Two conspiracy-obsessed guys kidnap Michelle Fuller. Not because they want ransom money. Because they’re convinced she’s an alien. Teddy Gatz and his cousin Don decide that the CEO of the big Pharma company Auxolith must belong to the “Andromedaners,” a dangerous off-world group. And yes, their theory has a very specific vibe: the “Andromedaners” aren’t just showing up to cause generic chaos. They want to wipe out the bees on Earth, break apart communities, and get people to surrender their will to them.

It’s the kind of plot that could collapse under its own absurdity. Somehow it doesn’t. Bugonia leans into the mess, makes the characters’ certainty feel claustrophobic, and keeps the tension tight. Less blockbuster sci-fi, more conspiracy-fueled nightmare logic. Perfect if you like your genre with a wink.

Wenn ein CEO-Entführungsplot nach „zu viel TikTok-Storytime“ klingt, ist er hier ziemlich ernst gemeint. Michelle Fuller, die Chefin des großen Pharmaunternehmens Auxolith, wird von Teddy Gatz und seinem Cousin Don gekidnappt. Der Plan der beiden: Michelle muss zu den „Andromedanern“ gehören. Klingt nach Verschwörungskram, ist aber auch gleichzeitig der Motor des Films. In deren Kopf wollen die außerirdischen „Andromedaner“ vor allem eins: die Bienen auf der Erde ausrotten, Gemeinschaften zerlegen und die Menschen gefügig machen.

Das Ergebnis ist ein drehendes Gemisch aus Paranoia, Machtspielen und seltsamen Bezügen, die man nicht ganz entwirrt, sondern durchlebt. Bugonia ist keine große Moralpredigt. Eher: Schauen, wie weit Angst und Fantasie jemanden tragen.
