00:00I look like a very chic Oreo, I think.
00:03Hi, Who, What, Where?
00:05I'm Elle Fanning, and this is Would You Wear It Now?
00:12We are starting out strong here.
00:15This is me.
00:17When I was very young, I was probably five or six in this photo.
00:23I remember this well, actually.
00:25I remember these clogs and wearing these clogs a lot.
00:28This poncho is very chic.
00:31I mean, this is quite a choice.
00:32This is at the Sinbad premiere.
00:34This is so funny because, like, in the early 2000s,
00:37there used to be all these, like, kids premieres,
00:39and, like, kids would go and walk the red carpet for these kids' movies.
00:42And my sister and I talk about this all the time,
00:45how those premieres were some of the most fun times in our life.
00:49Like, they were so extravagant.
00:50Like, the after party, it was out of control.
00:53There was, like, petting zoos.
00:54Like, they really went all out on these kids' premieres.
00:56So, yeah, it looks like I'm having a good time.
00:59I don't know if I would wear this exact outfit now,
01:01but I do not regret it.
01:04Oh, all right.
01:04We're growing up.
01:05We're growing up.
01:06This is really special, actually.
01:08This was at the Venice Film Festival for somewhere.
01:11And I was probably, like, 11 or 12.
01:14And this was a Marc Jacobs dress that Sophia actually helped me pick out.
01:19We picked it out together because she, obviously, is extremely close to Marc.
01:24I also felt very kind of grown up because I had my hair in this ponytail.
01:29Like, I was like, I want to wear my hair back.
01:31And that festival was special.
01:33It was my first time in Venice, first time there.
01:35So, this was just a very exciting night.
01:38And I would definitely wear this now.
01:40I think this looks pretty chic.
01:42Ooh, this is a good one.
01:45This is my first Met Ball.
01:47I picked this outfit out specifically because I thought it was something that Alexa Chung would wear.
01:53And I wanted her to notice my outfit and compliment me on it.
01:58And my dreams came true because I was on the red carpet.
02:00And then she was standing behind me and, like, kind of tapped me on my shoulder and was like,
02:04I really like your outfit.
02:05So, I manifested that.
02:07And it happened.
02:08I would totally wear this again.
02:11Ooh, okay.
02:12God, these are, like, blasts from the past.
02:14I haven't seen these in a very long time.
02:16Okay.
02:18This was a hot ticket to get.
02:20My sister was in this film, so I was the coolest girl at my school.
02:23And I got to go to the Twilight Eclipse premiere and bring some of my friends.
02:29I was so excited for this premiere.
02:32I got this at the mall.
02:33There's no designer happening here.
02:35Doc Martens were really cool in middle school.
02:38And these were heeled ones, which I had never seen to wear, like, heeled Doc Martens.
02:43And I took the shoelaces out and put a satin ribbon in, which I think looks pretty good.
02:50Ooh, this is good.
02:52This is really special.
02:53This was a custom Gucci look that Alessandra Michel did for me.
02:57And this was the second Maleficent premiere.
03:01I loved the little nod to Sleeping Beauty and Aurora.
03:04And I asked if they could add little drops of blood from, you know, my finger prick.
03:10And that was incorporated on the glove.
03:13Our version of Aurora in Maleficent was very, you know, like, of the earth.
03:17She was, like, queen of the moors.
03:19And I felt so confident in this dress.
03:22Ooh, okay.
03:24Now, this might be one of my favorite looks I've ever worn, I have to say.
03:29This was Dior.
03:31And this was when I was on the jury at the Cannes Film Festival.
03:36And this was for the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood premiere.
03:39I had this idea with Samantha McMillan, who's my stylist, who has been my stylist since I was 13 years
03:44old.
03:45We worked with Dior, and they came up with this fabulous creation.
03:49It's just iconic.
03:51I remember also, like, getting to wear the hat on the Cannes carpet.
03:55It felt very, like, powerful and different.
03:58And old Hollywood glamour is really one of my favorites ever.
04:01It's hard to beat.
04:02Oh, oh, this is fun.
04:04This is another Met Ball.
04:05Very fun.
04:06Okay, this is a Met Ball.
04:08The theme was camp, if you haven't guessed.
04:10This was a custom Mew Mew look.
04:13And I kind of feel like I'm, like, I dream of Jeannie vibes.
04:17My mom has all these plastic charms, necklace charms from the 80s.
04:22She, like, kind of collects them.
04:23And so I remember, like, I would look through them all the time as a young girl.
04:27And so I had the idea.
04:28I was, like, maybe we should, like, blow these up on a large scale.
04:32Like, can we make a charm necklace that's huge?
04:35And Mew Mew, Mrs. Prada, they worked their magic.
04:37And this necklace was insane.
04:39The detail that went into it.
04:41Camp is one of the charms.
04:42The Met's on there.
04:43I'm on there.
04:44They made, like, a large scale cameo of my face.
04:48And this was just a really fun night.
04:51I really loved everyone's looks from this night.
04:53Okay, this was last year for the Golden Globes.
04:57And this was when I was there for A Complete Unknown.
05:00And my sister was nominated for Ripley that year, which she was so incredible in her show.
05:05And we got to go together.
05:07And I do also spy our grandmother in the back.
05:10She was our date.
05:11That was just so special to have her there and share that night with her.
05:15And I think our looks really look good.
05:17I mean, they're different styles, but they complement each other.
05:19We worked off kind of a vintage Balmain dress that has this cheetah print.
05:25It was quite a big skirt, though.
05:26Hard to fit in a chair.
05:27But sometimes you have to sacrifice for fashion.
05:30Oh, God, another Met Ball, another Met Ball.
05:33And this is Balmain again.
05:34This dress was quite amazing.
05:37This was resin that was manipulated and sculpted and then dried.
05:42It was completely hard.
05:44We wanted to make it look like glass.
05:46And the theme that year was Sleeping Beauty.
05:48There was a poem about, like, a glass statue in the garden.
05:51And so to have the birds, I also think, since I am Sleeping Beauty, I guess,
05:56to make it look like the birds were dressing me in this glass sculpture.
06:01I did have to change, though.
06:02I was allowed to change when I went inside because I couldn't sit.
06:06So I did have to stand up in one of the Sprinter vans to get there.
06:09But it was extremely worth it.
06:12Very special.
06:14Oh, this is Cannes.
06:16Cannes again.
06:17Cannes is one of my happiest places and a place where I really love to experiment with my fashion.
06:22This was an extremely special trip because we got to premiere our film, Sentimental Value, that Joachim Trier directed.
06:30Samantha, my stylist, her son, who is 12 years old, Dylan, he has a t-shirt club.
06:36And he makes and he draws on these t-shirts.
06:38And he's a fantastic artist.
06:40And I asked her, I was like, you know what?
06:42I think it would be cool if Dylan wrote this Joachim Trier Summer because Charlie XCX at her Coachella set
06:50had done this cool thing of artists that she loves and, like, flashed it up.
06:54And Joachim Trier was one of those people.
06:57And we're like, oh, my God, Joachim Trier Summer?
06:59That's so cool.
06:59So we let Dylan, you know, draw it on there in that same font.
07:03And Charlie approves.
07:05She DM'd me.
07:06And she really liked this.
07:09Oh, this was recently.
07:10This is at the Badlands premiere in London.
07:16And this was a custom Coach look that Stuart made for me with that iconic Coach leather and that jacket.
07:23God, it was a good jacket.
07:25And we added little pins that I bought off eBay.
07:29So Arnold Schwarzenegger's on there and different predators from the franchise over the years.
07:33It was the first time that I had actually seen the movie in its entirety.
07:37I played two characters in the film, but Thea and Tessa, they're Weyland-Yutani synths.
07:43And pretty much the whole time, I wear, like, a white leather jacket.
07:47So I think this is Thea and Tessa approved.
07:50I hope.
07:51Last one.
07:53This was at the Academy Gala.
07:56And I really love this look.
07:59It was just so unique.
08:00This was Pierre Palo's debut collection for Balenciaga.
08:04These colors together are so magical to me and kind of different for me, you know?
08:09I felt so comfortable in this.
08:11And I felt so unique.
08:12And it really looked good from all angles.
08:14Like, the back had this beautiful kind of train.
08:17And it was perfect all night.
08:19Yeah, my sister was with me there, too.
08:20So we got to go as each other students.
08:23Oh, picking my favorite?
08:25What the heck?
08:26That's hard.
08:27I mean, they're all so special to me in so many different ways.
08:29But I think I have to go with...
08:32I think I got to go with the Dior.
08:35I do.
08:35I think I have to go with the Dior because it was just such...
08:40It was so impactful at that time.
08:42And I just love it.
08:44So, yeah.
08:45I'm going to go with the Dior.
