John Barnes believes England will go far at the World Cup, but does not think they are favourites to win.

00:00France are the favourites. You know, when you look at France, you look at how strong they are.
00:03They've got pace, they've got strength, they've got ability.
00:05Yeah, but as I said, the World Cup is about one-offs.
00:09And no matter how good you are, you can lose.
00:10You play against a team, you can hit the post 20 times and outplay a team and lose.
00:14It's not like in the league whereby the best team will win the league.
00:16The best team does not always have to win the World Cup.
00:18One of the best four will, but you can be lucky.
00:21Or you can be unlucky.
00:22I mean, in 1990, the best game we played was against Germany when we lost.
00:25We were lucky against Belgium, we beat them.
00:27Lucky against Cameroon, we were 2-0 down.
00:28So, you need a bit of luck no matter who you are.
00:31So, I have no worries about England maximising the potential of going to the latter stages.
