03:11Yeah.
03:11¡Gracias por ver!
03:12No, I definitely replayed everything
03:14many, many times.
03:16But it was my decision.
03:18You know, I got consulted by my doctor,
03:21my physical therapist,
03:23my coaches.
03:24You know, I had all the opinions
03:25and they all said that I was good to go.
03:28And I was good to go!
03:29I was third in the downhill training round
03:31the day before.
03:32I felt really good.
03:33You know, the warm-up before the race
03:35was amazing.
03:36Yeah.
03:36There really wasn't anything
03:37I felt like I couldn't do.
03:39Your favorite to win it.
03:40Yeah.
04:28me pensaba, no, yo still goto esto, yo still goto esto.
04:31Pero entonces cuando I landed,
04:32el fue tan perpendicular a la gaita.
04:34So it basically stopped me, and that's when I broke my leg, and then I flipped over, and that was
04:40that.
04:40I mean, it's 75 miles an hour, like...
04:42Of course.
04:43You're bound to mess something up.
04:45Yeah.
04:45When you heard that the doctor told you later on that you could have lost your leg,
04:50what did you think when he said that to you?
04:52You had to have a moment with that, Lindsay.
04:54I mean, when I crashed, I knew that that was a possibility
04:58because another male racer had actually lost his leg in a very similar situation.
05:03And so I kept saying to the doctors, don't let me get compartment syndrome.
05:07I said that the whole time.
05:09But there's nothing you can really do to prevent that.
05:12Is there too much trauma in the leg?
05:15And that's what causes the compartment syndrome, and there was.
05:18And so thankfully, my doctor, Dr. Tom Hackett, was there.
05:22He was able to make the call to make sure I got in the OR to get the fasciotomy,
05:26which helps alleviate all the pressure from the compartment syndrome.
05:29As athletes, especially greats like yourself,
05:32we oftentimes don't think about how much pain we're dealing with and how hard it is
05:38because we're told to get up, dust yourself off, and move on.
05:41Put a smile on your face, and you keep on rocking.
05:44Have you had a chance to really just sit back and give your chance to heal and to feel?
05:50I'm not talking about physically.
05:51Yeah.
05:51I'm talking about emotionally because I know you're smiling right now.
05:54Yeah.
05:54But you've been through it.
05:55I've been through it.
05:56And this one was different.
05:57Yeah.
05:58You know, I need time.
06:00I'm still focused on the physical healing, and I haven't even really got to the mental healing.
06:06You know, like I said, being here and being around my friends and family, like, it helps so much.
06:11And that's why I'm smiling.
06:13Like, this is such a big moment for me to be able to be back in the world.
06:17You know, I've been away for a long time.
06:19We're happy you're here.
06:20We're very happy.
06:21I still have a lot of work to do.
06:23But you're also, in addition to looking the way you do, you've become a spokesperson for a new health campaign.
06:28Tell us about that, what you're doing.
06:29Yeah.
06:30I mean, health has always been such a big part of my life.
06:32And so before the Olympics, I partnered with Invivid to talk about antibodies.
06:36Yeah.
06:37And it's really a national education campaign.
06:39So we're teaching everybody about what antibodies do for you, how they affect your health, your immune system, how they
06:45fight against toxins and germs.
06:47And I just, I really want to share the information.
06:50I want to empower people with it.
06:51So antibodiesforanybody.com.
06:53There's actually a wellness assessment and you can get gold, silver, bronze.
06:57Well, you were.
06:58I'm fortunate to win.
06:58I got a silver, but I bet you would win.
07:01Gold is coming, but listen, you're a good representation for that.
07:05For sure.
07:05But are you trying to get better so you can get on the slopes?
07:09Are you trying to get better because you just want to be good?
07:11Because your dad has been on record saying if it was up to him, are you saying, thanks, dad?
07:17That he doesn't want you out on the slopes.
07:18I mean, I am 41 years old.
07:20Yeah.
07:20So I can't make decisions on my own.
07:24But yeah, my dad jumped the gun.
07:26If, you know, he should know by now that if you tell me not to do something, I'm going to
07:31do it.
07:32So you want to be back on the slopes?
07:33I mean, I want to ski regardless of if I'm racing.
07:36I love the mountains.
07:38That's always been my passion since I was a kid.
07:40So you'll see me skiing one way or another.
07:42Well, we're looking forward to whatever you're doing.
07:43See you on those med steps.
07:44I can't wait to see it.
07:45No doubt about it.
07:46You guys look amazing.
07:47Lindsay Vaughn, thank you so much.
07:48Gracias por ver el video.
