00:00Yes, I worked for Keith Urban.
00:01I interned for his management company in college.
00:04No, that story was not about him,
00:05but I do have an incredible story
00:07from my time working with him.
00:08One of the things I was tasked to do
00:09as an intern for Keith Urban
00:10was go through his fan mail.
00:12Never forget the day I opened a letter
00:13that started with,
00:14I don't want anything from you
00:16and I don't even need you to respond to this letter.
00:18I was like, okay.
00:19It was in a girl's handwriting.
00:20She goes, it was date night with my boyfriend
00:22and we went to go see a movie together.
00:25And before the movie started,
00:26I leaned over to get a few extra kisses
00:28because it was a boy movie
00:30and I knew he wasn't going to want to kiss me
00:32or make out during the movie
00:33because he wouldn't want to miss anything.
00:34She said the lights went down
00:35and they got partway through the movie
00:37and then there were really loud noises
00:39that didn't even feel like
00:40they were coming from the theater.
00:42They sounded like gunshots.
00:43She said it took them a minute
00:45to realize what was happening,
00:46but that there was an active shooter in the theater.
00:48She said, if you can't tell by now,
00:50we had gone to see Batman.
00:51She said in the papers,
00:53you may have heard about a man
00:54who died taking a bullet for his girlfriend.
00:57I'm the girlfriend.
00:58And she was like, for literally weeks,
01:00I couldn't get out of bed.
01:02She was like, I didn't know how to move past it.
01:04I felt guilty and I felt devastated.
01:07She goes, and one night
01:08there must've been a power out or something
01:10because my alarm clock reset
01:11and my alarm clock was set
01:13to the local country station.
01:14And the song For You by Keith Urban came on.
01:17If you don't know that song,
01:18it's from the perspective of a man
01:20who's been called to go off for war.
01:21And he thinks about if he would take a bullet
01:23for his wife and says, for you, I would.
01:26And she said, that's the only thing
01:28that finally got me out of bed.
01:30I was wasting the life that he had given me
01:32by just staying in bed.
01:33We weren't supposed to pass personal letters
01:35along to Keith,
01:36but I thought that one was really important.
01:39I'm also from Denver.
01:40So that particular shooting hit really close to home.
01:43The letter was passed to Keith.
01:45I'm not sure,
01:46but I think he actually did respond to that girl.
01:48And he said a thank you to the team
01:49for passing that letter along to him.
01:51He sent us like flowers and bundt cakes all the time,
01:53just the whole time I was working there.
01:54So working for Keith, 10 out of 10 experience.
01:57Don't think you'll ever hear from anybody else
01:59anything different.
