00:00Et breaking news tonight, in the murder case against singer David, NBC News has obtained
00:04some court documents laying out some of the prosecution's allegations against him, including
00:09cutting up the body of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez with a chainsaw.
00:14Now let's bring in Camila Bernal to walk us through these new details.
00:17And a warning, these are very, very disturbing details.
00:21What more did we learn about today regarding the relationship between David and Celeste?
00:27Yeah, so we talked about it on the show, and now we know that there was a sexual relationship.
00:32They met when she was just 11 years old, but they started that sexual relationship when
00:37she was 13 years old, and they continued.
00:40And prosecutors actually say they have photos, text messages that talk about the sexual relationship,
00:47abortions, Plan B.
00:48So there are a lot of details that they found in the text messages.
00:51She then at some point is reported missing by her parents, and they see that she's talking
00:57to David.
00:57And so investigators call David and tell him she's missing, and she's a minor.
01:02And he says, oh, I didn't know she was a minor.
01:03They go to his house.
01:04He again says, I didn't know she was a minor.
01:06She shows up two days later after she goes missing.
01:10And so they continue dating.
01:11They travel together.
01:12They go to Vegas.
01:13They go to Texas together.
01:14And at some point, they break up.
01:17But investigators say they still kept that sexual relationship.
01:20And then it's April of 2025.
01:23They have this big blow up.
01:25And she texts him, essentially expressing some jealousy and saying, look, I'm going to
01:31ruin your career.
01:32I'm going to talk about our relationship.
01:34He orders an Uber to her house the next day.
01:37She takes that Uber from her house to his house.
01:40And investigators say that that night, her phone goes blank.
01:44There's no activity.
01:46Yes, 2020.
01:47It is hard to hear that investigators, jurisdictions are obviously different.
01:52But they were checking with David.
01:55Yes.
01:56When she was missing, then she went back home.
01:58Then she's found in his car, in his Tesla, months later.
02:04And then we wait months and months and months.
02:06And finally, we're starting to see a full picture.
02:09And yet, that's not the only detail that we learned today, right?
02:13Yeah.
02:13And again, I want to give that warning in case you need to mute, because it is pretty gruesome.
02:18So investigators say that they believe when she went to his house, he stabbed her multiple
02:23times and stood by while she bled out.
02:26They also say they have a lot of his Amazon purchases, which were made under another name,
02:31but were delivered to his home.
02:32Among those purchases are a chainsaw, an inflatable pool, a body bag, and laundry bags that were
02:42heavy duty.
02:43They also actually have his Postmates order, which was a Home Depot order.
02:48He got a shovel via Postmates.
02:51So they have all of this that was delivered to his house.
02:55Investigators also say that on Celeste's body, they found pieces of that plastic inflatable
03:01pool.
03:02They obviously, again, say they have all of these text messages.
03:05They have surveillance video of him being the last person to drive that Tesla before
03:10he went on tour.
03:12They feel like they have a ton of evidence, which was presented in this document today.
03:18The defense did not want this to be public, but the judge says this is a public document.
03:23So now we have all of this.
03:24They've scheduled a preliminary hearing for May 12.
03:27But we'll see what happens because there is a ton of evidence against him.
03:31So we'll see what his defense team decides to do.
03:34Yeah, it definitely sounds like a ton of evidence.
03:36And yet the question remains, like, why did it take so long to make an arrest if they had
03:41so much evidence?
03:42Well, they were piecing it together later.
