00:00What if I told you that I held the power to change the way you look at certain scenes
00:05and moments from within the galaxy far far away forever?
00:09Would you choose to refrain from being exposed to the reality of what actually goes into
00:13becoming an Imperial Trooper?
00:15Or would you fully embrace the truth behind the various puppets, droids and aliens found
00:20occupying this much loved universe?
00:23If it is the former then turn your innocent padawan head away now.
00:26But if it's the latter then, well, this is where the fun begins.
00:31I'm Gareth from WhatCultureStarWars and here are 10 Star Wars moments impossible to watch
00:36the same way after this video.
00:3810.
00:39The Cast Were Forced To Act To Alan Tudyk's Groin
00:42Rogue One A Star Wars Story
00:44Arguably the most unanticipated source of Rogue One joy came in the form of Alan Tudyk's
00:50wisecracking towering Imperial KX-series security droid by the name of K2SO.
00:55The reality behind what actually went into bringing this modified banter robot into being
01:00though is perhaps even funnier than the machine himself.
01:03In order to play the droid on set during his various moments appearing alongside pal Cassian
01:08Andor and the rest of the Rogue One crew, Tudyk needed to be placed on stilts whilst donning
01:13a rather tight CGI friendly costume.
01:16So this ultimately meant that the likes of Diego, Luna and co were always forced to act with their
01:21co-star at a very specific height.
01:23And as Luna would explain a few years back when discussing Tudyk's return as K2SO in Andor,
01:29all involved were likely once again going to be made to act directly at the actor's balls
01:33throughout that shoot too.
01:34So next time you take in this epic double act, know that Luna regularly found himself in what
01:39he classed as a quite intimidating situation whenever K2SO was sharing the frame with him.
01:449. Kanari was only taught to the children, Andor
01:48Sticking with one of the greatest things to happen to the Star Wars galaxy in modern times,
01:53Disney Plus' Andor series also brought with it a new unique language in the form of Kanari.
01:58And as revealed by Marva Andor legend herself Fiona Shaw, it turns out that none of the adults
02:04seen interacting with the children found on Kanari had a clue what the youngsters were talking about
02:09in the language, which was actually a fusion of Spanish, Portuguese and Hungarian due to the fact
02:14that only the kids speaking it were taught Kanari. This forced the actors to depend on the body
02:19language and facial expressions given off by their young Kasa co-star during those flashback sequences,
02:25throwing Cassian's eventual adoptive mother into a similar scenario as the one viewers found
02:29themselves in, with the show opting to not use subtitles during these early Kanari moments.
02:34Knowing that Shaw's Marva and Gary Beedle's Clem also genuinely didn't understand what the spooked
02:39Kanari child was going on about, definitely adds another layer of authenticity to the already
02:44impressively grounded Tony Gilroy Rogue One prequel show.
02:488. Werner Herzog forgot he was acting with a puppet, The Mandalorian
02:52You'd be lying if he said you hadn't found yourself completely forgetting, even for just a brief second,
02:58that the lovable little green icon that is Grogu was actually little more than a ridiculously
03:03believable puppet at various points throughout the Mandalorian series.
03:07In the case of one of the stars of the first season of that Disney Plus hit though, the child
03:11puppet was so damn impressive that they actually regularly found themselves getting lost in the
03:16illusion to the point of actually treating Baby Yoda as if he was an actual living thing.
03:21In fact, director Deborah Chow even went as far as to confess that she experienced one utterly bizarre
03:26moment on set, involving herself giving Werner Herzog some direction, only for the star,
03:31who had clearly fallen in love with the baby, and perhaps even forgotten it wasn't actually,
03:35you know, alive, to start giving direction to his puppet co-star. This genuine commitment to
03:40believing in Grogu being as much a part of the living cast as the likes of Din Djarin and co,
03:45undoubtedly changes the way you take in Herzog's mesmerising work as the client during that
03:49galaxy-gripping first season, it must be said. And he's still real to me, dammit.
03:547. Luke's Last Layer Kiss Wasn't In The Script Episode 8 The Last Jedi
03:59Luke Skywalker's emotional peck on his sister Leia Organa's head before his confrontation with Kylo Ren
04:05was up there as one of the sequel trilogy's most moving occurrences. But what you may not be aware
04:10of is the fact that this specific part of Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher's moment together in Episode
04:153 wasn't actually a part of the scripted plan at all. Hamill would note on Twitter a little later
04:20down the road that this was an emotionally charged day on set, due to the fact that Luke knew he
04:25was
04:25saying goodbye forever. So in a truly touching moment, Hamill chose to land an unscripted and
04:31spontaneous kiss on Fisher's head, summarising his-slash-my-feelings in a way words could
04:36never have conveyed, as he put it. Talk about making an already heartbreaking sequence even
04:41harder to sit through without bawling like a baby, eh?
04:446. David Prowse's Eye Briefly Makes A Cameo Episode 4 A New Hope
04:49It's safe to say there's quite a lot going on as the first ever Star Wars adventure reaches its thrilling
04:54climax, with Luke and the rest of his Rebel Alliance mates attempting to blow up the Death
04:58Star with one highly accurate shot down an exhaust port, as Darth Vader and a number of TIE fighters
05:04tried to keep the superweapons safe. So you'd be forgiven from completely missing one rather brief
05:09moment in the thick of the action that actually revealed a little more of the man under the mask
05:13of the iconic Big Bad than George Lucas and co were likely wanting to originally expose.
05:19As Luke closes in on completing his all-important mission, a quick shot of Vader looking
05:24up at a departing Wedge Antilles brings with it a cheeky glimpse of actor David Prowse's eye behind
05:29the usually hard-to-see-through red lens of his legendary mask. Whether it was Lucas' intention
05:34to subtly peer into the shell containing a fallen Anakin Skywalker for a second or not,
05:39once you spot the human eyeball lurking within during this blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot,
05:43it's very hard to unsee the Prowse staring back at you.
05:475. Carrie Fisher's Dog Makes A Sort Of Secret Cameo Episode 8 The Last Jedi
05:52One sequel trilogy cameo that even the most eagle-eyed fans likely would have struggled to
05:57catch during Episode 8 actually saw none other than the late great Carrie Fisher's own lovable
06:02pooch Gary get in on the action, well, sort of. Inspired by the Leia Organa star's own French
06:08bulldog, Space Gary was actually a chef-y pet also known as Augry, owned by Gatha Elberfay,
06:14a patron of Canto Bites Casino. The tribute to Fisher's dog was an animatronic puppet operated
06:20by Daisy Beatty that was also attached to the costume of Elberfay worn by performer Paul
06:25Warren throughout the sequences on Cantonica. The Canto Bites sequence may not have been everyone's
06:30cup of blue milk, but at least it came acquits with an homage that's almost impossible not to
06:34adore once you catch it.
06:364. Mark Hamill's Number Sneaks Into A Scene Episode 4 A New Hope
06:40A young Mark Hamill clearly had a feeling that a decent number of folks were going to witness his
06:45performance as Luke Skywalker in what would eventually become known as A New Hope.
06:50So, the actor had a cheeky idea while shooting the film's iconic trash compactor sequence.
06:54Early on, Hamill was under the impression that he'd be tasked with delivering a line to C-3PO
06:59involving a serial number in the scene, and decided that he'd sneak his own phone number into the
07:04moment so that it would be forever preserved on film. Only when it came time to shoot the sequence in
07:09question, the blocking of the scene meant that Harrison Ford had to let loose the line instead,
07:14bummer. After arguing over who would get the chance to say their own number on screen,
07:18the Han Solo star finally gave the big baby, as he put it, his wish, and declared Mark's digits,
07:24leading to Hamill letting out a laugh at just how childish he'd been acting up to that point.
07:29But that's still apparently very much the Luke Skywalker actor's number at the time being blared
07:33out by Han after narrowly avoiding being squished to death. So that's something, eh?
07:383. Darth Sidious Wielding Two Lightsabers Is Hinted At
07:42Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith A few years before the animated hit series
07:47that was the Clone Wars burst onto the scene in 2008, Revenge of the Sith debuted the first
07:51look at Darth Sidious wielding his very own Sith lightsaber during a few duels with various Jedi
07:57masters. After first trying to best Mace Windu in a one-on-one lightsaber fight and ultimately
08:02having his weapon knocked out of a window, Sidious once again whips out another trusty red blade
08:07during his eventual battle with Yoda later on in Episode 3. And while some initially assumed that
08:12Emperor Palpatine was perhaps hiding a decent supply of backups to call upon, should he unfortunately
08:17lose or break one of his trusty weapons, the canon truth behind his multiple lightsabers was revealed
08:23during that aforementioned animated show. During an earlier duel with Maul and Savage Opress in the
08:28Clone Wars, Sidious could actually be seen wielding both of his eventual Revenge of the Sith
08:33lightsabers at the same time, suggesting that his second blade used against his little green
08:38rifle was anything but a backup. Fans of the prequels may not have been given any real concrete
08:43information as to how Sidious was able to conjure up another weapon so quickly after his disarming at
08:48the hands of Windu. But those who immersed themselves in the Clone Wars were very much treated to a moment
08:53that changes the way you look at Palpatine's Revenge of the Sith weapons forever.
08:572. A Taped Up Stormtrooper Episode 4 A New Hope
09:01The life of a Stormtrooper can be a pretty tough and physical one at the best of times,
09:06and when in the thick of trying to capture the galaxy's favourite princess, a few bumps and scrapes
09:11are to be expected along the way. However, far from allowing a bit of armour damage to keep one
09:15particularly driven white armoured Imperial unit down, it appears a Stormtrooper seen early on in A
09:21New Hope had an easily missable solution. If you look closely at one of the troops stood alongside
09:26Leia as she's captured by her eventually revealed father, Darth Vader, you'll spot that this terrible
09:31shot is actually keeping their gear together with a simple piece of white gaffer tape. In reality,
09:36this was likely just a cheeky quick fix the folks behind the first ever Star Wars picture were hoping
09:41would slip through the cracks in the finished product, and it did for a few decades there.
09:46But HD and 4K revisits to the galaxy far far away have ensured that even the smallest visual
09:52imperfections can now be easily spotted with just the push of a pause button.
09:56These glimpses into the reality behind what went into crafting this 1977 classic only add to the
10:02charm of Lucas's original trilogy starter though. More tape I say!
10:06Number 1 Pedro Pascal wasn't Mando for an entire episode, The Mandalorian.
10:11Quickly establishing himself as one of the new celebrated faces slash voices of the next generation
10:16of Star Wars tales, Pedro Pascal's work as Din Djarin during The Mandalorian soon helped cement
10:21that Disney Plus series as the best thing to happen to the franchise in years. And while there
10:26most definitely wouldn't be a Mandalorian series without the titular bounty hunter, there was
10:30actually an episode there when the show found a way to go on without the need for Pascal to even
10:35be
10:35on set. With the star of the show actually being too busy to appear in episode 4 of the first
10:40season
10:41known as Sanctuary, due to him rehearsing for King Lear on Broadway at the time, Bryce Dallas
10:45Howard later confirmed that she wasn't actually working with Pascal at any point in that chapter.
10:50This meant that Mando was brought to life on set through the physical work of stunt doubles
10:54Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder in the end, and Pascal simply voiced the character later down the road.
11:00The end result is unquestionably seamless, and very few would be quick to assume that Pedro
11:04was nowhere to be seen during the physical shooting of the 4th episode. But that is very much
11:09a physically Pascal-less Mando seen taking down an ATSD on Sorgen.
