00:00And the only conclusion I can come to when it comes to Carlos Mendoza
00:03and his future is that David Stearns and Steve Cohen
00:06are going to stick with him no matter what.
00:09I mean, they're 10 and a half games back in the division.
00:12If they get 15, 17 games back in the division by mid-May,
00:18how the hell is he keeping his job?
00:20Because you're not buried technically, but you are.
00:24Well, my counter to that would be this.
00:26If they didn't do it now, if they didn't do it with a 12-game losing streak,
00:31if they didn't do it with getting swept by Colorado,
00:34then what's the magic number, T?
00:36You know why you don't do it now?
00:37Go.
00:37Because Juan Soto just came back.
00:39So part of that losing streak was based on not having your best player.
00:44Francisco Lindor just got hurt, and he's out for an indeterminate amount of time
00:48because he's not being reevaluated for another three weeks.
00:51So you can create the excuse, the circumstance that is causing the melees
00:56that's surrounding this team.
00:57And so it's not the manager's fault.
00:59It's the circumstances of some of these players' fault.
01:02Like, you can explain it away right now.
01:05That's why you don't fire him yesterday.
01:07But if we go another two weeks, three weeks,
01:10and they're still sinking and hitting close to 20 games behind whoever's leading,
01:15in this case, the National League, the NL East, the Braves,
01:18then how the hell do you tell him to keep his job?
01:21I think what you say makes a lot of sense,
01:23but I don't think anything makes sense with the New York Mets right now.
01:26I could have sworn to you, I think you would have agreed,
01:29Lindor injury or not, that if they came back home
01:31after the disaster was their road trip,
01:34and they got swept by the Colorado Rockies,
01:36even after winning two out of three against Minnesota,
01:38there was no way Mendy would keep his job, and he has.
01:40So I am now under the impression that Carlos Mendoza is safe for the season.
