Gaza’s transport grinds to a halt amid spare parts crisis

Severe restrictions on spare parts entering Gaza have paralysed transport, fuelled a black market and sent repair and travel costs soaring for residents, Euronews has learned.

00:01In Gaza, a severe shortage of spare parts has paralyzed the transport sector.
00:07As part of the ceasefire terms, at least 600 aid trucks a day should be permitted to enter Gaza.
00:14However, many organizations warn the amount of aid entering the strip are still inadequate.
00:20Amid the limited flow of goods into Gaza, spare auto parts have been among the lowest priority items.
00:52On the ground, the impact is clear. Cars remain parked.
00:55Buses are out of service, and basic repairs are no longer affordable.
01:00Prices have skyrocketed, and repairs that once took hours now take days.
