Crazy on the Outside is a 2010 comedy directed by and starring Tim Allen. Fresh out of prison for movie piracy, Tommy Zelda tries to go straight but finds that family drama, old partners, and an overprotective sister make it nearly impossible. It’s a lighthearted crime comedy about second chances, quirky relatives, and staying out of trouble.
Thomas “Tommy” Zelda gets paroled after 3 years in prison for movie piracy. His eccentric sister Viki picks him up and reveals she’s been lying to their grandmother, telling her Tommy was in France instead of prison.
Tommy moves in with Viki and her cynical husband Ed. As part of parole, he’s forced to work at “Pirate Burger,” a pirate-themed restaurant, instead of restarting his dad’s painting business. Things get complicated when:
His old partner Gray shows up trying to pull him back into crime.
He discovers his “dead” ex-girlfriend Christy is alive and working at Pirate Burger.
He starts falling for Angela, his parole officer and a single mom.
Tommy juggles keeping his grandma’s lie going, resisting Gray, and trying to stay out of jail while navigating family chaos and a new romance.
