00:06One Piece is definitely not slowing down anytime soon.
00:09After a massive comeback, the show is bigger than ever,
00:12pulling in insane viewership numbers and dominating Netflix charts worldwide.
00:17The good news? Season 3 is already in the works.
00:20Filming reportedly started back in November,
00:23so we probably won't have to wait as long this time.
00:25Right now, it's looking like a mid-to-late 2027 release window.
00:30As for the cast, the main crew is sticking around.
00:34Inyaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami,
00:37Makenyu as Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Yusopp,
00:41and Taz Skyler as Sanji.
00:43Plus, new faces like Zolomera Duenya are joining the adventure too.
00:47Story-wise, Season 3 is where things get serious.
00:51Season 3 is pretty much set to focus heavily on the Alabasta arc,
00:55and that's not really a surprise if you've seen how Season 2 ends.
00:59It clearly sets up Alabasta while wrapping up the Drum Island arc.
01:03So yeah, we're basically looking at Chapters 155 to at least 217 being adapted this time.
01:10The Alabasta arc is where things really kick off.
01:13The Straw Hats finally reach the kingdom of Alabasta to stop a full-blown civil war
01:18and take down Baroque Works leader Mr. Crocodile.
01:21The Marines show up again, Luffy runs into someone from his past,
01:25Ace fans you already know, and we get the full reveal of Crocodile's real plan.
01:30Basically, a lot is going on here.
01:32It's also one of the bigger arcs in One Piece,
01:35covering 63 manga chapters and 39 anime episodes.
01:39To put that into perspective, the Drum Island arc,
01:42covered in just 4 episodes in Season 2, was only 25 chapters and 14 episodes.
01:47Because of how massive Alabasta is, there's a good chance Season 3 sticks entirely to this arc,
01:53especially if it follows the usual 8-episode format.
01:57If they do squeeze in anything extra, it'll probably be the short Jaya arc, chapters 218 to 236.
02:04That arc mainly helps set up a future Straw Hat member, no spoilers,
02:08and starts teasing Blackbeard as a major villain after Crocodile.
02:11It would actually make for a great cliffhanger and smoothly lead into the Sky Island saga for Season 4.
02:18Co-showrunner Joe Trass even confirmed that the scale of this story is a big reason they split it across
02:24seasons.
02:25He said,
02:29We're currently filming Season 3, which is the second part of the Alabasta story.
02:33We knew that arc is so beloved, it's so important, it's so complicated,
02:37that to try to compress it into one 8-episode season was always going to leave out some of the
02:42heart of it.
02:43He added,
02:44The chance to split that up and to let the story really be about meeting Miss Wednesday, who turns out
02:49to be Vivi,
02:49We're learning about Baroque Works and this bigger plan this criminal organization has and setting up a third season,
02:56where we're going to get to Alabasta and fight this war.
02:59It was always a two-season plan.
03:01We're lucky enough that we're getting to wrap up that story.
03:04Taz Skyler, who plays Sanji, also teased how wild Season 3 is going to be.
03:09He said,
03:09There are moments in Season 3 that I feel in my heart would never have been possible on any other
03:14kind of TV show.
03:15I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of it.
03:18We definitely had a moment together where we were like,
03:21Holy cow, dude, I can't believe this is happening.
03:23For now, we'll just have to wait for more updates, but if you're too hyped to sit around,
03:28diving into the anime is probably the best way to get ahead of what's coming next.
03:33Emily Rudd, who plays Nami,
03:34recently hinted that the next season of Netflix's live-action adaptation will feel noticeably different compared to Seasons 1 and
03:422.
03:43Since its debut in 2023, the show has been praised for bringing the anime's wild, adventurous vibe into live-action
03:50while keeping its colorful world and fun tone intact.
03:53But now, things might get a little deeper.
03:56In an interview, Emily Rudd shared that while the show will still have its signature chaotic energy,
04:02Season 3 will focus more on emotional storytelling and real-world themes.
04:07She said,
04:07I know this is crazy to say about One Piece, and it's still got the wacky wild elements,
04:12but the root of the story that we are telling for Season 3 is grounded.
04:16I think more than Season 2 and Season 1,
04:19the through-line is something that I think a lot of people in America, across the world,
04:23can see and understand and be like,
04:25Oh, I think I've maybe experienced this in some way, shape, or form.
04:29This is very timely, and hopefully it's a story of hope for them all.
04:34Even though One Piece is known for its over-the-top world, strange characters, and fantasy settings,
04:40Season 3 is expected to lean more into the human side of the story.
04:44A big reason for this shift is likely the storyline the show is heading into next.
04:49Season 3 is widely expected to adapt the Alabasta saga,
04:53one of the most important arcs in the original story.
04:56In this arc, the Straw Hat Pirates travel to the desert kingdom of Alabasta with Princess Vivi
05:02as they try to stop a civil war being secretly orchestrated by the criminal organization Baroque Works.
05:08At the center of it all is Crocodile,
05:11the mastermind pulling the strings and pushing the kingdom toward chaos.
05:15Compared to earlier arcs, this storyline brings much bigger emotional and political stakes,
05:20exploring themes like leadership, rebellion, misinformation, and loyalty.
05:25Season 2 already raised the stakes by sending Luffy and the crew into the Grand Line,
05:29where they face new dangers, explore strange islands, and meet powerful enemies.
05:35Season 3 is expected to build on that, not just in scale but also in emotional impact.
05:40That said, Netflix's live-action One Piece might be making a pretty big change in Season 3,
05:46and it could involve cutting or heavily reworking one of the notable fights from the original story.
05:51One fan-favorite fight from the manga and anime might not play out the same way,
05:56or might not happen at all.
05:58The fight in question is the USOP and Chopper team-up against Baroque Works agents Mr. Four and Miss Merry
06:05Christmas.
06:06In the original story, Mr. Four uses explosive baseballs,
06:10launching them with a ridiculously heavy bat, which becomes a key part of the battle.
06:14It's a weird, chaotic fight, but also surprisingly emotional and intense.
06:19The issue is that Netflix's version may have already used a similar idea in Season 2.
06:25In Episode 6, Smoker and Tashigi visit a destroyed marine base
06:29and face off against Mr. Eleven and Miss Thursday.
06:32That fight wasn't shown in the original anime,
06:35so the live-action series added its own twist, giving Miss Thursday baseball-based attacks.
06:40Because of that overlap, Season 3 might avoid repeating the same concept.
06:45That could mean the USOP and Chopper fight either gets changed significantly
06:49or doesn't happen in its original form at all.
06:52If the fight does still happen, it'll probably be altered to feel different,
06:57maybe with new abilities or a more serious tone,
07:00so it doesn't feel like a repeat of what viewers already saw in Season 2.
07:04Honestly, this change might not be a bad thing.
07:07While the original fight is loved for its creativity, teamwork, and emotional moments,
07:12some of its more exaggerated elements might not translate as well into live-action.
07:17The baseball gimmick, while fun, could come off as less threatening on screen,
07:22especially during a major high-stakes arc like Alabasta.
07:26And if done right, this tweak could make the Alabasta arc even more powerful on screen.
07:32Either way, I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
07:35While art is subjective, as an anime fan myself and a long-time One Piece enjoyer,
07:40I'd say Netflix's live-action One Piece is absolutely worth your time.
07:45Season 1, in my opinion, didn't fully lean into the anime's wild, over-the-top vibe,
07:50but Season 2 really nailed it.
07:52Netflix has stayed pretty faithful to the source material,
07:55and from the costumes to the set design,
07:57seeing the world of One Piece brought to life feels super impressive.
08:01Honestly, it just makes you want to see more of it.
08:03More than anything, the show proves that anime can actually work in live-action when it's done right.
08:09It's not a perfect recreation of Oda's work, but it's still a really fun watch,
08:14and a great alternative if you don't have the time or patience to get through hundreds of anime episodes.
08:20Well, that's it for today.
