00:01Liverpool's season is threatening to fade out in disappointing fashion after weeks of inconsistency dented hopes of a stronger finish
00:11to the campaign.
00:13A side that once looked capable of mounting a serious push to defend their title at the top of the
00:20table this season,
00:21Liverpool have struggled to maintain any momentum in recent months, with injuries and defensive lapses as well as missed chances
00:30proving costly at crucial stages of the season.
00:34Questions are now being asked about whether or not fatigue has caught up with Arne Slott's squad,
00:43especially with performances falling below the standard supporters have come to expect in recent years.
00:50Big games have slipped away and frustration has grown around Anfield as rivals around them continue to pick up important
00:59points.
01:00Manchester City haven't been at their best this season and it looks as though they still have a chance to
01:07win the title as they are hot on the heels of Arsenal.
01:12However, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for Liverpool.
01:15It looks almost certain that the club will get Champions League football this season with the top five Premier League
01:23clubs being propelled into Europe's elite competition next year.
01:29Liverpool looks certain to finish in that top five and could even still finish third with a couple of games
01:35left to go.
01:36Here's what Arne Slott has said about their season.
01:40We've dropped far too many points in away games and as I said, but that's maybe always happening in the
01:47end of the season.
01:47You constantly feel you're telling everyone the same things, but dropping points in away games has mainly happened after playing
01:54in Europe.
01:56In games where usually Liverpool is able to win, Villa away doesn't matter if you play it after a game
02:04in Europe or after a week of rest because it will always be a difficult game.
02:08But we've dropped points in away games against teams where we usually don't drop points and that has this season
02:15happened far too many times after playing in Europe and that's one of the reasons why we have not qualified
02:23yet for the Champions League.
02:26First of all, the first challenge is to be fitter and more ready to play three days or sometimes two
02:33days after we've played in Europe and I think we've shown this season that we've progressed in that so that's
02:39already helpful.
02:40Second of all, indeed, we've had more than a few times in away games a good not starting position, but
02:46after 70 or 80 minutes we were in a good place.
02:50But maybe that goes hand in hand, we've also dropped points quite a lot in the last phase of a
02:55game.
