00:05Jesus died in our place. I've been asked by my children,
00:10what led Jesus to come to earth and die for our sins? The answer is found in the heart of
00:16God
00:16himself, his love and his justice. First, God's love moved him toward us. The Bible says,
00:23for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. God loved us so deeply that
00:30he chose
00:31to send Jesus to save us. Without his love, there would have been no rescue. But God is not only
00:38loving, he is also just. Justice means that sin must be paid for. God could not simply ignore sin
00:46or pretend it didn't matter. A penalty had to be paid. This is why Jesus came. Romans 3 verse 25
00:54explains that in the past, God had been forgiving sins, but the full payment had not yet been made.
01:01When Jesus died on the cross, he took the punishment we deserve. He became the sacrifice for our sins,
01:09satisfying God's justice. Through the cross, God showed that he is both just and the justifier.
01:15So why did Jesus come? Because God loves you and because God is just. His love made a way. His
01:23justice required a price. And Jesus paid it all. Without God's love, he would not have saved us.
01:31Without his justice, our sin would not have been fully dealt with. The cross is where the love and
01:37justice of God meet. At the heart of the gospel is this truth. Jesus died in our place. For God
01:45so
01:45loved the world. This love was not abstract, it was demonstrated through sacrifice. Jesus laid down
01:53his life willingly. Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.
02:00Jesus took the punishment you and I deserved so that we could receive the life we could never earn.
02:06His death was the plan of God to bring salvation to humanity. Because of the cross, you and I are
02:14forgiven, restored, and given eternal life. Respond to God's word. Spend time thanking Jesus for the cross.
02:22Reflect on the depth of his love for you.
