00:00The Other Territory option of the GST Portal is very confusing, isn't it? Let us solve its entire mystery today.
00:06While filing GSTR 1, sellers often panic after seeing this option in the Place of Supply drop-down.
00:12Actually, this option is only for those special offshore places which do not fall in any normal state.
00:17Good News, Etsy, Shopify or normal domestic sellers can ignore this option altogether.
00:24Tension Free, this device is made only for offshore installations or some very specific foreign adjustments.
00:30A normal state has a specific boundary, but offshore areas or a continental shelf do not.
00:37For example, if you sell a digital product to a customer in Delhi, then simply Delhi will be selected as the Place of Supply.
00:43Whereas if it is sold to a USA customer on Etsy, then it is called direct export of services.
00:49But if maintenance service is provided to any oil rig in the Arabian Sea, other territory will have to be selected.
00:55This option is definitely visible in GSTR1 and drop downs, but regular sellers do not need it at all.
01:01The simple rule is, state for domestic sales, export for international sales, forget everything else.
01:07So why are there such confusing options on tax portals that scare everyone, is a matter of thought.
