A strong 6.1 magnitude earthquake has struck the Philippines, sending shockwaves across multiple regions and triggering panic among residents. Videos emerging online show people running out of buildings as tremors were felt widely.

Authorities are assessing damage and monitoring aftershocks, while emergency teams remain on high alert. Initial reports suggest strong shaking in urban areas, raising concerns about infrastructure and safety.

The Philippines lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, making it highly prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity.#PhilippinesEarthquake #EarthquakeLive #BreakingNews #6point1Magnitude #Philippines #QuakeAlert #Aftershock #SeismicActivity #NaturalDisaster #RingOfFire #EarthquakeNews #DisasterUpdate #EmergencyAlert #AsiaNews #GlobalNews #Tremors #Earthquake2026 #SafetyAlert #LiveNews #DisasterWatch

00:16Buildings swaying, people struggling to stand, and a 6.1 magnitude earthquake
00:22rolling through the Philippines felt across an entire region.
00:26Monday afternoon, eastern Samar Province in the Philippines, a 6.1 magnitude quake strikes
00:34without warning.
00:35The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology confirmed the epicenter was approximately
00:449 km northwest of San Julian in eastern Samar, shallow depth just 10 km underground.
00:53And that depth matters.
00:55The shallower the quake, the less earth absorbs the energy before it reaches the surface,
01:00which is exactly why residents across a massive area felt this one hard.
01:05Intensity 5, classified as strong, was recorded in Canavid and Dulac.
01:11At that level, standing upright becomes genuinely difficult, poorly built structures take damage,
01:18and the shaking isn't something you sleep through.
01:21Here's the scale of this.
01:23Cebu City residents felt it too.
01:26Cebu City is not next door.
01:28People there described buildings swaying, that unsettling few seconds where you're not sure if
01:34it's going to get worse.
01:35Many grabbed their phones immediately, social media lit up with people sharing their experiences,
01:42most expressing relief that the shaking didn't intensify further.
01:46Three aftershocks have already been recorded since the main event.
01:49P-H-I-V-O-L-C-S has warned there could be more.
01:54Two questions, everyone asks after a quake this size, tsunami and casualties.
02:00On both counts, so far, good news.
02:03Because the earthquake struck inland, authorities confirmed there is no tsunami threat,
02:08and as of the latest reports, no casualties have been confirmed.
02:13Local officials in Region 8, Eastern Visayas, have emergency response teams on standby,
02:19and damage assessments are actively underway.
02:22The Philippines sits directly on the Pacific Ring of Fire, the most seismically active zone on the planet.
02:28The country is at the convergence of multiple tectonic plates,
02:32and it records thousands of earthquakes every single year.
02:35Most are minor, some are not.
02:38And every significant event is a reminder that for millions of Filipinos,
02:42earthquakes aren't a rare disaster, they're a fact of life.
02:46No tsunami, no confirmed casualties, but assessments are ongoing, and aftershocks are expected.
02:59No tsunami, no tsunami, no tsunami, no tsunami, no tsunami.
03:04Guys, it's a great tsunami, it's a great tsunami, it's a great tsunami, it's a great tsunami.
