00:00In December of last year, we signed a historic memorandum of understanding that announced $2 billion in pooled funding to
00:08drive reforms through the humanitarian reset that Undersecretary Fletcher has been leading.
00:17Our partnership, our burden sharing has increased, but duplication and inefficiencies have decreased that cost time, taxpayer money, and frankly,
00:29lives.
00:30In many ways, this collaboration on reform reflects President Trump's priorities for the UN and helping it reach its potential.
00:38His mandate to us is to help the institution reform.
00:44I'll tell you for certain, President Trump made clear from his first day in office that the days of accepting
00:54status quo processes are over.
00:59Here at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, we've been taking action with this guidance on, as you
01:06know, and with these fine individuals.
01:09In December of last year, we signed a historic memorandum of understanding that announced $2 billion in pooled funding to
01:18drive reforms through the humanitarian reset that Undersecretary Fletcher has been leading.
01:27Our partnership, our burden sharing has increased, but duplication and inefficiencies have decreased that cost time, taxpayer money, and frankly,
01:39lives.
01:39In many ways, this collaboration on reform reflects President Trump's priorities for the UN and helping it reach its potential.
01:48His mandate to us is to help the institution reform and help it achieve that potential.
01:55We found that when the UN does what it does best, delivering humanitarian aid in remote difficult locations at scale
02:04with a reliable and affordable supply chain, it can and does succeed.
02:10It's only then when the organization strays from its core mission that it tends to not perform nearly as well
02:17as it should.
02:18So we're here to support its success, and because of the clear commitment to reform and the achievements so far,
02:26we are thrilled today, again, with Undersecretary Lewin and Undersecretary General Fletcher to announce an additional $1.8 billion in
02:39humanitarian funding.
02:40These funds will save more lives around the world, but also drive forward the reforms that we've put in place
02:48for efficiency, accountability, and lasting impact.
