00:02Indonesian authorities are still trying to determine the whereabouts of three missing hikers after rescuing 17 people trapped by the
00:09volcanic eruption of Mount Dukono on Halmahara Island on Friday.
00:14Mount Dukono, located in North Maluku Province, erupted on Friday at 7.41 a.m. local time, spewing volcanic ash
00:23as high as 10 kilometers into the sky, the country's volcanology agency said.
00:27The agency maintained the alert status at the mountain at its third highest level. Footage from the agency showed a
00:34huge cloud of hot ash billowing from the crater and blanketing the slopes of the volcano.
00:39Volcanic activities in Mount Dukono had decreased last year, but have picked up again since end of March, where there
00:46were nearly 200 low eruptions.
00:48The local rescue agency said earlier that 20 hikers were trapped by the eruption, including 9 Singaporeans and 11 Indonesians.
00:58Iwan Ramdani, the head of the local rescue agency, said 17 had been found and evacuated.
01:05It is unclear how many Singaporeans were rescued.
