01:12brain thank you he followed several celebrities as they entered a residential drug treatment center
01:17where the hell are we the result was an experience called celebrity rehab that experience revealed
01:23just how hard the road to recovery is you smuggled drugs into the place i said no i did not
01:30take it back
01:33you you you're not a participant you're just like us the joy that comes from a sober life and on
01:40the
01:40sober living i recommend it for you and i recommend it for you and guess what i recommend it for

01:47staying sober is a daily battle 93 of all inpatients stay sober then it dips to 10 when they transition
01:55to home so there's an intermediate stage that recovering addicts must get through they do this
02:01by moving into what we call a sober house at sober house addicts have one foot in treatment
02:06and one foot in the real world there will be boundaries and rules we must follow our tours there's
02:13like rules and we'll go through it together there will be chores for them to do they'll be required
02:17to get a job i can offer you ten dollars an hour we will have a curfew each night we're
02:23going to
02:23escort you all right do the show right i know i know the guidelines there's no sex no acting out
02:29violently with each other and of course no drugs or alcohol you need to not drink and not take drugs
02:36and you need to get your together got that that's it that's the bottom line
02:42the sober house is led by jennifer jimenez an accomplished actress who started the movies
02:47vanilla sky and blow she's also a recovering drug addict jen will have a tough job because she has to
02:54enforce the rules and help guide a house full of addicts who are just starting their recovery in the
03:00real world it's not my job to be their babysitter my job is to try and enforce the rules will
03:05who
03:05everybody knows from celebrity rehab is back he's the muscle of the house he backs up jen and keeps
03:11everyone in line bob forrest my head counselor and one of the biggest success stories in recovery himself
03:17will make regular visits to the house and actually run a group there these patients have to get used to
03:23the fact that they are now outpatients they're no longer under my continuous inpatient care but make
03:29no mistake they'll be seeing a lot of me i will be continuously in touch and supervising their care i
03:34will
03:34know if anything is going on in the silver house the stakes are high they'll want to party
03:52sadly they'll often relapse this is a junkie that's paranoid that throws this crap burnt tin foil in a
04:00crack light it's insanity at its greatest they will either slip back into the deadly cycle of
04:09addiction i'm drinking in first class see you soon okay i want to go home now just can't handle it
04:17yeah or they will move forward and enjoy the kind of life that each of them deserves a life that

04:24sober i'm doing this for me yeah but most of all you know i owe it to my kids because

04:30they haven't had a chance to see me sober

04:45i'm so sorry i would just do that they will feel like jumping out of their skin
04:50i'm not so stupid like he thinks i am but ultimately they will come to the realization that they are
04:55entitled to a sober life
05:10it's day one of sober living and the patients are arriving from a month of rehab to check into the
05:16sober living house in the hollywood hills these patients have just completed 21 days of treatment
05:21the past new recovery center they've had a week to return home gather their belongings and see
05:26their loved ones and they are now returning to enroll for 30 days of ongoing care in a sober living
05:32environment here in hollywood so uh here we go i'm gonna check myself into the sober house
05:40it's the next chapter next chapter in the shifty saga you can take the long way over there i'm in

05:48hurry i'm nervous man i am nervous i shouldn't be because this is the part where i'm getting my
05:57life together but i am i'm nervous you know
06:03well that it goes from rehab to home they're not going to make it i mean there's very few that
06:07can
06:08you know i guess reality is setting them i don't have discipline i don't have structure i have nothing to
06:13even start with i don't know how to live sober you know i have no idea what i'm doing sober
06:19living is
06:20an environment where people go post rehab to live together with other addicts who are newly sober
06:26support each other and confront each other when you slip up the difference between celebrity rehab
06:32which is a residential treatment center and the sober house is people like me doctors are not around
06:36all the time they're not going to see me all the time and that's a shock for them as they
06:39begin to
06:40get some separation and autonomy the good thing about sober living on like rehab is you're kind
06:44of living in the real world and so i'm hoping that i'll be able to learn how to cope without
06:49using alcohol or drugs man i got dealers over here all i do is think about drinking every second of
06:59every
06:59day i've been sober for you know over 30 days now and i want to make sure that i can
07:06live the lifestyle
07:08that i want to live as far as my music is concerned without being high my drug addiction just started
07:15to skyrocket and i started doing what it took to get money for drugs and i became a high-end
07:22escort you
07:24know the title of one of the 50 sexiest women in the world by maxim magazine was now used to
07:29sell me
07:31so i got 22 days of being sober the fears i have is is relapsing 95 of people doing this
07:42through relapse and i don't want to be one of those 95 who do relapse i want to be able
07:49to say i'm one of the
07:50five percent we do make it and do succeed
08:08the hardest turn in my whole life
08:13amber smith from celebrity rehab 2 is a supermodel with long-term opiate addiction
08:19i started modeling at 15 years old i garnered about 300 international magazine covers and sports
08:26illustrated swimwear issues all the while i was heavily addicted to pills
08:34i've been addicted for 16 years straight i've never been off how'd you find the opiates
08:40my mother's been addicted so she gave them to you
08:42um amber is a severe opiate addict opiate addiction has the highest relapse rate
08:50she has to take her sobriety seriously and be very diligent about establishing a sober life
09:13living living houses are run by recovering addicts i have two and a half years in recovery nice

09:51I want my independence and I want to hit life sober, but yet I've never been in sober living.

10:10Seth readmitted to Celebrity Rehab 2 after a terrible relapse and ended up on our roof smoking crack.
10:15You know, the last year, you know, it's definitely been a challenge for me to overcome my dark relationship with
10:21that drug.
10:22Seth is a chronic relapsing stimulant addict.
10:26For Seth being so close to Hollywood Boulevard, the nightclubs and the environments where he used to score, there is
10:31danger just down the hill.
10:33He has very high hopes to rekindle his life as a father, get the trust of his wife and his
10:39son remains heartbroken.
10:40My fear is that Seth will not address some of these fundamental issues and he'll go out, he'll relapse again.
10:46And my ultimate fear is he will die.
10:48I have lots of fears right now.
10:49I mean, I just got like a week or two of sobriety.
10:52It's like the disease is still stronger than me at this point.
10:54Like I'm on shaky ground.
10:55Every move matters.

16:11This is a pivotal year in Nicky's life.
16:13With the one-year anniversary of her mother's death approaching while she is living in the
16:17sober house, this will be a watershed month for her.
16:20This is a chance to get used to being a sober person in the world.
16:24Nicky, in addition, has the stress of being concerned about and worried about her children

19:34Stephen Adler gave Shelly and me and Bob a very difficult time in treatment.
19:38He has an extreme problem with authority.
19:41Jen will definitely have her hands full being an authority figure to Stephen.
19:44And in many ways, he's just still like an 11-year-old and really rebels against all authority.
19:49For Stephen, so many people in his life have really had it with his disease, and if he
19:53is not able to sustain sobriety, I'm not sure many of the people in his life would have
19:58him back.

26:26something most addicts don't have just one stash we found that one they have multiple stashes
26:34socks i loved using socks that's why i used to always put my my socks oh yeah and my do
26:43we have a lot
26:44socks oh yeah i mean every one day oh four-handed sock diversion i remember this one thinking all will

26:59tired by the 390th day one of the things i try not to do is call dr drew unless it's
27:06an absolute
27:07emergency but it's only day one and i have a guy here wasted on heroin i really had no choice
27:14at that
27:14point hey dr drew it's jed steven adler's high as a kite and i found needles in his pocket and
27:22there's
27:22residue and heroin i have the needles and i have the heroin we have a crisis and we need you
27:48just got a call from jan at the sober house and steven adler showed up with heroin with syringes
27:54probably loaded boy he just left us he had just went out into the world with a good attitude doing
28:02well and here we are now use it again and then with him knowing we were going to check i
28:07i'm dying

28:14jen and i were trying to deal with steven as quietly as possible we didn't want everybody in
28:19the house to know that he was on drugs but you could tell it was starting to spread through the

28:46as time passed steven was starting to become sicker and sicker from the heroin

29:54with some rigs totally what was that needles oh okay yeah that's what jen was saying came in here

30:10drew pulling up in the driveway was one of the greatest sights in the whole world
30:15for me to be at that house things had to be really bad and so there i was and indeed

31:57he doesn't really need detox and yet here he is in the house intoxicated having used in the house
32:03so understandably jen wants him out from my standpoint if we find things on him we get rid of

34:24it's not uncommon for patients to show up to sober living high but whether they stay in
34:29sober living or go to a hospital depends on how much they've been using and for how long
34:35as long as we go to see dr drew
34:36uh-oh keep in mind this is not a hospital this really is not my environment that's why i asked
34:48bob forrest to come over and help me out he knows how to deal with these issues out there in
34:52the real

35:53go because this is exceptional circumstances coming up you're used to me being all over you guys in a

36:19steven's high out of his mind yeah steven's high the report is using since this morning he cops are
36:24using yesterday he may or may not have a kick i personally don't think that it's okay for him to

37:03initially i believe that steven should have gone to treatment but after talking to dr drew and bob
37:09i realized that steven going home with will would be the best thing to do that way he gets sober

37:26watch you and then we'll come back in the morning you'll come to group we'll start a new day come

37:36and uh this is good okay so we've got a month ahead of us whole month of treatment ahead all
37:42right so
37:42steven has gone home with will for the night but i needed everyone in the house to understand
37:46that i can't come running out there every time there's a crisis this is their house they need
37:51to manage it wait we want to go inside and talk really quick everybody so i gathered the group
37:55together to help them understand that things were going to be different in sober house than they were
37:59in rehab okay guys you're used to me being all over you guys in a residential program this is not

38:06you are living independently this is an environment where you decide to stay sober this is your life you're
38:12starting to lead in an independent fashion and this is the stepwise entry into that life
38:19you got to get a job you got to go do the things that you've been neglecting for a long
38:23time
38:23and you got to decide you're gonna do it sober it's time to make that decision make that commitment
38:27and really do it don't use here don't use here okay

38:45sober and landed this is always the way it is in sober living some people are more ready than others
38:49some people use driving from a hospital to a sober living this is typical stuff they've got to know
38:55this is independent living they have to decide to live sober and they have to do it
39:03coming up if i don't hear from you in over 24 hours like that's what's gonna happen if i get
39:09that's so cute i love that you guys are setting the rules so why don't you go by your rules

39:27some of it was in his pants he hasn't worn in 10 years but wait what how did he get

39:33end because he probably had it he had somewhere else because you know heroin's quick acting yeah it
39:39doesn't hit you three hours after someone grab you know grabs it boom you're gonna go out for 30
39:44minutes you know yeah and he shoots it so he had some because he got really high at the end
39:51and then
39:51he got sick so i think he might even shot some more yeah right before he got sick because the
39:57minute you
39:57shoot it you get i think because he was trying to grab everything out he grabbed what he could
40:01yeah and used and then he has a strike yeah you know he's gonna
40:09steven's behavior tonight started things off on a bad note for everybody he deserves and is
40:15getting a strike if he does one more thing i can kick him out at any time yeah but if
40:19you mess up
40:20and then you come back and you get it together in your service you get another try but if you
40:24leave for three days on a three-day binge yeah if i don't hear from you in over 24 hours

40:29that's what's gonna happen if i get out that's so cute i love that you guys are setting the rules
40:32so why don't you go by your rules that's because they seem to work really well for you right because

40:57okay it was the first day and a miracle today was not what i expected took me a lot not

41:49but we took the first day and we were aware of the obvious two things and we were able to
