00:00The bosses of the alien world are very malignant, probably on a level with the evil warlords of Star Wars,
00:11but maybe more modern and more destructive, less caring, certainly, about the people who work for them.
00:22I can't really imagine them together. Interesting question.
00:26It's so lovely to see you again, the true space queen. I can't believe that we haven't had you in
00:31Star Wars until now.
00:33Has it ever come to you in the past and you didn't want to do it at the time, or
00:37has it literally only just come to you?
00:39I think the first I ever heard of an invitation to join Star Wars was through Jon Favreau, Zooming with
00:48him, and I was pretty shocked, frankly,
00:51because it has been quite a few years with a very thriving franchise doing fine without me.
01:00But I was delighted because, of course, I was there in 1977 watching A New Hope and cheering on our
01:08heroes and heroine.
01:10And so to enter this world and be on a set with all those different creatures, people in a bar
01:19throwing back drinks and stuff, it was really a dream come true.
01:23And then to pilot an X-Wing.
01:28Oh, my God.
01:29I know.
01:29That is so exciting.
01:29I know all the fans are super excited when they saw you in that uniform and they're like, oh, she
01:33gets to drive an X-Wing.
01:34Like, that's amazing.
01:35I imagine it doesn't matter what age you are, you have a moment of, this is so cool when you're
01:42on a Star Wars set.
01:43So what was that moment for you?
01:45I think the moment was initially the first scene I was supposed to start at the bar.
01:52And the bartender came up and was an alien with a big head and kind of little trumpets for ears
02:02and just sort of casually fixed me a drink.
02:07And I, you know, those bar scenes from the first movie are so carved in my memory.
02:14And so I just couldn't believe it.
02:16We had to change it for other reasons.
02:19But I love that about Star Wars, that you're in a world where all kinds of different looking people, species
02:28are enjoying life together, living in the same villages, sharing the same concerns.
02:36And so I just felt right at home in an odd way.
02:42Well, you say, obviously, all about aliens.
02:44You are our alien queen.
02:47So many fans are now like, well, is this setting us up for an alien Star Wars crossover?
02:52Could Xenimals exist in this same universe?
02:54I feel like you're the best person positioned to answer both of those.
03:00I would want to keep those universes separate.
03:03Okay.
03:03I feel like the bosses of the alien world are very malignant, probably on a level with the evil warlords
03:17of Star Wars, but maybe more modern and more destructive, less caring, certainly, about the people who work for them.
03:29Um, I can't really imagine them together.
03:32Interesting question.
03:33But I don't think people would appreciate the alien coming to the bar, although maybe I've underestimated him.
03:41Who knows?
03:42I think people are just excited to see you back in space, as always.
03:46But obviously, like I said, you get to actually interact with little Grogu.
03:50Does it take away any of, like, the magic having now worked on the film, or is he still, like,
03:56to you, just as cute and adorable as ever?
03:59I was so lucky, because in my first scene with Mando and Grogu, um, I didn't know that there were
04:08five puppeteers that make Grogu work.
04:11And so I'm sitting there.
04:13I don't know that the five puppeteers are actually under the table, keeping him alive, the little guy, because he
04:20was, you know, alive, looking for snacks, participating with, with me.
04:29And, um, so for me, he'll, he'll never be a puppet.
04:32He will always be a colleague.
04:36And did anyone on the set, whether it's cast or crew, like to make little references to you in reference
04:44to Alien, be like, you should know better than to invite an alien onto your ship who you've only just
04:48met?
04:49Things like that, because it works with Star Wars.
04:51We did not have time to do that, because we had so much actual Star Wars life to, to bring.
04:58And, um, I was surrounded by, by little robots, by other aliens of all different sizes and shapes.
05:08And, um, and the pilots, I mean, the whole thing was just crazy and so exciting.
05:16And my fellow pilots, I can't really say who, but there are some really wonderful cameos.
05:22Well, we're very happy to have you in this world now.
05:26Hopefully it opens you up to more.
05:28Let's see.
05:29Thank you very much.
05:30Great to see you.
