00:56The South House is basically just a compost box.
01:00I think the people are so afraid of, like, poop and not at all afraid of chlorine bleach.
01:03It just, like, blows my mind.
01:04You can't get any simpler than pooping on the ground.
01:09It's so easy to get it up to 300.
01:12They reflect the sun into this insulated box.
01:16That's how much power the sun has. It's incredible.
01:19So if the wind is blowing and the sun is shining and the batteries are fully charged, we have more
01:24power than we can use.
01:25It's a good time to run the dishwasher. The sun's out.
01:29It might be sewing, quilting, knitting, spinning, weaving. I'd love doing any of that stuff.
01:39A lot of people's houses are fantasies.
01:42My design comes from the earth.
01:45What you're feeling is plaster, but inside is a mixture of sand, clay, and straw.
01:51So this is tires and covered with mud.
01:55So everybody could have a house instead of having a mortgage.
01:59Part of why I'm doing what I'm doing is to create a place where my daughter can survive, really.
02:04It's just not possible to sustain what we're doing, converting the biosphere into a human sphere.
02:10The learning curve for somebody moving out of the city, coming to this place, is straight up.
02:17Straight up.
02:18You've got to understand plumbing.
02:20You've got to understand basic wiring.
02:24But basically, if my power goes out, I fix it.
02:40I'm feeling it that way.
02:43Please notice a bit more,
