Watch the heartwarming moment as 88-year-old retired U.S. Army Colonel Ken Grundborg finally crosses the graduation stage at Georgia Tech, 66 years after completing his degrees. Life took a different path for Ken Grundborg in the 1960s. After completing his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering in 1960 and his Master’s in 1966, the call to duty cut his celebrations short. Due to his active service in the U.S. Army—including deployments to Korea and Vietnam—he missed both of his original commencement ceremonies. After six decades of distinguished military service, which included earning a Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit, and Ranger Tab, Georgia Tech invited the veteran back to participate in this year's commencement weekend. Surrounded by his family, Colonel Grundborg finally turned his tassel and experienced the celebration he earned so many years ago. In this video: The inspiring story of a veteran's dedication to both his country and his education. Footage from the Georgia Tech Commencement ceremony. A reminder that it is never too late to achieve your dreams.
