00:00I'm now joined in Beijing on the sidelines of this summit between President Trump and Xi Jinping
00:05with the United States Trade Ambassador Jameson Greer.
00:08Ambassador Greer, thank you so much for joining us.
00:09It's good to be here. Thanks for having me.
00:11So let's start with some of the trade agreements,
00:13potentially the purchasing agreements we could see come out of this.
00:15The president was talking earlier to some of the press about Boeing jets, about 200 of them.
00:20A lot of reporting going into this is maybe they'd get as high as 500.
00:23We saw last night, maybe at a sign of goodwill, China renew licenses for beef imports.
00:28Are there soybeans? Are there energy?
00:30Can you walk us through some of the deliverables?
00:32Yeah, I'm happy to do that.
00:33So remember, we're in a situation where we're trying to rebalance our trade with China.
00:37We've had a lot of success in that.
00:39Our trade deficit with China went down by a third last year in one year.
00:43And so we're trying to manage the trade around the kinds of things we want to be selling to China,
00:48whether it's Boeings or soybeans or other ag or energy or medical devices.
00:52And so you can see us bit by bit building up this strategy.
00:56Coming out of this week, you heard the president today talk about the Boeings
01:01and hundreds of Boeings being purchased by China.
01:04We already have a soybean deal with them from our prior meetings of 25 million metric tons a year
01:09over the next three years.
01:10And we expect to also see an agreement for double-digit billion purchases of ags
01:15over the next three years per year coming out of this visit.
01:17And that's more general. That's aggregate.
01:19That's not just soybeans. That's everything else.
01:21Are they keeping up with those agreements?
01:23They have been. So on the soybeans, you know, last year they needed to fill up 12 million metric tons
01:29at the end of last year. They did that. They've now, you know, we expect most of the soybean sales
01:34to go on in the later part of the year, but we've seen some there already.
01:38We saw, as you noted, things related to beef exports, registrations re-upped last night.
01:45So we're already seeing them start to fulfill some of their promises.
