Lighting plays a central role in the Atlas’s visual identity. Up front, available on all but the base model is a distinctive signature that incorporates a double light line running through the headlamps and grille, along with an illuminated VW logo.
Geokhan Solbudak, who works for the lighting department, explains that the philosophy behind the lighting was “to emphasize the width of the car, even at night. That gives the car more presence on the road and enhances the stability of the design.”
The cross-body taillight design mirrors the lighting signature in the front, and standard dynamic turn signals with three animations add a premium feel.
Koukou Nian, a lighting designer specializing in light staging, explains that the approach to Atlas lighting focuses on creating an immediate emotional bond through carefully choreographed animations as the driver approaches the vehicle.
