My nightstand's cable situation is basically a hot mess so let's see if an aesthetic cable organization product can help!

This is @Twelve South's $30 Cable Stay, a 5-foot long braided USB-cable that comes with a cooler-matched polycarbonate anchor that weighs a little under half a pound.

Life-changing? Let's not get dramatic. But unboxing and setting it up was a good excuse to organize my nightstand with some cable concealment.

I think it's a nice little gift for a housewarming or even new job if you set it up at a desk. Although charging cord weights are nothing new, I like what you get in the combine package for the price. That said, I don't think a $10 version of the just weight would be a bad option for Apple Store shelves...

00:00I am coming to you live from my nightstand where I, for who knows what reason, decided that a tissue
00:07box and an alarm clock are suffice cable management. Now from my door over there you actually cannot
00:13see any of this cable mess, so my issue isn't so much cable concealment. I do however have an issue
00:20when I can't grab the cable I want while I'm in bed. My friends at 12 South just came out
00:25with a
00:25new product. It's called CableStay and it is a one and a half meter or five feet USB-C cable
00:32that
00:33comes with a weighted anchor. This already is not what I thought it was. I've seen those like little
00:38stick-on clips that you could put on to feed your cables. This is more like a paperweight. This
00:43thing has some heft to it. Then we also get a USB-C cable. This is a nice touch. It's
00:49a leather cable
00:50strap. I'm just gonna move this cable out of the way, although there's no reason that you can use
00:54your existing USB-C cable. 12 South, if you're watching this, you might want to make a version
00:59that doesn't come with a cable and is cheaper. Wait, like, there? How does that look? See, I really
01:06like that because if the cable falls down, it anchors it in place, and I can, you know, pull it
01:11up
01:11just like that. What do we think? That's better. It's definitely better than whatever was going on
01:18before. Is this the type of product that's going to change my life? Probably not, but you gotta give it
01:23to
01:23me that this does look a lot better. It also comes in pink, if that's more your style.
