00:16Hello friends, my name is Kaya and I'm Niko. Welcome to APTN Kids. We're so happy you're
00:26here. This is a place where we learn, move and explore together. Today we're going on an adventure.
00:33Are you ready? Did you know there's lots of different kinds of frogs in Canada? Let's go
00:39on a frog adventure. First stop, the forest pond. The water is calm and the trees are tall. Look,
00:49there's a wood frog. Wood frogs are incredible. In winter, they freeze solid like ice cubes. But
00:57when spring comes, they thaw out and hop around again. Whoa, can you freeze like a frog? Stand super
01:08still, arms tucked in, shiver, shiver, shiver. Don't move a muscle. Now it's springtime. Time to wake
01:18up. Stretch your arms. Take a big deep breath and hop, hop, hop. Great job. Now let's splash into the
01:30pond
01:30like frogs diving in. Ready? Big jump, splash. Amazing. Let's hop into the meadow where the northern
01:41leopard frogs live. These frogs have green skin with dark spots like little leopards. And they love to
01:51catch insects with the long sticky tongues. If you were a frog, what would you catch with your tongue?
01:59Let's pretend to be frogs catching bugs with our tongues. Reach out your tongue. Yum, yum, yum.
02:09Time to travel to the backyard pond where the American toads hop around. Look at that bumpy brown skin. It
02:20helps them blend into leaves and soil to hide from predators. And when the toads want to look extra tough,
02:28they puff up. They puff up their bodies like a balloon. Can you puff up your cheeks like a toad?
02:39That was funny, Nico. Now let's crouch low and hop, hop, hop like a toad. Great job, backyard hoppers.
02:52Frogs. Frogs are special to many indigenous nations. Some say they are messengers and healers, reminding us to stay connected
03:00to the water and the land.
03:02Frogs. And just like frogs, we can be curious, flexible, and mindful.
03:09That was so much fun. Did you have fun too?
03:14We can't wait to see you next time. And remember, every day is a good day to learn and play.
03:22Marcy, bye for now.
03:25The reserve's food supply is beginning to rot away.
03:29When evil is threatened, Mother Earth.
03:31I look like...
03:33The tweens power up.
03:38Stopping you from devastating the environment.
03:41Dream catchers.
03:43Oh, you guys really are superheroes. Pretty cool, right?
