00:00Hello and welcome. Welcome to Nanami, age 33. Sir Wet. So, this is my character. She's not too great, right?
00:12She's only one of the characters for later on in the level. You don't get too close to her, so
00:17she doesn't have to look absolutely perfect.
00:19As long as she looks to part, you can see her from a certain distance. She's pretty great. She looks
00:27pretty great anyway.
00:28I've got another character, exactly the same as her. She's made over in the human. She's made from a single
00:36photograph, just in case you don't know that.
00:38I'll show you how to do it. She's made in something called Mechi. It's an AI software. That's what it
00:46is.
00:47Like I tell you, to get your models out of Mechi, if you don't have a pro account, you have
00:53to send them over to Sketchfab.
00:56Sketchfab will give you the ability to download the model. As you can see, this is how she looks.
01:03She'll do better, ideally. Of course, I can add more mesh to me. I'll show you the mesh.
01:08And this is what you deploy this. If you go here, and edit the mesh, you can see that she's
01:15really, really, really low poly. She really is.
01:19She's got more poly in her hair than probably on an actual poly, I think.
01:25As I say, it's up to you how much attention to detail that you want to put on your character.
01:32As I say, this is for a character who's on the river finale. What I'm doing, she can't move.
01:38When you make your character from a 2D image, you'll notice the hands, first of all, the hands are not
01:47right.
01:47See the hands? They're not quite there. Don't forget it's a photograph. It's not an actual character.
01:54Okay, so her hands are messed up, right? So I'm not going to get too fussy with her.
01:59I just want to kind of get the idea of the conversation in the game. That's all she's for.
02:06As I say, this hand here, look, needs fixing. So I will be changing her hands.
02:12So I'll take her hand off from here. And I will take her hand off from here.
02:17And I will put Emma's hands on this character. So her hands look half normal.
02:24This character comes with shoes, as you can see. They're not really shoes. They're just paint on the character.
02:31Of course, when she's walking, you're not going to be able to tell that. As I said, she's only a
02:37figure for the game.
02:38It's a mystery character. It's somebody you have to go and find. That's what it is. It's part of the
02:44mystery of her night.
02:45What am I doing today? I'm adding a skeleton. Now, like I show you, how to add skeletons.
02:52Now, you can go into a full-wire frame for this, like this. And you can look inside the character.
02:57You can click this.
02:57You can go here. Edit. And you can see the bones. And this is a standard default skeleton that I
03:05save.
03:06As you can see, look, it's not attached to the character. It's separate. So this is my standard default for
03:12any character.
03:13Male or female. All I do is import my Kalada. And it comes in as a standard mesh.
03:21Then what I do, I'll just move it to wherever I want it. And to carry on tweaking the rest
03:27of the model.
03:28I'll just grab the model. As I said, because all of these models are more or less made from the
03:35photograph.
03:36Something great. I've got a different skeleton from Make Human Characters. It's made exactly the same way.
03:44Except, yeah, it's slightly different. Okay. Because, of course, Make Human Characters, they've got fingers and toes and everything else.
03:54And this character is a photograph. So this skeleton is different.
03:59Just kind of move it into position. Go here. Extrude and stretch it down to roughly where her ankles are.
04:07Turn around. Click the first one. Move it to where her ankle is. Her ankle would be right there. Ideally.
04:14And this one needs to go inside here. And this one is a bit on the off side. So we
04:19need to kind of turn the character around.
04:22It'll be over here somewhere. As I said, you want to get it almost where her ankle is. So it
04:27looks to part.
04:30Just know you've got control over the character. Now, what I'm going to tell you to do here. If I
04:36turn around to slide view, like this.
04:39I'll work on the back foot separately. So I'm going to move here. I'm going to give her a heel.
04:44I know she ain't got one. I'll click here. I'll move this heel crease here. I'm going to move this
04:49to about there.
04:53Because there's another crease there. I'll move this one and stick it back there. Now, of course, that's her foot.
05:01So this will be her toes inside her boot. And now I can actually physically move her boot. If I
05:09want to.
05:10As I said, I will control over the character, even though she's not too fantastically great.
05:16But of course, later on, if you unlock the character and find the secrets, you will see the same character.
05:25Except you will see the version that I made inside I'm making you.
05:32Well, yeah. Now, you see how this one's different? You go down looking here. Because this one is straight.
05:38This one's got a little bit of a bending twist on it. So I'm going to put a couple more
05:42bones in it.
05:42Just to make up the difference. Of course, I can do exactly the same for this one as well, if
05:47I want to.
05:48As I said, if I want to move this back a bit, I can just move it to there. I
05:51can move this one back a little bit.
05:53Just so I've got a nice control over the foot. And do it like that.
05:57That way, I can move this one the same as I can move that one.
06:01Okay, corner grey. Check the foot. Make sure the bones are more or less in the right place. Yeah, they're
06:05near enough.
06:06So, okay. Half tilting. As I said, did you don't need the skeleton for this particular character?
06:15And do I want to put bones in there for the skirt? Not really, because I don't need to animate
06:20the skirt.
06:21The skirt will move automatically from the character. So, if I come out of this mode and look at the
06:27character.
06:27Of course, I can add bones in the skirt if I want to. That way, I can move the skirt
06:31around if I want to.
06:33As I said, I don't want to get too technical with the character.
06:38I'm going to move to the side, like this. I'm going to move this up and stick it in the
06:42hip section.
06:44About there somewhere. Just so you look kind of half normal. Turn around.
06:51Yeah, that will kind of work. I don't like how all this is over there. But, she will do for
06:57now.
06:57So, let's just leave it on that. Now, myself personally, I like to give my character...
07:04Absolutely, that's it there. That's going to be like a hip section.
07:09I like to put the little bones on the side of the hips. That's what I like to do. That's
07:15just my own personal preference.
07:18Just in case I want to move her hips. Or the actual side of her stomach. That'd be great.
07:27Because you don't put a bone there, you can't move it. As you can see, look, it's not exactly in
07:31the centre.
07:32See here, look, it's over this side. Of course, I can move it if I want to. I can just
07:35grab all that.
07:36I'm going to push it over here. So, it's right in the centre of the character.
07:41And I can move this one. And I can move this one. And I can take this one.
07:48But you don't really need the chest area. Because you don't really have a chest area.
07:54So, what I'm going to do, I'm going to put it back there.
07:58Because I make my character slightly different to most characters. Actually, I'm going to put it there.
08:05That's what I'm going to do. And now, what I'm going to do, I'm going to turn it to the
08:08side.
08:09I'm going to put it back to her armpit. I'm going to bring this forward to a chest area.
08:14Click here. And I'll move this forward to a chest area.
08:17Because even though she's not much to look at, ideally, she still needs to be able to breathe inside the
08:27game.
08:28So, I need the chest area so I can actually physically move her chest area.
08:33As I say, I don't want a character who's standing there and, yeah, who's actually breathing.
08:39And the chest area is not actually moving.
08:42Yeah, I don't want that business going on.
08:45So, yeah. I don't need to add the extra bits for the end of them.
08:48Because there's nothing there. So, I'll make it here.
08:51Okay, kind of great. I have a kind of do with that.
08:55Okay, actually, let me just put your bits on there.
08:58Because I know that you don't have the extra bits. I know that.
09:03I just want to add them to my character just in case I want to add something to the dress.
09:10Just in case you're interested, as you can see, like that.
09:13I'm thinking, okay, that's how most females kind of look in the 3DK mode.
09:17Of course, most of them don't have so much detail.
09:20Yeah. And move this one approximately.
09:23Where a shoulder is approximately.
09:26You don't have to get it all set accurate.
09:29And then I'm going to move this one. I don't want to put it there.
09:31Get somewhere.
09:33Yeah, actually, let's put it there.
09:37Yeah, let's just put it there.
09:39I'm going to move this one.
09:41I'm going to put this one back there.
09:45Approximately.
09:46And I'm going to move this one and put it back there.
09:50I'm going to turn it to the other side.
09:52Look at the character.
09:53Thinking, yeah, but I'm nowhere nearer.
09:55I'm going to agree.
09:56Okay.
09:57If you're holding your parakeet, that's on the keyboard.
09:59That's that, that, that, and that one.
10:02Turn it back to the other side.
10:04Bring it back a little bit.
10:05So your corner on her neck.
10:07Turn it around.
10:10Just take this one.
10:12Hold your parakeet.
10:13That's on the keyboard.
10:13That's that one.
10:15Turn her around and move her back to where her shoulders are.
10:20Okay.
10:21So just kind of look at your character.
10:23Thinking, yeah, that bad.
10:24You can tweak them and you're going along.
10:26So don't, you don't have to worry about it.
10:29Um, the best thing about it is you can, you can, um, edit the actual mesh, the skeleton,
10:36once you put them inside the character.
10:39So let's put this approximately where her hand is.
10:42Her elbow.
10:43We're not going, we're not actually going to physically move the character much.
10:47But she's going to move.
10:49But, um, she's not going to move too much.
10:51Because, um, yeah, she don't have much of a skeleton.
10:55Much of a body, should I say.
10:58Of course, I still want her to be able to move.
11:01Um, just kind of put this in the wrist area somewhere.
11:06Kind of look at it.
11:10Yeah, that's a really bad looking hand, isn't it?
11:15I know it's kind of low tech.
11:17Yeah, I get that.
11:18But, yeah, that's a really low tech.
11:22You're not going to get much lower tech than that.
11:25I'm just going to look where her thumb is.
11:31Um, let's just click on this.
11:34Let's put her thumb about there somewhere.
11:38I can't quite see it.
11:39Because it's actually transparent.
11:41Put it here somewhere.
11:43Let's have a look at it.
11:46Yeah, it's not bad.
11:48It's almost there.
11:50And then I want to snap this to about there.
11:53And then I want to snap this to about there.
11:55And then I want to snap this to about there.
11:56As I say, it's not going to actually physically move her fingers properly.
12:00But it will later on, when I bring in your character's hands, I can actually put the hand here and
12:08replace the actual hand.
12:10Because, oh yeah.
12:12I know she's a pretty low quality character.
12:15Well, yeah.
12:15Low quality or not.
12:17Yeah.
12:17I wanted to be able to move her hand.
12:20Yeah.
12:21I don't want her like that.
12:22I just don't.
12:24Like I said.
12:26Just kind of looking.
12:27I'm trying to think.
12:28Should I add it now?
12:29Should I add it later?
12:31Or should I add it later?
12:31I'll just add it later.
12:32Because, as I say, it doesn't matter when you add it.
12:36As I say, it's your own personal preference.
12:38Let's go here.
12:40Extrude this down to where the elbow is.
12:42It will be at the same place.
12:46As I said, the hands here, her hands, they're not too fantastically made.
12:51So, the actual mesh that they used to overlap the photo.
12:58Yeah.
12:59It wasn't too much of a great mesh.
13:01Not really.
13:03Of course, don't forget.
13:04It's a free account.
13:06So, you're going to get a really low poly asset model.
13:11As a reference.
13:13Of course, if you want a super high quality model.
13:16Of course, you're going to have to pay for it.
13:17Yeah.
13:19Well, as of all, you want to take the time and the effort.
13:23And customize, tweak, bend and shape the one you've got.
13:28Because, don't forget, now we've actually got a model.
13:32We've got a starting point.
13:34So, you just roughly guess where the thumb is.
13:37Here somewhere.
13:40As I said, I can turn the finger off the actual transparency.
13:43So, I can actually see her finger properly.
13:45Well, if you zoom in or not before that.
13:48As I said, it's a bit hard to see like this.
13:50Of course, you can adjust the settings.
13:52So, it makes it a bit easier for you to work on the model.
13:56Go here.
13:57You can see transparency.
13:59You can turn it up and turn it down.
14:01As I said, you don't want it too far up.
14:02Because, you'll be able to see through the character.
14:07Not because I really want to see through her in the first place.
14:10But, I still need to be able to see through her.
14:13Because, I need to be able to place the phones.
14:16More or less, where I'm on.
14:19Just so I've got no idea about where they are.
14:24As I said, I don't want to overdo the character.
14:26As I said, you're watching the making of a very simple, plain photograph.
14:31As I said, later on, I'm going to show you the actual version that I make over in MakeHuman.
14:38Yeah.
14:39You will see that the look of the character.
14:43He's totally, kind of slightly.
14:46They say, totally, but slightly different.
14:50So, yeah.
14:51It'll make sense later on.
14:53Just kind of sticking inside her face.
14:57And, not that I'm trying to move on her lips and face.
15:00Because, she can't really move on her face.
15:03Because, she don't really have a face.
15:06As you can see.
15:09But, we're still going to put it in there.
15:11I'm going to bring this out a little bit.
15:13I said, I'm still going to put it in there.
15:14Just so it looks like she, yeah.
15:17It looks like you can do that.
15:18I don't need nothing else inside the head.
15:20If I want to bring this up, if I want to.
15:23Stick it by here.
15:25That would be her head.
15:26So, I said, she's not going to move her eyes.
15:28Not at the moment.
15:30Because, we're not going to get too technical with her.
15:33As I said, this would be her lip.
15:37If you roll her over a little bit.
15:39Like this.
15:39And, you can zoom in.
15:41You can follow the contours of her lip.
15:44So, we're going to put one there.
15:46One there.
15:48One there.
15:50One there.
15:52One right there.
15:54One right there.
15:54And, one right there.
15:56I said, we won't be moving the lip.
15:59But, we still want to get the shape of the face.
16:03So, we're going to put this one there.
16:04We're going to put this one there.
16:07We'll put this up.
16:08I said, it's up to you how you want to go about doing your characters.
16:12I like to take time and effort on the characters.
16:15Because, I like to be able to bring them to life.
16:18Not that I have to.
16:19But, I like to mess around.
16:21I like to see what I can do.
16:23And, especially if it's just a photograph.
16:26Can you really actually bring that thing to life?
16:29Actually, yeah, you can.
16:31Does it look good?
16:32Yeah.
16:33Believe it or not.
16:34It does actually look pretty good.
16:36It can't look as good as the photograph.
16:40It really can.
16:41It depends how much time and how much effort.
16:44That you want to put into your model.
16:47Let me just check that out.
16:49I said, I'm watching her lip.
16:51But, I'm not.
16:53You see her lip here?
16:54I'm following the lip.
16:55I'm not following that lip.
16:56I'm following this one here.
16:59This lip is a little bit lower.
17:02I said, ideally what I would do is pull that lip out a little bit.
17:06To make her look better.
17:10But, for now.
17:12Yeah.
17:13I'm not going to make a big video for you.
17:14I said, if you stick her in like a render shot.
17:17She should come out as decent.
17:19Let's just try render on her.
17:20Let's see how she looks.
17:23There you go.
17:24Imagine how you see her walking down the street.
17:26She looks not too bad.
17:29Ideally.
17:30You won't know she don't look too great until she actually turns and thinks she's towards you.
17:35I said, there's more light on this side of her face than there is on this side.
17:38This side's got a shadow on her.
17:41Yeah.
17:42She just said, she's not too bad looking.
17:44You'll get away with it.
17:46I said, over here.
17:48Because of her hair.
17:49She's got a shadow on her face.
17:52I said, yeah.
17:54What do you think?
17:55Not too bad?
17:56Will I get away with it?
17:58I said, no.
17:59I wouldn't download that.
18:00I bet you will download it later.
18:03When I start bringing her to life.
18:05Over here.
18:07Are you present to her?
18:08I hope you're full.
18:08Watch on the keyboard.
18:10Press the mesh first.
18:12Then the armor.
18:16Compare it.
18:18With weights.
18:19I can take the character.
18:22And just take the whole character.
18:26Here.
18:26Export.
18:28And she's going to be called number 3.
18:31Digimon's got a skeleton in here.
18:34So do that.
18:35Now if I click on her now.
18:38I should have to redo her.
18:38And position the character.
18:40In a different pose.
18:42So if I click on the skeleton.
18:44Good pose.
18:46If Blender all works well.
18:48Then everything should work great.
18:50So what you want to do.
18:51Make sure you're on the skeleton.
18:52Put your pose.
18:53Go to move.
18:56Have you noticed?
18:57I can move her leg.
18:58But I can't move the character.
19:01Oh yeah.
19:03Really Blender.
19:04Come on.
19:06Okay.
19:06What causes that?
19:08What causes that problem?
19:10Is she's not welded.
19:12It doesn't make a difference if I weld the character or not.
19:15So just check on the character.
19:16This is how I do it.
19:18I go here.
19:19Come back out of that.
19:20How's this?
19:21Go parent.
19:22Clear the parent.
19:24Okay.
19:25Click on this.
19:26Just clear that.
19:28Okay.
19:29These are the bones.
19:30Right?
19:31So if you click on the bones.
19:33You can steal the bones.
19:34Right?
19:35So click on the bones here.
19:36We can have to delete the bones.
19:38We can just export the model if you want to.
19:39Bring it back in.
19:40It's up to you.
19:41It's easier to export the model.
19:44And bring it back in.
19:45To say delete them separately.
19:48Yeah.
19:49Click on the mesh.
19:51Go to group.
19:52Go to here.
19:53Say yes.
19:55Okay.
19:55This is a group.
19:56So I'm going to go on here.
19:58You don't have to name it.
19:59I am going to name it.
20:01I'm going to call it Buddy.
20:03Say yeah.
20:04Make sure you're locked on it.
20:05Do this.
20:06Go here.
20:07Go here.
20:09Top Blender.
20:10Go down.
20:11Weld.
20:12Go here.
20:14Body.
20:15That's what you just call it.
20:16Leave it on the top one.
20:18Go here.
20:19And apply all of it.
20:21Pick this one.
20:22Go back to your armour.
20:24Hold control.
20:25Press that.
20:26Go here.
20:27Parent.
20:28And wait.
20:30Now.
20:31If I export this back out.
20:32This time.
20:33She should work.
20:35If Blender does the job properly.
20:38So.
20:39Let's click on the character.
20:41Let's go back into pose mode.
20:43Let's click on her hip.
20:45Turn it to the side.
20:46And we want to move her leg.
20:48Oh look at this look.
20:48She's moving.
20:50Oh great.
20:51As I say.
20:52Yeah.
20:52You have to weld the character.
20:54This is a hand look.
20:55I can move her hand.
20:56I can't do too much with her hands.
20:58Because she don't really have hands.
21:00Yeah.
21:01If you want to actually see the skeleton.
21:03Press that.
21:04Click on the bow.
21:06Turn it off.
21:08And of course.
21:09I can position her now.
21:10In a new position.
21:11If I want to.
21:12So I can bring her leg.
21:14Probably back there.
21:17Of course.
21:18If you're going to do that.
21:19I recommend that you start.
21:20To move the actual foot.
21:24See her foot.
21:27Turn your foot round.
21:29And of course.
21:29You want to turn her round.
21:30And you want to keep the leg straight.
21:32Click back on the leg.
21:33Put the leg back in.
21:36Make sure the leg's not so straight.
21:38See which leg you're actually moving.
21:41Between and a half.
21:43As I say.
21:43This shoe looks bigger than that shoe.
21:45It really does.
21:46Erm.
21:50Yeah.
21:50So.
21:51I might actually just tweak this round a bit.
21:53And luckily.
21:53As I say.
21:54She's not the main model.
21:56As I say.
21:56You can put this back a little bit.
21:57If you want to.
21:58Like this.
21:59So it looks like she's basically.
22:00Just getting ready to walk.
22:01A bit like she was a moment ago.
22:03But erm.
22:04You can pose.
22:04Slightly different.
22:06But as I say.
22:07It's entirely up to you.
22:16Yeah.
22:16I don't really like the leg.
22:18Not really.
22:19I don't like the way the shoe is.
22:23There.
22:27Yeah.
22:28I might have nothing all the way.
22:29All the way over there.
22:35Put this around a little bit.
22:40I've got a half turning.
22:42And I'll bring it back.
22:44To where it was.
22:45So it looks a little bit normal.
22:47So when you're looking forward at that.
22:49Her foot.
22:50She looks like.
22:51She's actually going to swing forward.
22:53Not sideways.
22:56As I say.
22:57Again.
22:58It's your own personal preference.
22:59As I say.
23:00You can click on her arm.
23:01Her arm.
23:02Or if you move her arm.
23:04I'll show you.
23:05If you move her arm.
23:06She's going to pull her dress.
23:09Okay.
23:09Because her arm's attached to her dress.
23:13Now of course.
23:14That's how she looks in the photograph.
23:15So that's what it's attached to the dress.
23:19And the same with this arm.
23:20If you watch this arm.
23:23Okay.
23:24This.
23:24This one.
23:25For some reason.
23:26Is not actually attached to the dress.
23:28Which is pretty great.
23:30Which is ideal.
23:31If you want to put a hand out.
23:33So this one hand over here.
23:34Won't really do much.
23:36So this hand.
23:37Will be doing all the work.
23:38Inside of the game.
23:41So if you put a hand out.
23:42You're going to take another hand.
23:44And she's going to take you.
23:46Into a nice.
23:47Dark.
23:48Mysterious.
23:49Place.
23:50What.
23:51Oh yeah.
23:52She'll say.
23:53Oh.
23:53Hello.
23:54So you can tilt her head.
23:55And you can see.
23:56You can't move the character.
23:58And you can see.
23:59She's kind of stretching her neck.
24:03Okay.
24:04Yeah.
24:04That's it.
24:05That's the model.
24:06Basically.
24:06So.
24:07If you want it for download.
24:09You can click on her.
24:09Download her.
24:10And.
24:11I'm going to go here.
24:12Step all of it.
24:14Go here.
24:14I'll export her back out.
24:16I'll call her number 4.
24:19And I'm going to go here.
24:21And I'm going to go here.
24:21And I'm going to go back here.
24:22And I'm going to go general.
24:24Get rid of this.
24:26And I'm going to import her back in.
24:30And we import her.
24:32I'll show you.
24:33I'm going to import her.
24:35I'll show you.
24:36I'll show you.
24:37If you standard.
24:37If I go here.
24:38If you look at the mesh now.
24:41Without no texture on it.
24:43She doesn't look too.
24:44Fantastically great.
24:45But she's got the basic shape.
24:47Of her character.
24:48I'll be great.
24:50If you throw a texture on her.
24:52Say.
24:52Oh.
24:53Don't you look different.
24:54With the texture on it.
24:57Yeah.
24:57It makes you look a little bit better.
24:59Not a lot better.
25:00But it doesn't make you look better.
25:02But of course.
25:03If you went in there.
25:04You twinked around the face a little bit.
25:06Add a bit more geometry to it.
25:08Pulled the eyes out.
25:09Pulled the eyebrows out.
25:11Fixed the ears.
25:12Fixed the lips.
25:14Yeah.
25:14She'll look half great.
25:16But of course.
25:16Don't forget.
25:17In the game world.
25:17She's going to look like that.
25:19I'm going to go here.
25:20And I'm going to render her out.
25:21See what she looks like.
25:24There you go.
25:24So she starts walking down the street.
25:27Of course.
25:27When she starts moving.
25:28Do the animation.
25:30Maybe she's singing.
25:31Maybe moving her hair a little bit.
25:33Moving her head.
25:34Yeah.
25:34She's going to look pretty half great.
25:37Until you actually get up close and personal.
25:41And then the character is going to change.
25:43Because you're going to actually see the actual.
25:46Original.
25:48Lady.
25:49Who was made.
25:50As I said to you.
25:51Over in Make Human.
25:53This is just basically.
25:55A photograph.
25:56Of a Make Human character.
25:57That I took over.
26:00To Meshi.
26:01And.
26:02Meshi.
26:02Did me something.
26:03That looked like that.
26:04Yeah.
26:05Yeah.
26:06From a photograph.
26:07That looks pretty great.
26:08It really does.
26:10Yeah.
26:11Yeah.
26:11Anyway.
26:12Say thank you for that link.
26:13If you want the old lady.
26:14You can click her.
26:15Download her.
26:15And the links.
26:17Will be on the video.
26:18Stay safe.
26:19See you soon.
26:20Bye.
