Liverpool FC has formally applied to build a permanent tribute outside Anfield honouring Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. The proposed memorial includes design elements reflecting Jota’s career, family roots and connection with supporters.

00:00New details have been revealed about a permanent memorial to Diogo Jota and his brother following
00:06their tragic deaths last summer. In the days that followed the brother's death, Anfield was turned
00:12into a shrine as scarves, flags and floral arrangements were left by mourners, red supporters
00:17and players. The sculpture will feature lyrics from his supporters chant and stone from the
00:24brother's hometown of Gondomar in Portugal. To honour Jota's love for gaming, a mock-up of a games
00:30console controller will also be situated on the plinth. A dedication to both brothers will be
00:36laser engraved into the stone which has been chosen to be sympathetic to the adjacent Anfield Forever
00:42scheme.
