On 40th Chernobyl disaster anniversary, Zelenskyy accuses Russia of committing 'nuclear terrorism'

Ukrainians gathered to honour those who died from the accident, as well as the hundreds of thousands who cleaned up after the disaster, exposing themselves to high levels of radiation.

00:19on the Chernobyl site last year. Ukrainians, meanwhile, gathered over the weekend to honor
00:25those who lost their lives, as well as those whose mission was to clean up after the disaster.
00:30On April 26, 1986, a human mistake made during a safety test led to an explosion at the nuclear
00:38plant in northern Ukraine. A UN report from 2005 estimated that 4,000 people died as a result of
00:46the accident, while Greenpeace puts the number closer to 100,000 people. Russian strikes on
00:52Ukraine continued on the 40th anniversary of the disaster, with at least three killed and
00:58four wounded overnight into Sunday. Two of the deaths were reported in the frontline northern
01:03eastern region of Sumy, while one person died in Dnipro, according to regional officials.
01:10In Russian-annexed Crimea, a man was killed in a Ukrainian attack, its Moscow-installed governor said.
