There’s something very specific about „Dear Santa“: it’s a Christmas movie that wastes no time turning the holiday into a paperwork disaster. A kid mails his wish list to Santa with one crucial spelling mistake, and that one typo sends the letter to the wrong recipient. Surprise. Satan shows up, and he’s played with maximum overconfidence by Jack Black. Instead of bringing joy, he brings mess. The town spirals into chaos like someone spilled glitter across the entire plan for the season, and suddenly “holiday spirit” is more of a rumor than a guarantee. It’s not exactly subtle, but it does have that deliciously dumb energy where you watch the inevitable train wreck and go, okay, fair enough, this is how we get here.

„Dear Santa“ ist die Sorte Weihnachtsfilm, bei der das Kerzenlicht schon nach der ersten Minute nach Rauch riecht. Ein Junge schickt seinen Wunschzettel an den Weihnachtsmann. Mit einem fiesen Rechtschreibfehler. Ergebnis: Genau der falsche Empfänger bekommt die Nachricht, und der falsche Empfänger hat ein Gesicht, das man eher aus Höllenwerbung kennt: Satan (Jack Black) als Santa. Statt Geschenke gibt’s Chaos, statt Frieden wird die ganze Stadt zu einem Feiertags-Drama aus Missverständnissen, Streitereien und „warum ist das schon wieder passiert?“-Momenten. Tiefgläubig ist hier niemand. Trotzdem ist es erstaunlich unterhaltsam, weil das Ganze so bewusst überdreht ist, dass man fast lachen muss, obwohl es eigentlich schiefgehen soll.
