Vladimir Putin thinks the end is near.
On Saturday, as a Trump-brokered three-day ceasefire kicked off, the Russian president told reporters: "I think the matter is coming to an end."
The ceasefire — running Saturday through Monday — honors the Soviet Union's Victory Day. It also includes a prisoner swap of 1,000 soldiers from each side. That's 2,000 people coming home.
Putin's words came on Russia's most scaled-back Victory Day parade in years. The war has now dragged on for over four years. Moscow thought it would win quickly. It hasn't even taken the entire Donbas region yet.
Putin said he'll only talk directly to Zelenskyy after a lasting peace deal is in place.
Zelenskyy confirmed the swap on X, thanking Trump for his help and urging the U.S. to make sure Moscow keeps its word.
For now, the guns are silent. But Putin's "Coming to an End" — hopeful prediction or carefully chosen words? Time will tell. 🕊️
