00:00One of my favorite memories was from early in rehearsals.
00:03We had a hundred dancers working on Dancing Through Life
00:06and John came down to film it with his phone
00:09just to see where we were at.
00:10And he gathered everyone around
00:11and he gave this beautiful speech
00:13that was about how he fell in love with filming dance
00:17and how he fell in love with this kind of storytelling.
00:20And he said, I'm not here to chop up your movements
00:22and tell my story.
00:23I'm here to help you tell your story through dance.
00:25We're all in it together.
00:26If you need anything on set, it's a big set.
00:28If you need water and nobody is listening to you, come to me.
00:32And that sounds like a platitude that someone might say
00:34on the first day of a long project
00:35but John held that up through the entire thing.
00:37So I think there was a real community
00:39and it felt, it just, the way that you build a community
00:42in a cast on stage or in the theater community,
00:45that was there in a really beautiful way.
00:47I remember one day Johnny Bailey saying like
00:48it really feels like we're doing a student film
00:50and then suddenly it doesn't, you know?
00:53But that was really the feeling.
00:55It's like, it feels like we're doing a student film
00:56and then suddenly like, look at us now, you know?
00:59It's like a bit, yeah?
