00:02April 22, 2025. The scenic meadows of Pehalgaam in Jammu and Kashmir became the site of a horrific
00:10terror attack. 26 innocent civilians lost their lives. In response, India launched
00:18Operation Sindur, a decisive military operation that went beyond retaliation
00:23to reshape the nation's defence posture.
00:31In early May 2025, the Indian Armed Forces struck infrastructure linked to terror groups.
00:37Retaliatory actions also targeted military bases in Pakistan. The operation demonstrated
00:43India's resolve and marked a clear strategic shift in its defence doctrine. The core message,
00:50dialogue and terror cannot coexist.
00:57Soon after the attack, the government placed the Indus waters treaty in abeyance, guided
01:03by the principle that blood and water cannot flow together. India accelerated its dam infrastructure.
01:09The recent completion of the Shapur Kandi Dam on the river Ravi in Pathan code now allows
01:15India to stop excess Ravi waters from flowing into Pakistan.
01:25Any future act of terror will now be treated as an act of war against India. Operation Sindhu
01:30remains active in spirit. The Navy was kept on standby, sending a clear signal. All three
01:37wings of the armed forces, army, navy and air force are ready for coordinated, robust responses.
01:45Multi-domain warfare, including drones, electronic systems and layered air defence has become a top priority.
01:57Defence spending saw a sharp increase. The 2025-26 budget stood at approximately Rs 6.81 lakh crore.
02:07Post-operation capital expenditure utilisation hit a record 80% by December 2025, around Rs 1.2 lakh crore.
02:16In the 2026-27 union budget, allocation rose to about Rs 7.85 lakh crore, a 15% jump, with
02:25significantly
02:26higher capital outlays for modernisation and fast procurement using emergency powers.
02:36Operation Sindhu accelerated India's modernisation agenda. The Army doubled down on drone warfare and
02:43networked battlefield systems. New tactical units were created.
02:47Dharav battalions for agile operations and specialised Ashni platoons for drone integration.
02:55Tri-service coordination was strengthened. Atmanir Bharta gained momentum with expanded drone production lines.
03:02Indigenous systems like the Akash Air Defence performed effectively. Global interest in Indian equipment,
03:08including the Brahmo's supersonic cruise missile used in the operation has risen.
03:18Defence planners now emphasise multi-domain fast response, information warfare, psychological
03:24operations and enhanced cyber capabilities. India is advancing the Sudarshan Chakra project,
03:31an indigenous multi-layered air defence system, inspired by concepts like Israel's Iron Dome,
03:37to protect strategic and civilian areas by 2035. Advanced missile tracking vessels are also
03:44being prioritised. The goal is clear. Ensure any adversary pays a heavy cause for misadventure,
03:53creating a strong deterrent to safeguard India's cities and borders. Operation Sindhu has not only avenged
04:00the laws of innocent lives but redefined India's approach to national security, resolute, modern and self-reliant.
