An elephant that was brought for a temple festival went berserk, killing one, in southwestern Indian state of Kerala on Friday (May 1).

00:13ran amok at a temple in Ernakulam, Kerala on Friday.
00:18The elephant reportedly damaged nearby vehicles before suddenly attacking a lorry driver who
00:23had transported the animal to the temple.
00:25Eyewitnesses said the animal lifted the man with its trunk, trampled him and fatally
00:30gored him, killing him at the scene.
00:33The primary mahout sustained serious injuries while trying to restrain the elephant and is
00:38receiving treatment in an intensive care unit.
00:41A specialized elephant squad from the Forest Department was deployed and after nearly four
00:46hours the animal was successfully tranquilized around noon.
