sort of brings to the
02:13table and especially because it's vr you get so immersed in it it just like made me take the headset
02:19off and just nope out i was just like you know what that's that's enough paranormal activity for me
02:24today touched again yeah oh my goodness it's just it's so well done and i still haven't went back and
02:30played it since then so yeah that that moment has just stuck with me as this the scariest moment in

03:04the game visage a long time i can feel this heart in my head it feels weird man what we

03:15you're trapped in a house the spooky goings-ons and that game has so many just terrifying set pieces
03:21one of my favorites and one that's similar to you has footage that i will never ever show again of
03:26me screaming like a small baby where you are again trapped in this house and all of the lights go

03:35and you have to pick up a flash camera and that is your only light source so every time you
03:40click that
03:41button and the camera goes off and you get a little brief snippet of the room anything could be hiding
03:46there and the fear and trepidation that you feel as you press that button every single time so you
03:52know where you're going just terrified as to what might appear or what might not appear and your brain
03:57is going to fill in completely terrifying but that is a bit too flashy one scare that you can miss
04:02comes when you enter a bedroom upstairs and you walk in you and it's really dark and you might notice
04:08a little hand sticking out from under the bed and you might think that's not my beautiful hand
04:14how did that get here and you might go and investigate the hand and then in this like
04:17really ominous silent scene your character for whatever reason crawls to look under the bed
04:24and again silence silence silence you kind of peeking what's going on there and then without much fan
04:30fetch this face appears and kind of goes and i swear down i don't do it justice but i was
04:36pulling my hat
04:37off and i was not looking and i i said i cannot look at this and um it was terrifying
04:42and just
04:43watching it back then i forgot how scary it was i was watching it with headphones on in an office
04:47um eating my lunch you know it really worked so hopefully you've played visage it's an absolutely
04:53banger game and that bit in particular even though you know it's coming out because i've just explained
05:09video games that haunt us i'm actually going to pick a game i haven't played which i think says it
05:13all which is until dawn i saw a scene from that game which yeah i was like nah this isn't

05:19one of the things about being a video editor is you just look through footage of games when you're
05:23making a video stuff that you've never played before sometimes you get spoilers and that sucks
05:27and i don't know what i was editing that had until dawn in it but i saw a scene in

05:31of rami melek's character don't know his name tied to a wall with this big monstrosity machine heading
05:36towards him spinning blades all the works and it really freaked me out everyone's screaming and
05:40panicking you know he's like help me help me i can do monsters and i can do ghosts just the
05:44wrong
05:45arm i keep doing that i do ghosts and all this but the fact that you know people create like
05:49killing devices really screwed with me and also the fact that it's like a face i've seen in tv
05:54mr robot one of the best tv shows of all time to see that rather than a completely cgi face

06:29dressed as john bloodborne um i'll give i'll give some honorable mentions to bloodborne because you
06:35know i like to never show up about bloodborne it could be one of many moments from that game you
06:39know you've got kind of the when you first get the blood ministration and the horrible flaming
06:45werewolf made of blood comes out the floor there's lots of blood in that game comes out the ground and
06:49looks like it's going to get you and it burns into flames you know you've got father gas going
06:53in the cemetery like hacking up the bodies of various huntsmen you've got you know the the blood
06:59moon descending after you've defeated ramen you know that everything's about to get even worse you
07:04know yep that's right that's bloodborne that's all bloodborne okay is it what's the game called
07:10that game is called bloodborne but i'm not talking about bloodborne uh i'm talking about i want to talk
07:17about silent hill f but not this character even though this was a brutal boss fight the first time
07:23around silent hill f is a great game i'm really really glad that silent hill is very much back
07:29i've said this before um yes it is uh silent hill 2 remake was apparently very good but you don't

08:05like your fog world and your sort of nightmare world and in this one it's a kind of it's like

08:10shrine kind of area and you've done all these weird meetings with a kind of fox god type guy and

08:15at some point the main character hinako who is who is a school girl yeah a young girl you are
08:21led into
08:22this room she sits down this is where the game really like kicks into gear because she's then kind
08:26of surrounded by these these maidens in also in fox masks who who bring some kind of case with what
08:34looks like an arm in it and then one of them also hands her a saw and gives her a
08:39little thing to
08:39bite down on and she takes this saw right and she she just she bites down on this this little
08:48bit here
08:49and she's just right she just saws her own arm off and it's it's like it is horrendous you know
08:57i was
08:58there watching this going oh jesus christ you can feel it you can you know and it takes a while
09:03it's properly under you can hear it tearing the flesh and tearing the bone apart you know it is
09:08really really nasty and then that you know and then that other out she she then has grafted on
09:15this gigantic like big white like wolf or fox like arm you know like this great big claw which
09:22is then kind of used to attack enemies in the nightmare world and it kind of goes on from there
09:27there's a there's a moment with a horrible branding and a moment where like you know part of her face
09:32is peeled off and replaced with a fox mask which are all nasty in and of themselves but the moment
09:36where she completely unexpectedly gruesomely hacks off her own arm bloodily and horribly is just like
09:43i was like right okay now this game is as this has started you know welcome to silent hill uh

09:51it's something else entirely amazing right i'm in and and you know come to think of it you know having

09:57having a massive one massive beast-like arm that's bigger than the rest of you and um a lot of

10:02bloody symbolism that seems to symbolize a very specific uh female function in life reminds me of
10:09something else actually um it's a lot like bloodborne oh tom yes polka tom yes
10:26what's the uh worst thing you've ever seen in a horror video game now i don't know about you
10:32but have you ever been to lavender town that place is creepy as hell it's potentially one of the worst
10:37places in kanto and if like me you've visited you know it's the worst and the music they play through
10:44all the speakers terrifying in fact they're a dead pokemon just around horrific it is the worst place
10:53in the world and i think as someone who knows his way around pokemon i can confidently say that it's
10:59the most terrifying thing in any video game ever it really is it is a huge shift like my other

11:05for a game is going to be the flood in halo but i just don't think canonically pikachu would have

12:05what i'm on about right now where are you going with it so i for years have maintained that the
12:10texas chainsaw massacre is like the most terrifying movie ever made it's one of the greatest
12:13films of all time the original obviously directed by toby hooper and then when they made a game
12:17about it i was like i'm not going near that i get scared just looking at still images of the

12:23chainsaw massacre i can't go back and play a whole game about it that would be insane and then josh
12:28brown got to play it and he was like you in this game this texas chainsaw massacre this is pretty
12:33pretty good yeah there are some really silly character additions that they made they don't have
12:37the rights to all the movies which means that you can't get chopped up from texas chainsaw
12:40massacre 2 in there which i'm still devastated about but then it became free on playstation plus

12:53played a lot of texas chainsaw massacre the game and uh i scream every single time that i'm in the
13:00basement and leatherface is there he could be a really bad leatherface player wait a minute

13:14but there is something you know uniquely compelling about like outrunning awful people josh brown uh

13:50the one that introduced bill mosley into the game which is great even though he's playing a completely
13:54different character it isn't chopped up which oh my god hurts me so much but i've got gameplay for

14:36these freak cannibals in the distance and then uh realizing okay maybe i can get out and then and then

14:49worst thing that i've seen in a video game and i imagine it's the worst thing that everyone else has
